Try the method where you tuck the strings under each other, it holds better. You can see my third string had a little slippage, but the tuck keeps it solidly in place when it probably would have loosened if it was only looped against itself

i bought a bass yesterday and it's fun but hard
>>
>>74745714
Depends on what you want. Of the basic fuzzes (I hardly fuck with them), the muffs are good "bedroom" pedals is seems unless you get a good clone/kit.

Rats are awesome, bedroom or live situation. I used to use my Turbo Rat live on my bass and it was just a nasty fucker. There's allot of clones and kits out there of these. Really basic pedal. Main thing that sets the 2 apart is that by nature Muffs are more scooped and Rats have more mids. There's allot of different things, but if you try the Rat the and find it's too harsh but still like it some, try the You Dirty Rat, same sorta tone but smoother.

no it's just a repetitive stress type injury. if it was carpal tunnel you'd be unable to play guitar
>>
>>74748968
Tendinitis is more likely. Take breaks for a couple days and ice it when it hurts. You can stop it from fully coming on by doing hand stretches before and focusing on playing with less tenseness in your hand. If pain increases or persists in a month I'd see a doctor to make sure you know what you're dealing with

Oh yeah and if you're a beginner that's normal, the muscles in your hand aren't used to it yet and they'll get better, just don't over do it in the beginning

How much action should I have as a beginner? How do I measure my action?
>>
>>74749812
Place your finger on the first fret of the low E string then place your finger on the fret where the neck meets the body (usually the 17th). Then check the 8th fret. That's where you check for a business-card sized gap.

But if you're a beginner maybe you should take it to a guitar store so they can set it up for you.

>How much action should I have as a beginner?

Probably as low as possible without getting fret buzz.

>>
>>74749812
This might just be me, but I think it's good for beginners to learn on a guitar with higher action. It'll be more difficult at first, but you'll build hand/finger strength faster and it'll help you learn how to not inadvertently mute other strings. Then when you lower the action later on, playing will feel so much easier.

I've been playing for around 1.5 months now. Starting to get a grip on chords. Still make a lot of mistakes changing them but slowly improving.

My singing is a disaster though. It doesn't help that I seem to play everything as fast as possible.

Even though I suck, I have found messing around and coming up with my own progressions and lyrics to play makes it way more interesting. Here's my youtube. Please give me any tips on what I'm doing wrong.

Trust me, it's the type of thing you fool around with for a few hours and think it's amazing, then get bored of real quick after you realize the limitations and just how flat sounding digital is compared to a real tube amp.

You don't own 500 dollar headphones, do you.

Obviously the the texture of the sound is different when played through the amplifier. Who plays huge amps at even a fraction of their potential volume?

Ur stuck in the past my man. The future is now.

I need help my dudes
I've been a fan of marks bass tone since I was a kid. He was the main reason I wanted to play. I've been playing for years now but never bought his bass. I've got enough money now but, 800$ is alot. I just wanted to know I'm getting my bang for a buck. If there is a better way to get his sound cheaper let me know. Any help is appreciated.

Can anyone recommend me some Irish folk or Celtic learn books for acoustic guitars?

Any teachers that you would avoid?
