YESSSSSSSS FINALLY A JAPAN, SYLVIAN AND KARN APPRECIATION THREAD. One of my favourite bands and my absolute favourite solo artist of all time. Always sounds fresh to listen to. Quiet Life is tied with Tin Drum as my second favourite album, after Gentlemen take Polaroids.
But as >>61787462 said, Sylvian's solo body of work is timeless and highly under appreciated. The man is a genius.
also pic unrelated

Although family, you really need to link more than just his first album and a single, OP if you enjoyed Quiet Life, have a listen to some of Sylvian's albums in this order: Gone to Earth (Disc 1), Brilliant Trees, Secrets of the Beehive, Sleepwalkers and finally Gone to Earth (Disc 2).
His stuff from 2003 and on wards is generally ambient or minimalist and some of it is lyrically really depressing but also super comfy. Rain Tree Crow was also the members of Japan making a new album which is great. If you can find a physical copy of Weatherbox, get it immediately, it's perfect.
again, pic unrelated (other David)
I approve of this thread. David Sylvian is a genius.

I don't really agree with splitting the two discs on Gone to Earth, that'd be like taking a break in the middle of Low or "Heroes".
I totally agree with the need of more links to solo Sylvian stuff though.

*and Rain Tree Crow, which is the best record Japan never released

Tin Drum is GOAT. Secrets of the Beehive is GOAT. Snow Borne Sorrow is GOAT.
Also is he the most attractive man in music?

Great band
I know them because their synth Player later joined Porcupine Tree
How many artists could get a song like this to #5 in the UK? Amazing song.
