Favourtie obscure albums thread?
>>61829721
Amazing overlooked album from an otherwise mediocre band.

Futari by Calcius Repton. I haven't been able to find anything like it, but it's probably because I don't know how to search for it.
>>61829804
I google searched the cover, they have a bandcamp page and another two albums.
Gerry Rafferty isn't really obscure but no one seems to know about this album. Top tier 70's singer songwriter record that in my opinion rivals a lot of the beatles solo records from that time period.
funmammoths new sea
its the best thing released so far this year
like the avalanches but better
https://soundcloud.com/funkmammoth
its a shame that the rest of his discog is nowhere near as good lol
I like Instrumental
i dont know if this counts as 'obscure' but i never see it talked about
>>61830158
deerhoof arent obscure lmao, its just that no one mentions that album as much
Not as obscure as what many here posted, but still quite obscure.
>>61830158
holdypaws used to be my email address
>>61830124
this is just even more wanky AAL
anyway my chocie
>>61830021
... I already know about those. I bought the album on Bandcamp mate
You never see any of his albums but the original NOTIR (and occasionally Sludge Dredd) mentioned here. For me, the first expansion pack is my favorite. Makes me think of all those weird obscure free trial screensavers and shareware MS-DOS games I downloaded off of AOL Kids when I was 8-12 years old for some reason.

Thanks for all this. Will check out tonight
Gorguts + Incantation + Portal/Mitochondrion = Antediluvian on this album.
Most people know this band for Through The Cervix Of Hawaah, which was more typical Incantation ripoff occult stuff, but I like this better as it's much more interesting and crazy.

Nuno Canavarro - Plux Quba
a beautiful tape music & electroacoustic album, one of the best experimental albums imo (and I'm not much of a fan of experimental music)

agreed this is fantastic..
And Also the Trees - (Listen For) The Rag and Bone Man
A band with a post-punk history make a left turn into art rock and folk. Some pretty great haunting stuff.

As a bass player this is some good shit nigga ily
>>61832697
This is my favorite And Also the Trees album. Their last album, Hunter Not the Hunted was also really good I thought. I actually secretly like their newer super gloomy goth folk stuff more than their earlier post-punk stuff. Although Virus Meadow is still pretty neat.

didn't jim o rourke reissue this or something.
downloading now. thanks for the rec

Der Tag an dem die Welt unterging
>>61830494
Reminds me of Eels
>>61832238
Just because one of their songs is more popular then the others doesn't make them obscure
Surprised no one has brought this one up before
Masterpiece.

Cardiacs are fkn amazing.
>>61832394

>>61832394
Jesus fucking christ, this is great!
Where do I find more stuff like this?
10 Songs by I Hate Myself
The most "obscure" stuff I like is Brian Eno's lesser known ambient colabs, but the fact eno is involved kinda makes it instantly less obscure.
Throbbing Gristle? Completely unknown to the public but pretty entry level industrial I guess.
>tfw none of the music you love is obscure by /mu/s standards
I'm clutching at straws, I love Code:selfish by the fall, its one of their lesser known albums
>>61835534
isn't this like essential screamo
great record tho
>>61829721
oh my god dude thank you i have been looking for this album forever. i've tried googling every combination of the words "folk tommy gun thompson rifle album cover" and come up with nothing
not really obscure, but definitely not popular or well known either
the first three songs are the worst songs on the album, the last 5 are excellent
Khun Narin's Electric Phin Band
>thai orchestra that sounds like the best psychedelic jam band ever https://youtu.be/66mLK_yV7yI
>>61829721
(his 2nd album is even better)
>>61832697
saw them 2 years ago for a small concert in a French baroque mansion: they're still fuckin great.
>>61832316
:^)
I'm not really sure how obscure this is but I've never seen anyone mention it before
>>61829830
