Are you saying Deserter's Songs is good or bad? I just heard about these guys and just got through listening to Yerself Is Steam. It's exactly my kind of music. Pure gold. How's the rest of the discography?

well personally, the first half of DS is as gorgeous as anything Mercury Rev has done. However, the 2nd half has some filler moments that kill the momentum of the record a bit. Still a great record, just could have been GOAT

i think he left the group after the turn of the century but, but dont quote me on that ahha

What's sad is the longer they keep making records without Baker the more music there's going to be without him in comparison to with him, so instead of being an awesome band like it was at first, Mercury Rev will end up this dull, shitty band that happen to have two amazing albums buried in their discography. See You On the Other Side was pretty good, though.
