I think that was better but imo the lack of "feel" has more to do with the arrangement in that solo than your playing. The best solos have multiple parts that each feel like they have a beginning and an end, with buildups and then a release. That one kinda feels like it has some buildup without any big release and then it kinda just meanders in other parts. Did you write that or is it a cover? Keep in mind that you're a much better player than I am so I'm not putting you down, just trying to offer constructive criticism and help.

I've always played guitar with my right hand (picking hand) either resting on the lower strings when playing lightee strings and when I play lower strings my handresting abve the strings against the guitar. It's a genre that tries to be atonal but often falls into a certain tonality, even if it's just a "tendency" towards a major or minor tonality.
Some of the stuff in the genre is impressive as technique, rhythm, and harmonic knowledge goes. It is unlistenable most of the time, despite its laurels, and should generally be ignored except for studying.

There has not been a notable resurgence of the lute outside of its use as a period/supplementary learning instrument.
There are very few people composing for the instrument since it is not a standardized instrument(many different course configurations).
It's also quiet and reminds people of a plectrum harpsichord because it sound like ass.

The classical guitar on the other hand has many contemporary composers and a cemented place at Universities.
People work best when given limitations.

The facts remain, you never demonstrated how the guitar is more versatile in any way whatsoever first of all. It's a shit instrument with a limited range. You can write music for the guitar and it can be played on the lute, but it isn't always the case vice versa. Saying whether or not the resurgence of the instrument is "notable" is irrelevant, it died, and now people play it once again. Same with composition. Of course there are more composers for guitar because it's EASIER. Only the best would take the time to study a more complex, sophisticated instrument. The tone argument is purely subjective but I myself find the guitar to be boring, plain, thin, and wispy. The lute has a more full, bright sound. Yes I am aware and in fact this is a big problem for me, deciding whether or not to get one of these guitars you mention or something like, say a 7 course, I was thinking an 8 course lute. With a guitar I can pick it up and play almost immediately, whereas the lute would take a little while getting familiar with, I don't think it would too much of a challenge for any of us. Range may not determine the quality of music, but it is a factor in general. Plus I just really, REALLY like bass, and acoustic bass. And in my circumstances I may have to sometimes play solo, be it whether the music calls for it or the situation.

I forgot to say that the problem lies in finding what would be the best suited for me. There are countless extended range guitars to choose from, many of them would suit my needs. the thing about a lute is, aside from the other stated reasons is that like those guitars it would also be well-suited to the music that I play. They would both do what I need them to, the challenge is finding the best option.
