Goodnight Daily!
The point of these threads is to encourage people to look for new and interesting music. We do this by listening to and ideally discussing albums we've never heard before. Many of us already listen to new music daily, these people are in it to venture "out of their comfort zone" by listening to albums they otherwise wouldn't have, or just to have a good time.

>Psalters carry the bones
Production this album was weak as heck, very hollow & without might. Still, Psalters keeps things engaging with their wonderful pseudospiritual world fusion folk punk blues sorta thing they got going on. It's cool. Solid release.
>David Thomas Broughton's Crippling Lack
The voice needs to be mentioned, very crisp & clear tone, wonderful to experience. Beyond the strong voice though, it's a'ight. Just indie folk pseudo-primitivism sorta whatever stuff. The length was excessive.

>>72704422
It was refreshing to hear a singer with noticeable talent on an album.
However, once you step into that realm you begin to be stacked up with giants like Robbie Basho or Otis Redding and mr. David really doesn't stack up in that context. His vocal choices were very stale, so his performance was almost entirely carried by tone.
The songwriting was pretty cool crescendocore I suppose, but nothing wild or innovative or special in any sense. Sufjan did it better, & with more brevity.

KOTO - プラトニック プラネット (Platonic Planet)
My lord! Finally, the pinnacle of bubbly joypop wonder! The songs MOVE! Rhythm is explored! Themes are varied! (In pop music? WOW!) The hooks are SO GOOD!
Everything about this is just brilliant. It's always high energy, but never gets exhausting. It's dynamic, it's creative, it's infinite, unrelenting fun. It's like injecting liquid sugar directly into your heart.
Plus, KOTO's got dance moves like DAMN!

The Roots - Things Fall Apart (1999)
>east coast hip hop, conscious hip hop
The Roots’ ultra-smooth approach to hip hop goes down really easy. I really appreciate how deftly Black Thought is able to spit out some fiery, ultra-conscious lyrics over ?uestlove and co.’s light, groovy beats, but this subdued approach to beats is sometimes /too/ light. The first half of the album really leaves to impression. It’s ultra listenable, and Black Thought is always great, but the beats don’t do much to impress me. The second half really picks up some steam, the beats get jazzier and more active, and social messages more potent, and the hooks catchier. The poem read on “The Return to Innocence Lost” is a big highlight, what a fucking beautiful, harrowing piece.

>>72707733
This album is pretty fucked up. I've been meaning to listen to it for a long time, never got around to it. Probably going to need a couple more listens but right now I think it's kind of bad - they're trying too hard not to write a pop song, and the vocal manipulation is kind of annoying imo. Too often the bass and drums lose the rhythm, which is a shame because they can play tight when they want to -- or maybe not, these guys were 18-19, their ideas were bigger than their chops, especially on guitar.
"We Are Time" is good, and the production is 10/10. I just can't help but feel like you can only dance theoretically to this band, which makes them a lot less exciting.

FINAL SHOWDOWN JANGLE VS TRANS
2 bootleg live albums, one from an artist I like, and one from an artist I'm new to. Jangle's rec was good, a little collection of Buckley songs played live and very lofi, not bad at all. Trans' rec wasn't bad either, but I wasn't too entertained by it ig. I liked the use of electronics but honestly I wasn't a fan of the vocals.
So congrats on the win Jangle! Accel dodged my 3 recs for him, and good job to everyone involved in this tourney. :) it was a fun one

Future - DS2 (2015)
>trap rap, southern hip hop
I can’t stand Future as a rapper, and my opinion hasn’t changed here. He’s a bit better here than he his on Honest, because he’s got some really entertaining ad-libs and some great hooks, but he embodies everything I don’t like about mumbly rappers. The beats are the draw of this album, and even they have their own problems. “Thought It Was a Drought” and “Stick Talk”, among others, have quite nice trap beats that go hard without sacrificing a certain melancholic quality. They’re still generic trap beats, though. Nothing really interesting to them that sets them apart from any other trap beats. I’m liking this more than I thought I would, but I’m still not a fan of Future’s.

nibba ds2 is at least a 7
INU's Meshi Kuuna is some solid, Devo-style manic new wave. The album features a mix of both synths and traditional rock instruments accompanied by INU's high, sometimes-wailing voice. The record is a good excursion in the genre, though I wouldn't say it was anything too exceptional. I was somewhat disappointed, honestly, having vaguely known about the album beforehand, but that's definitely more my fault than the record itself.

