Watching great guitarists does it for me, but it seems like most people just get more discouraged when they do that. You either practice more or you don't

some amp called the tweaker. don't know anything else about it other than it supposedly got some killer tonal range. I was hoping yall would give me the 411 yo

Whoah, anon! That's looks amazing. Obvious quality craftsmanship. Okay, I doubt it's custom shop but for a just a production model it's nice. Fuck, I have GAS now. I want one! Cool handles, stitching contrasted by the matte leather... I gotta have that chair! Congrats on your get, anon!

This finally came yesterday. The bass contour is surprisingly not a meme. IRL it's just a more usable version of a treble/bass switch on an amp.

Reminds of Kiss but Ace knew how to hold a note and use silence to great effect... Yeah, you're playing too many notes all the way through. It sounds wanky. Try for dynamic, melodic and contrasting instead.

Also, the background chords may be too full to solo over.

Love the idea of that combo. Always had a fondness for P90s in the neck, but not as fond of them in the bridge. HB is just a bit more fat of a sound for that position, and a good hot P90 in the neck would make a good complement. Satisfied w/ Reverend's QC/construction so far?

Is 'you don't need to spend money on a decent amp' the new capo meme? Been seeing it everywhere lately, and it absolutely holds new players back. You should have your shitty crate amp for a year at most, and if you're still satisfied then it should indicate your lack of exploration into sound. Yes Yngwie makes a Line 6 sound good but you don't.

So, uh, what kind of drum track you need?
>>
>>72770760
Just something very simple so the guitar track doesn't sound so lonely, but with enough variations to the rhythm so it doesn't sound like a two second loop over and over again. Usually I let Logic Pro make my drum tracks because I play metal so the fast paced auto-drummer fits right in but in this case the song is slower so Logic's drummers sound like absolute ass and I don't know what to do.
That track of that midi where the piano only plays one note was supposed to be a drum track so the auto-drummer could follow it but it didn't work out.

I'm not antisocial, talk to me about whatever, but don't try to pressure me to spend my money so you can get a bigger commision. I bought a marshall stack from a local shop once for just over $1200, and I stopped going there because everytime i went in there the guy would start in on all the $1000 guitars that they have in stock. I shit you not one time I came in for strings and he told me he'd throw in 3 packs of strings if I bought a MIA strat from him. Same thing at my guitar center, everytime I go in to pro audio they recognize me as the guy that bought $2000 in mics one day so they start trying to sell me shit. You know I thought about it being a shred thing, but guys like Vai, Yngwie, Becker, Gilbert etc. bended like crazy. Guthrie bends like crazy today. In fact, Gilbert has even said he doesn't want to be associated with guitarists who don't bend since he feels they're wasting the instruments capabilities.

>>72777453
I think it's because so many guitarists learn to play with guitar pro tabs, which usually only feature major bends and held vibrato, instead of all of the little details.

Jason Richardson is an incredible guitarist, but he sounds like a guitar pro track most of the time. Sarah Longfield and Rob Scallon both claim they don't bend in this video, and Sarah has the worst vibrato on earth:

Hey guys, looking for some advice. I play as a hobby, but I'm looking to get better. I have used tabs for years, but I want to actually learn how to play. Where do you guys reccomend I start so I can learn to navigate the fretboard. Scales? C major? Chords? The CAGED system? Circle of fifths and learning all the scales for that? Learning theory so I can build my own scales and chords? I don't know the name of anything, I just rely on guitar pro so I can't improvise at all. I can't tell major and minor apart, I don't know to tell what key something is. I'm always just confused and feel like I don't know enough. Please help

Honestly, I realize now that I fucked up. Drums were my calling from age 6. I still love playing guitar, but no milestone I ever hit with guitar has brought me joy like drums have. And I already had so much groundwork laid out; rudiments, note value, rhythms, even having to lock my feet into a beat. I'm about to start a band where I play drums because I feel like I've been doing this for years.

But, I've seriously been thinking about starting an amateur marching band, do those exist?

