Is punk dead?
>>61800346
The first wave ended, and punk in an essence did die then, but in its initial death gave birth to even better styles and types if music, like post punk, hardcore, ect.
Besides being a meme, the death of punk i think is more about the influence it left behind and in the direction music moved after
>>61800346
nah, but it's far from what it was in the first wave. If you told Joey Ramone in the 70s that his punk movement would influence bands like Nails and Pierce the Veil he wouldn't believe you
also, let's have a discussion on post-hardcore. Will it get any better than it's current state? The biggest bands in post-hardcore right now are either just pop punk with screams or tributes of At the Drive-In and The Fall of Troy, with the notable exception of screamo and artsy hardcore bands like La Dispute and Mewithoutyou. Considering how varied the genre is, their doesn't seem to be a lot of major innovation in the mainstream right now