>Aaron Dilloway - Modern Jester
>Noise, Tape Music
My fascination in this album is hard to explain. I get the same goosebumps I would for any album that I really enjoy, but why? Why when there's only skin-piercing bombardments of sound, fading through and outward in loops? Is it the "subliminal messages" that Dilloway states exist within this album? Is it the album's cover, mischievous, but with the clear notion that something is wrong? Is it the way the field recordings are processed to feel like they don't come from this earth?
Whatever it is, this was an unnerving listen. There's clearly something stuck in this album that can't get out.

>Marty Robbins - Hawaii's Calling Me
>Hawaiian, SHAKA BRAH AYY HOWZIT YOU LIKE MUSUBI
I've gotten quite my fill of Hawaiian music in my life, having been born there. So there's no element of 'retreat' for me, because for me Hawaii is normal and the rest of the world is just fucking cold and dry
I'm also familiar with the calm backing choruses, the commonly used pitch bends of lead singers, the VERY similar song structures, the light plucks and strums of bass or ukulele, and the accursed slide guitar. So hearing it all again simply makes me think about tourist traps.
I'll confess I don't hate the ukulele, except when it gets butchered by anyone outside of Hawaii. You'd think it'd get old with local guys carrying them around during all of intermediate and high school, but it really didn't.

>Ekkehard Ehlers - Ekkehard Ehlers Plays
>Ambient, Glitch
Cornelius Cardew channels Terry Riley and other ambient artists before fully evolving into Yellow Swans.
Hubert Fichte is exploring a miniature toy plastic jungle, before exploring the child's bedroom that it was residing in.
John Cassavetes recalls the peacefulness of A Winged Victory for the Sullen with distant noise; soon after, it transforms into an eternal teary-eyed waltz between constellations.
Albert Ayler points towards the avant-garde, with unfiltered pops and clicks in its bass plucks and untamed strings.
Robert Johnson glues together the sound of acoustic strings, before organizing them into... Chicago house? A strange turn, but not out of nowhere considering Robert Johnson's background.
Each Part 1/2 track is sampled from the discography that Ekkehard Ehlers respected. Alone, these tracks stand well as texture ambient/drone, but reinterpreting their works like We're New Here? Fantastic, and worth more time looking into each artist.
8/10
>Tim Buckley - Starsailor
>Experimental Rock
I got pranked by an album cover. I was expecting folky stuff from, but instead I get Buckley singing opera and belting notes with a fucking organ and jazz drums.
Tim's voice has some crazy chops, and he knows it. From Come here woman's first moments, I feel like I've been thrust into an some feverish opera spotlight. Song To The Siren feels like it could've been produced by a modern 70's revivalist band, and I can't imagine the smiling man on the album cover to make the variety of sounds in Monterey Jungle Fire is probably my second favorite track for its percussion and wails of Buckley's voice in the backdrop.
The production in this album-- also ahead of its time. The album's title track was insanely ahead of its time. Buckley's unique vibrato and vocal range, paired with electronic work I'd expect to see in Darkwave-- it should be the golden standard in that genre.
Maddening.

Not bad Shamepai. I should probably relisten to that Sweet Trip record, but I don't really feel like it right now. Overall: 3.67
>Destroy All Monsters - 1974 - 1976
Pretty good. The tape music and the punk parts were awesome, and definitely the best tracks of this comp (I love that girl's voice).. the free improv/ jazz parts were not as enjoyable though, which was unfortunate since this was the main majority of the comp. They definitely weren't bad though, but I just wished this was more punk/ tape music centered. Lastly, I don't know whether or not I should critique something based on length.. Most of the times lengthier records mean included sections that aren't as good as the rest, and in my eyes those parts could be easily cut off. There were definitely those parts here, too (this was over 3 hours, could have probably been 1).
3.5/5
>Tangerine Dream - Zeit
I'm really bad at articulating criticisms for ambient/ drone music unless there's something really obvious. Usually it's just hit or miss. This was good, not great.. not a whole lot more I can put into words honestly. It felt pretty emotionless (which might have been the point?) which sometimes worked in it's favor, sometimes against. I wish it would've sounded a little more.... organic? Regardless, I really liked the ominous atmosphere.