>>72778779
I use Justin Guitar. But after going through the Intermediate shit, I switched to the StichMethod on YouTube. He's inspired by the Grateful Dead and Phish, which inspired me to play, so some of his lessons are based off them.
I don't like Justin's scale stuff - he doesn't really explain how to apply or use them. The StichMethod does a very good job in explaining how to use scales when improvising.

hello /gg/,

i'm looking to start recording myself, and i need a new amp as i've been practising for a couple years on a shitty battery amp. i'm thinking about just buying a really good head, maybe vintage, and plugging it straight into an spl transducer, or a di with a load box. i'm not sure if this is a good idea or if i should just get a combo and an sm57. i have a good interface (uad apollo twin) but i didn't like the virtual amps on it.

this is my guitar. i'm open to any suggestions beyond killing myself.
>>
>>72781570

>>
>>72781861

>>
>>72781957
Sounds like he isn't a guitarist.
>>
>>72781754
>combo and an sm57

this is what I do and it's pretty perfect for me.

Like you I tried software and it sucks. I've tried lots of things and nothing works quite as good as a good old mic up to an amp, and maybe play with software after the fact to tweak it.

I never tried plugging a head straight into, but from what I hear it's not really a good solution as nothing will sound as real as a head into a cabinet.
>>
>>72781754
Most speaker/mic simulators suck ass. Go for a cab and a mic
>>
>>72763607
Just bought it. How'd I do?
>>
>>72782036
what combo? i've tried some twin/deluxe reverbs and i liked them, but i found that you had to really crank them to get the sound i want. i'm looking at some marshall heads and ac30 heads. i also don't really care if it doesn't sound real as long as it sounds good, you know? but maybe the aspect of the cabinet is necessary, thats why i'm looking at the spl transducer which supposedly has some analog cab emulation. i like the idea of being able to record silently, but through a cranked head. i play alot of dadrock pop stuff, psych rock, occasionally fuck around with jazz and sludge/stoner stuff.
>>
>>72773113

I think it probably is, but like I said I've never tried it. I just hear it doesn't work, and I shudder when I hear the word "emulation" since nothing that's supposed to emulate another thing ever sounds right for me.

You can try it, but I personally wouldn't risk spending the money when you could just get a combo amp and a mic. (which are both useful in their own rights and you'll probably need somewhere down the line anyway). Buy at your own risk there.

>what combo?

How do I play jazz? Seriously

I know all the chord shapes and voicings and shit, and I can play ii-V-I progressions, and I know all the mode shapes

But when I listen to jazz on the radio I still have no idea what the fuck they are doing or how it relates to ii-V-I, and can't play along in any logical way

What material do I need to study to "get it"

If anyone responds "practice" I'll come to your town and play guitar in front of the girl you like as punishment. Believe me I'm better than you at guitar to s degree that your mum would pat you on the back with pity if she saw us play next to eachother and tell you it's okay and to
just keep practicing

I practice hours daily, I am asking him for direction in what to practice. Sick of you fake discipline cunts typing "man up and practice more" with cheeto dust on your fingers whenever a motivated person asks a technical question

Not big into jazz by the way just want to dick around with it

> be chapman
> be really talented
> can't sell a record because we're in the age of super cheap music and spotify
> can't really sell gigs because people aren't really in to it anymore unless you're an oldie
> tries to make genuinely decent music
> everyone else shits music out of their asshole every 5 minutes through computers and synthesizers
> be forced to work at guitar store for the rest of your life
> be forced to make videos with this dumb asshole every day

is there any other man who's suffered such a struggle?

the RC3 is pretty damn good especially with an A B switch (FS-6) which is easy enough to clone.

I know a lot of people swear by the ditto, try both and get the one you like and that fits your budget.

if it sounds good to you and you have 140 to blow, then why not?
>>
>>72785969
So one of the big things with jazz is training your ears and hands to get away from strict chord-mode association. Like, as a jazz guitarist, I don't see a V chord and think "play a mixolydian-based lick here", it's more "well, I could play a melodic minor lick a full step down, or I could play an altered lick based on the #9 or b5 of the chord". Getting to that point requires some understanding of advanced jazz harmony, specifically chord and scale substitutions, and altered tension. So I would recommend checking out tritone and scale substitutions. There's a plethora of YouTube videos and jazz guitar websites for that. That should get you going in the right direction. If you stick to pure diatonic harmony your lead playing won't sound as sophisticated as what you're hearing on the radio.

Idk why you even care if you aren't really into jazz anyway, but good luck.

then have fun my friend. it may be inexpensive and maybe cheap, but if you enjoy it then it's 140 well spent.

Hello friends. I've been practicing all my scales on my bass and doing my best to learn the notes locations on the fretboard by heart

How long did it take you guys?
