ITT: the most underrated rap albums of all time
Also, general rap album appreciation
I'll start, by far his best work
>>61832626
>not a rap album
Bumping with more
>>61832652
Indicud is not rap?
Self hatred bump
>>61832723
Great taste obviously, just prefer indicud a tad better
>>61832658
this album
god damn
>>61832723
This was mean to be a punk / grunge album.
Let's keep this thing alive!
>>61832626
>BRING YOUR FRIENDS, WE SHOULD GO TO MY HOME, AFTERWARDS, COME ON
>jesus christ girl you got it goin on young lady
>i see pretty girls everywhere i go
10/10 underrated rap album
>>61832626
>>61832716
>>61832723
>>61832817
underrated for a reason, they're utter trash
:)
>>61832817
overrated
>>61832838
Post what you're into them that's supposedly superior
His best imho.
>>61832723
1: That's not hip hop.
2. It's utter trash.
>most underrated overrated genre
>driest lake
time to save the thread with stuff that don't suck
>>61832878
>overrated genre
Does being that autistic hurt?
>>61832855
yea
>>61832870
Great taste!
>>61832898
What even happened to him is he still active I love that song Get By
>>61832928
Last thing he did was prisoner of conscious and gravitas, other than that who knows what he's been doing
Why this is not universally considered one of the greatest hip hop albums ever, I'll never know
Not 100% rap, but still..
Despite weird Africa debacle
>>61833001
this is frequently mentioned as one of the best rap albums ever
>>61833001
But anon this is considered one of the best hip hop albums of alltime
>>61833001
something happened in africa?
>>61833049
He got arrested and they told him to leave
>>61833027
>also, general rap album appreciation thread
>>61833044
>>61833086
what the fuck
is that krizz kalico above the middle left?
and big boi on the left of the dude on the bottom?
what is this?
>>61833109
>>61833054
Somebody gets it!!
>>61833066
yes
Everything by Busdriver
>>61833104
yes that's big boi
no that's not some tech n9ne affilitated cornball
it's a group album by dungeon family that has fallen into relative obscurity
One of my favorite mix tapes next to section 80 right here
Any one got any good instumentals aside from obligatory ...Entroducing and Donuts?
>>61833157
Sorry to break it to you, but section 80 is not a mix tape
>>61833176
Madlib's Beat Konducta series
Inb4 b8
>>61833216
yes
Surprised I haven't seen this mentioned anywhere.
>>61833239
>underrated
>>61833239
because, again, it's utter trash for people who haven't delved beyond stock standard rap
https://mobile.twitter.com/kanyewest/status/688973542524719104
>>61833239
Pretty terrible album. If you've been following/listened to his mixtapes then it's generally the exact same formula and style as his last 3 or 4 tapes. I mean he works so much that his lines are literally the same shit over and over. I'd quote some now but I haven't listened to him since 1 or 2 years ago. Very, very average rapper, you gotta wonder why people put him and J cole in their top 5.
>>61833255
What non-Def Jux white rapper isn't?
>>61833179
HUH well downloaded it off datpiff as a mixtape if I recall
But I guess if not the warm up or friday night lights were good
Just the idea of this arouses me
>>61833179
Kendrick himself considers it a mixtape and even calls it a mixtape in interviews... I agree with you though.
>>61833289
would be a waste of kendrick's time
>>61833157
Mac's best tape IMO. Some cringy "LE DEEP" lines but generally gr8.
Pretty good one I stumbled on through spotify recently
>>61833176
Pete rock's "Petestrumentals" is decent. At least I think it's that album. It has "play dis at night" if that helps.
>>61833319
In what way? If its that j Cole is involved, he's produced over 70% of the music Kendricks ever made
>>61832626
This is the album that made me lose faith in music and question my personal definition of art.
Some of you guys are so harsh with some choices her but I respect the honest opinions.
>>61833289
Why is Cole doing this? It's career suicide. Kendrick is only doing this with him because he was a huge cole fan when he was on the come up. Cole is fucking trash.
>>61833346
Then post what you consider art?
>>61833109
FUCK. YES. This has been slept on. I'm itching for Blaqkout 2.
<<< That being said, this is my submission.
>>61833339
Come on, Cole is nowhere near Kendrick's level.
>"These niggaz think they the shit but I ain't even farted yet"
Damn...
Can't wait for all the J cole dickriders who love and praise him because he "speaks out". Lol, he's so boring.
What does everyone have against J Cole?
>>61833379
idk man
I don't think he's really lived up to the hype he's had around him since his mixtapes but he's still put out solid stuff.
>>61833372
probably won't ever happen unfortunately, last i heard it mentioned was like 2012
stranger things have happened though
>>61833375
Have you heard 2015 yet? Cringy lines are cringy but to hear an artist grow up is pretty great too
Still got a lot of love for this record
>>61833416
Forrest Hills was a return to form. I think there were some decent songs on there but he really isn't good. Just average.
>>61833409
I heard something last year. I can't say who or where I heard it, but I'm holding on to hope ha.
>>61833459
in that case i hope your mysterious sources are correct
Don't hate me
>>61832626
Welcome to Sky Valley is better tbdesu
>>61833399
I enjoy his work honestly.
>>61833488
I wouldn't call it underrated. It seems like everyone who got into hip hop last week was spinning this.
I think he's overrated though.
>>61832658
>underrated
Critics and fans shit themselves over this album
It's overrated if anything 5/10 at best some of the hooks are awful
>>61833517
What's your ideal 10/10 rather than shit posting your unpopular opinion lol
>>61833517
no makeup's hook lmao
>>61833517
I second this. I could never understand what all the hype was about, and then I realised it was hyped up by girls and people who aren't familiar with hip hop.
>>61833556
that sums up TDE altogether
>>61833529
Honestly though I too wanna hear it since you wanna talk trash about everyone's top albums like my metalhead brother.
Dead thread is dead
>>61833562
No doubt, but as soon as he was signed to Aftermath the hype got blown out into the stratosphere
Not underrated. Just enjoyed this album
>>61833600
Literally p4k's aoty. Fuck off
>>61833633
Nah. I'll stay, thanks.
I bumped this today and honestly was going to come home from work and say it was underrated as fuck. Is this a classic yet? I think it's essential 2000s core hip hop.
>>61833797
I didn't listen to this mostly because the who Game/50/G-Unit era gave me a bad taste in my mouth. But I listened to Documentary 2.5 and loved that shit. I wish I wasn't such a shitty teen because I would have listened to this and probably loved it in retrospect.
I have no doubt that it's as good as you think.
>>61833797
it's basically only lauded because the west coast was incredibly dry in 2005 and 50 cent was there for game to ride his coattails
>>61833825
It's full of bangers that you'd probably recognize once you hear it. I was never into 50 and G Unit too much either, but The Game was my boy back in the day.
Actually underrated album coming through.
It's Blu's best and if you disagree you need to go back to Reddit.
>>61833529
>shitposting because I disagree
Butt hurt Kenny fan detected
>unpopular opinion
Then how is this album underrated?
A 10/10 to me doesn't really exist. Some excellent hip hop albums to me would be muddy waters, tical, fear of a black planet.
>>61833578
Calm down not everyone has to agree with you
>>61832658
>Not posting the best Kendrick
Please.