>>72711771
Going through this, I think the overworld background music is the strongest stuff here, since they seem to be the basis for a lot of the other tracks. Character-specific battle music is all messily interconnected with their themes, though. Guess you could say it makes sense because muh parallelism and centralization of plot around single character but then we go into the whole "should video game music be judged alone" debacle
And you're right about the melodies, because while reading up on Damacy, the literally state that they include the whistled intro because they wanted to have a catchy leitmotif to make the OST stand out. so uh yeah

Let’s try this again.
>Paddy McAloon - I Trawl the MEGAHERTZ
What I didn't care for here was the general mindlessly-repetitive nature of most of this added with nearly zero satisfying conclusions to any of these tracks. Most of the time it's just a brief glimpse into a beautiful world that you're thrown into for a few minutes then instantly pulled away from. However, in a lot of ways this is this album's strengths. Jazz this ain't, but using the horn instruments in a pop vibe spread out over long periods of time...Idk there's something so unhateable about this, and yet I could absolutely see someone leaning strongly one way or the other because of that exactly. This guy has a great sense of melody and songwriting in general. Though nothing world-ending it's at least worth your time.
7
>Pascals - Live in Bremmen
A really fun bootleg (?) performance by a band I’ve never heard before, who exclusively cover songs by Pascal Comelade, who I have also never heard of. The songs are all performed well, engaging, and again, just fun. There’s very little I see here tying it to the label of “avant” though occasionally it does do instrumentally a few unique things. Speaking of which, I didn’t initially think it would take ALL those people on the front to create what’s pretty simple music, but after giving this a second try, I’m starting to realize how crazy diverse this album is. Though not MUCH very surprising, I’m excied to try these guys’ studio discog.
7
>アドバルーンズ - きちがいモーター
It's a pafe records post-punk release. Why WOULDN'T it be great? Well, start with the fact that the first song is sort of garbage, and tie it in with some unexciting, repetitive song structures. For how unique-sounding and satisfying it is definitely deserves some praise, but this label has put out much better stuff.

>Sufjan Stevens - Carrie & Lowell Live
I’m not the BIGGEST fan of Carrie & Lowell, but a lot of it resonates with me personally. Have I mentioned I currently live in the city “Eugene” is based off of? For that reason and many more, that song remains my favorite on that album. However, that’s probably the only song that remains untouched with a vastly different variation on this live performance. Every other song here has another layer added to it, whether it be R&B, chamber pop, or progressive electronic, nearly every song has changed in some format. Almost always these are improvements, but in a few cases, they really take the shitter, especially the two Age of Adz songs. The mechanical, cold vibe I got originally got from Futile Devices is entirely gone here. The Blue Bucket of Gold + Outro was also completely worthless, but saved by a pretty great Hotline Bling cover, which is honestly probably one of the best performances here. Overall worth it if you’re a Suffy fan, otherwise completely passable.
7
>NieR:Automata Original Soundtrack
Don’t get me wrong, there’s plenty of choice cuts here, but I really don’t see this coming together holistically. For every really intense, amazing short piece, there’s at least one song that really bores me or I don’t care for at all. The western folk + classical vibe only works occasionally, and for so long. It’s expansive and intense, but I just feel like the sheer length of it works so hard against it. Perhaps I’ll enjoy this more if I ever play the game, but I feel there’s a key bit missing without context.
6
>Wugazi - 13 Chambers
Lol okay this really isn't that bad. Good? Not exactly, in fact, sometimes it doesn't work in the slightest. Most of the time it's just Fugazi instrumentals + boom bap drums + 36 Chambers lyrics. If you dig both of these bands and don't take yourself that seriously, I bet you could really get something out of this. If more rap-rock was like this I would so fuck with it.
6
2/4
>Miles Davis - Get Up With It
I thought I would get a different perspective on this giving it more time, but it just didn’t happen. In fact, I pretty much have the same opinion on it as I did before: This album is more a more strung-out, less surprising, active, and interesting than the fusion he’s done before, and just longer and more repetitive on top of that. Of course there’s great moments, but I think I need to give it a bit more time.
6
>Rowland S. Howard - Pop Crimes
Even as a big fan of his 1999 release, this fell short for me in so many areas. In fact, going back through this now I'm having a hard time even having a song that sticks out to me very much at all. Though a lot of the punk sensibilities as well as general depressive atmosphere are still present, I feel like these qualities are something inherently special to his previous album, as I feel general exciting or interesting song structure here is lacking immensely. Not really terrible, but not really worthwhile either.

