>producin' dank beats
You know it is true.
creating algorithms that produce an endless stream of non repeating music is superior to both.

I've seen some shit where a computer uses Markov chains to pick the next chord in a jazz progression
Don't think there is any commercial software that will write whole songs for you though

There are just tools for composition.

No, this is programming. This is dynamic. This moves far, far beyond composition.

That's nice and well but it has nothing to do with low-brow "producing".

who cares about producing?! just because you made a thread about it doesn't mean anyone wants to pick up on that boring pleb/patrician rethoric YOUR way.
I'm probably completely wrong, but
I've always thought of It as this
A composer writes music to be performed by him or herself or others
A producer writes music to be reproduced exactly as it was produced.
You produce an album, but you compose music for the album.
You produce a track, but you compose for the track.
Therefore music producers never existed before the advent of recorded music. But composers have existed as long as musical ideas could be notated or otherwise conveyed to others.
Emily Howell is my favorite composer bot

A producer is someone who mixes and masters a recording. But nowadays it's also taken to mean someone who composes and produces their own music.

>implying there's something wrong with pulp magazines
ray bradbury, h.p. lovecraft, and philip k. dick all got their start in pulp magazines, among hundreds of other brilliant writers.
