ITT: Create a Straw Poll for the track listing of an album and others vote on their favorite track. Saw this thread a while ago but haven't seen it since.
Lets start simple:
also is there a beach boys song that doesn't contract the -ing in it's title
once in a lifetime
it completes the emotional arc of the album
i like poledo as much as the next guy, but just like heaven lifts the album from it's lowest point emotionally to it's highest, even if it's height is fleeting melancholy happiness. without it leaves lower than it set out, trudging in it's own misery. with it, it ends happy, even if that happiness is ironic and short lived. its also a great tribute to the original, with the vocals, abrasively different from the original at first, carry the song into it's loud, emotionally fierce guitar solo. it's ending exemplifies the lackadaisical attitude that would continue with slacker rock into the 90s. honestly, id have to write the track a strong ten. Trans-ITION! What do you think of it? Love it? hate it?
LCD Soundsystem - Sound of Silver
I feel that side a does what you describe better, beginning with the angry screaming of little fury things, followed by the loud and noisy kracked and sludgefeast, and ending with the beautiful and melodic the lung. Side b is the exact opposite, beginning with happy songs then ending with poledo, which is a reflection of the lung.
even if you listen to it in vinyl format, unless you listen to each side separately it still flows as one experience
and i listen to everything on cd, which is how the album was actually recorded to flow
Let's test that out then.