>>72712879
>The Velvet Underground - The Complete Matrix Tapes
I love their first album because I'm a human being with a soul, and I nut at the pure mention of White Light/White Heat. However, I don't really care for the "pop rock" style of their other two albums (squeeze doesn't count btw). Knowing that, this comp was pretty disappointing to me, considering it's ALL that vibe for the most part. Of course the songs by themselves are alright, but almost everything I enjoy about them is gone. Where's the energy? Where's the noise? Where's WHERE IS CALE'S VIOLA??? Also, imagine my surprise when the best song by far here was NOT the 35-minute version of Sister Ray, but the 9-minute versions of White Light/White Heat. The other renditions of Heroin were great, but don't match the studio version really. And we didn't need it thrice more thanks. The recording is great for it's time, but totally a waste of time unless you're a huge fan of the last two VU records.
4
>Super Furry Animals - Radiator
Was originally gonna be nicer to this one, but fuck it. It's just...ass. I really didn't dig the overall britpop vibe added with electronic elements. The fusion of the two feels really half-assed. Granted, there's barely no hateable songs here, but it's just oh-so-passable that after a bit it becomes nauseating. If you catch yourself listening to Oasis from time to time maybe you'd like this more. I sure as shit don't though.

What music-related YouTube channels do you dig /daily/? Minus artists' personal video channels Here's some of my favorites:
https://www.youtube.com/user/dereckvon
Dereck kicks ass and his videos are comfy as shit. Just some old music dude going through his collection and talking about stuff he likes. Couldn't see anyone here not liking his stuff.
https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCDqeX741Z-PkyY_5xF5jL3A
Dust-To-Digital's channel where they re-release/restore a lot of amazing music + release some similar-sounding originals of their own.
https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCI_dcH8Zr2UqNT1EqvMNgTg
More theory/classical-based, but not so in-depth that he'll bore you or confuse you if you're not super deep into it. His Trout Mask Replica video kicks ass.
https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCdWeaG-8WPWpd6qcuz_-abw
Even if not everything PC Music releases is good, it's usually interesting or unique to some extent.
https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCI_dcH8Zr2UqNT1EqvMNgTg
I thought I would hate this channel, but how in-depth and well-made they are really threw me off. It's a lot of the "why" and "how" in video game music and involves a great deal of theory-related explanations if you're into that.
https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCcTt3O4_IW5gnA0c58eXshg/videos
All his videos are interesting if you're into 70s/80s-era home synthesis, especially the hardware aspects of it. His video on how early vidya music was made is also really interesting: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q_3d1x2VPxk

Also, this guy's videos are /okay/, but much too buzzfeed/for-millennials-esque that it really puts me off. The explanations/hardware/gear reccomendations are good, but the tone, editing style, and in general music I don't care for really puts me off:

Book review bump. Might read Rudi's rec next. I didn't realize it was the guy behind Satantango.
>Columbine
Finishing it up here in a minute. This is a masterpiece of journalism that rightfully won the Pulitzer Prize. Dave Cullen spent 10 years--one hour after the attack up until the book's publication in 2009--exclusively writing about the Columbine school shooting and its aftermath. It's incredible what he was able to put together from countless hours of footage, interviews, and journals left behind. About 100 captivating pages are dedicated exclusively to a minute-by-minute account of what happened during the attack (it was hell on earth), which should've been an impossible task given how many perspectives need to be covered. There's a deep understanding of all sides here that doesn't resort to sensationalism or cool distance from the events--to the point where it reads like a story. Really a rewarding read.
9/10
Besides this being insane for the time I'm not much impressed. Wolfman is a cool track but the kind has been done much better since, the 'vocals' especially drag it down as it goes on. Very impressive for the time and it doesn't sound dated at all but neither is it particularity good. The cover is though.

