Glad this fucker's dead. Music was okay doe. What's /mu/'s thoughts on him?
i love him i don't care what anyone thinks about me. his music reflects a lot of the violence and shitty stuff in the world for me. and for gg, it was either deliver papers for the rest of his life, OR BECOME THE CRAZIEST ROCK N' ROLL ANIMAL OF ALL TIME!!! FUCK YEAH GG ALLIN IS GOD!!!
definitely not ryan bud, I guess that wouldnt surprise me as oogles love to stir up shit. I try to avoid most of them while i travel, no time for the "GG Allin is the best thing in the world, do you know where to score some smack?" talk.
I don't know OP I'm on the fence with this guy.
Probably the most insane live performer I guess in music, but can we really give him props for what he did, like coprophagia and punching other persons live to some easy-to-listen punk-rock?
If he had good lyrics and interesting song structures in a way to make his music more "dangerous", he would have been much more interesting. Like if this would have been a front singer of a Harsh Noise ou Power Electronics band like Whitehouse, It could have been one fucked up of a group and truly the most insanes shows ever played for humans entertainment.
shit music, played on shock to make up for lack of talent.
a non musician posing as one. calling him a musician is like calling Hitler a painter, something which is technically true but deceptive. Really, he was a shock performer, the modern equivalent of a grotesque circus freak. He completely misunderstood punk rock, both the musical and cultural aspects of it, he contributed absolutely nothing to music and is frankly an embarrassment to rock music.
He suffered some real nasty abuse from his parents, especially his dad, so it's no wonder he became so fucked up. I think his childhood was so bad he knew how do do nothing but reciprocate that abuse and made it a spectacle, he hopped on the punk rock bandwagon to give his macabre spectacle a stage, but it had nothing to do with music.
We really shouldn't grace him with discussion on a music forum, for he was not a musician, just a deeply disturbed individual who used music as a front for cruelty and depravity.
Remember when GG Allin did pop punk?
This didn't become a hit like he expected, and he changed the aesthetic to gutter rock and started signing about rape.