>>72716685
also, starting with Satantango is sometimes advice. But I really feel Seiobo There Below is a better introduction. It's mainly just a better way to get used to his style, while being very easy to read (main problem is that his sentences are all like 3-4 pages long, but very readable in Seiobo). The only thing is that it's his most optimistic book, so the general atmosphere may not be that reflective of his other work, but his prose definitely is.
>>72717492
Better starting place as an introduction to his writing style? I was actually going to watch Satantango first
>>72717532
yep that.
yeah that could help, I think that's why I managed to get through the book without being really used to his writing style, because I knew the story
also it's just a really good film
>laura marling - semper femina
some good songs and some total snoozefests. the first two tracks have really pretty instrumentation, but i'm not a fan of marling's vocals. the songwriting is solid, but largely pedestrian, and sometimes wanders into dangerously generic folk-pop stuff. not bad overall.

Bardo Pond - Lapsed (Tuco) vs Tortoise - Millions Now Living Will Never Die (rym robot man)
"Lapsed" started quite promising, some good melodies going together with noise just fine. Then it got significantly less interesting. By the end it was getting p bland, so I only really remembered the beginning of the piece.
Tortoise's album also is stronger in the beginning, but it managed to be more steady much better. 20 minute first track doesn't sound like a good idea, but "Djed" is a really good one, I barely even noticed it's that long and even if someone will get bored of it, it's instantly followed by "Glass Museum", which I think is the best work on the album and it definitely succeeds at getting your attention - it's mellow, calm, but also p damn catchy.
Le Mystère des voix bulgares - Le mystère des voix bulgares : volume 1 (Letov) vs Devo - Q: Are We Not Men? A: We Are Devo! (rym robot man)
Yeah, I like trad. I like these bulgarian chicks especially. If anything, they should at least be recognized for the quality of their singing.
Somehow I expected Devo's album to be worse. It's actually p good.

giant claw's mutant glamour is a highly entertaining set of swirling synth songs. occasionally quite catchy and very fun.
biosphere's substrata is pretty and sparse and has those nice cold synths i enjoy so much. the vocal samples (Twin Peaks!) don't necessarily add all that much. quite good overall.
im gonna need an EP rec from the both of you to settle this tiebreaker

Technical Space Composer's Crew - Canaxis 5 (Terminus) vs Stereolab - Emperor Tomato Ketchup (rym robot man)
Canaxis 5 is probably one of the best examples in its genre I've heard. While being an actual collage consisting of dissimilar elements, it manages to sustain a remarkably consistent atmosphere. It's a great thing, really.
Emperor Tomato Ketchup ain't bad. Definitely liked it more than Dots And Loops, it's probably on the same level for me as Random-Noise Bursts. What I like about the band is that while the vocals always seem to try to be unobtrusive, they're still really distinctively there and not just babbling something on the background.
I congratulate humans on finally being able to beat the bot. To commemorate this moment, I advance all humans who managed to beat the robot instead of highest rated ones. That includes Shamepai, Letov, Terminus and s. The last fifth spot will be the robot one. Try and rec something really good in this round cause even though your previous score will matter, it won't save you in case of bad rec.
So I need recs from: Shamepai, Letov, Terminus and s. There is still a chance to bet before the beginning of the next round, after that no more bets are accepted.

Eric B. & Rakim - Paid In Full (1987)
>east coast hip hop, boom bap, hardcore hip hop
The production isn’t as dated now as some people make it out to be. Beats on tracks like “I Know You Got Soul” and the titular “Paid on Full” have sublime turntable work (something that’s carried over on even the worst tracks), and they’re genuinely good, simple hip hop beats that work perfectly with Rakim’s exceptional flow. Rakim really is wonderful, he’s not a terribly showy rapper but his flow in unstoppable and he’s got a wonderful voice. He never drops down in quality, but Eric B. definitely does. The instrumental tracks are just bad, and some of the beats have really cheesy, squeaky synth effects that sound straight out of an SNES soundtrack. It’s somewhat endearing, but compared to what Eric B. demonstrates on this album’s best tracks, it’s awful. Mixed bag, and it doesn’t stand up as well today, but it deserves its place in the hip hop canon.

Atrium Carceri - Kapnobatai
Supposedly, "Kapnobatai" is one of the best in Atrium Carceri's career. Also the musician is known for taking the industrial turn in his dark ambient sound. It is a decent idea in its core, the dark aesthetic of machinery, abandoned factories and other buildings, etc. Unfortunately, I don't think Heath managed to implement that idea successfully. You could see that he tried to distance himself from le edgy dark scene who produce the utmost shit with the unseen pride like they did a hecking masterpiece and everyone just le doesn't le understand. Nevertheless, you can still see the influence of this crowd in his music, even though you know he means good, does japanese samples and stuff (which are one of the few things that should actually be recognized about the piece, though he just hecking steals them from his own earlier "Seishinbyouin", like "Synaptic Transmission" downright sound like it was taken from Seishinbyouin), the weak le edgy sample drops like drops of shit (pardon my metaphors) stir his brew. I heard another stuff by the guy and I know he can get more industrial if he wants to and he should really do that and cancel every single attempt at that horrible beat like on "Impaled Butterfly". Minimalistic Kammarheit sound like on "Wrapped Cloth" or "Ruins Of Desolation" while maybe is not THAT bad, is just doing nothing for him, it's a dead end, plain uninteresting. I just want the guy to do what he does best - delve in freaking dark tunnels and pipes and shit. "The Carnophage" kinda comes close, yet it's kinda boring for a closing track.
He also added some weird sounding bland futuristic noise, it works fine on some trax like "Enclosed World / Liberation" or "Torn Citadel Of The Autarch". To me the culmination of the album was "Thermographic Components" - it really combined everything good about the album, altho the background pulsating was p weak, the rest was satisfactory.

Marathoning the last Snoop albums cause I’m dedicated but also a masochist?
Ego Trippin
After surprise success of Tha Blue Carpet Treatment, Snoop was supposedly back on track. Critics were all over it and as a result, Snoop hyped the whole thing up. The pimp stuff was cool but he was over that. And this time - absolutely no guest features.
But in the production, Ego Trippin' morphed from a focused gangster album into a pop release. Songs like "Sexual Eruption", "Waste of Time" and "Cool" are slick and radio-focused. They build off the sleek, Neptunes sound on the past two releases, and are pop tracks. Some of the original concept remains though, with "Press Play" and "Staxxx in my Jeans" building off the harder Blue Carpet sound.
Ultimately, this album is all over the damn place, with Snoop even tackling country ("My Medicine") amongst all the pop and g-funk. There are some dope songs scattered all throughout the release but it's remarkably uneven.

After the hype the whole "solo gangster" thing didn't pan out on Ego Trippin', Snoop goes the opposite direction. There's so many features - Lil John, The-Dream, R Kelly, etc. He even brings on Soulja Boy. The result is a giant fucking mess.
Honestly, I don't think there's anything particularly noteworthy about this album. Snoop phones in some boring verses, the features are not hot and the beats are generic garbage. It’s 2000s pop with Snoop’s name on it and it’s glossy to the point of annoyance. The rapping is straight up awful at times, with multiple shit/poop references on “Upside Down”. Thanks Problem. Honestly, I just gave up on this when I heard that track.
Listening to Snoop has made me question something. What makes an album worse - a generic album or a streaky/inconsistent listen? I used to lean toward the latter. Unfortunately, this changed my mind - this is his worst album by far. It’s laughably bad but hey, I actually liked the R Kelly feature.

>Neil Young - Dead Man
This was a lot better than I expected. I've always enjoyed music that has that bleak western atmosphere to it, and this is the best of this kind of music I've ever heard. I absolutely loved the guitar experiments, which was a huge chunk of this record. Other then these tracks, there was some atmospheric spoken word from Native Americans and other western characters.. so damn enjoyable to listen to, not entirely sure why. A lot of these tracks had background ambient noise - cicadas, wind rustling through the trees, crackling campfires.. I could listen to this shit all day. I need more western atmospheric music in my life.

Slick Rick - The Great Adventures of Slick Rick (1988)
>east coast hip hop
Such a classic-era hip hop album. It embodies that sound perfectly, and if you know me, I’m not a fan of that sound. The over-the-top, poppy, synthesizer-laden nature of the beats really rubs me the wrong way, and I think this is because the drums aren’t focused on at all, the beats have no power to them whatsoever. That’s alright though, because Slick Rick is obviously this album’s focal point. The dude’s a goddamn great rapper, and save for the abhorrent “Indian Girl (An Adult Story)”, a great, clever lyricist as well. I’d love to hear Slick Rick over better beats, but with this production even his talent seems a bit underwhelming.

>Kahondo Style - Green Tea & Crocodiles
All over the place in moods and themes within the chamber style. Good stuff.
7+/11
>Ernst Karel - Swiss Mountain Transport Systems
With one of my favourite albums being Das Ohr am Gleis, I was excited to try this out due to it also being train themed. More-so the various different types of transport systems throughout the Swiss Mountains. There's a lot of stuff here that the aforementioned album does better at, loads of similarities at times too. The bumps, rattles and shakes of the cartridges all feel too real, but occasionally my immersion would be broken by an out of place or an incorrectly mixed in sound. It definitely isn't intended for a full album listening since the tracks are all trips to different places; you wouldn't be going on them at different places after each-other; it's not well suited as a full album normally.
7-/11
>Nisennenmondai - Rokuon
Fun, bouncy noise rock. I pretty much always like this stuff.
7-/11
>Thee More Shallows - A History of Sport Fishing
Maan that first track got me excited but I quickly found out Its blandness. The indie rock plauge.
5+/11
And somehow I managed to finish a chart, thanks for the recs guys! So glad I listened to Dark and Stormy Night. Now on to the next thing...

FISH please send me the png editing this is a huge pain with the borders being so hard to figure out. Topsters2 pngs compress the album covers but they don't compress the whole image, that's what I'm talking about here. And there's me saving a jpeg background as a jpeg.

Tbh it's actually incredible and really hypnotic so get outta here
>>72733636
Do me first
Ital Tek - Hollowed
Not a bad sound, except it's kinda boring. The ending was p great though ("Aquamarine", "Vesper", "Jenova" and "Vacuum I"). Other decent trax - "Terminus", "Memory Shard".
Tongues Of Light - Channelled Messages at the End of History
I HATED this goddamn occasional distant telephone ringing in "Healing", since I have a similar ringtone on my phone and I had to check it like 5 thousand times while listening to this shit.
I wanted to rate it 2/5 cause it actually hardly did anything for me. But I gotta admit it's a decent concept for an album and it's not made that bad.
Jeremy Zuckerman - Khaos
So, an album by the composed who did soundtrack on "Korra". Guess what, it's boring. Gotta admit the guy has some decent instrument skills tho. He should do more wacky stuff like "Puzzle". Maybe I'll give it a relisten sometimes to reevaluate.
Dyke Drama - Up Against The Bricks
No, I don't like "happy punk". I really don't. I couldn't care less that it's supposed to appeal to queer audience (me). The lyrics are not very good, but the instruments are alright (the only reason why I'm not rating it 3), if only they weren't performing a fucking hipster Andrew W.K. variation.

>nat vs terminus
naked city's leng tch'e is quite crazy. it builds from brooding, noisy waves of guitar into absolute mania. captivating, especially towards the end.
taj mahal travellers' july 15, 1972 is an improvised drone record. i wouldn't call it boring, but there are some sections that seem almost too sparse and lacking any sort of idea. there are interesting textural combinations, most notably that of the electric violin, trumpet, and whatever makes that eerie drone noise on the last track. decent overall.
nat advances! thanks for playing, terminus.
