Why is Pac considered one of the best?

not trolling, serious question. I didn't give him a try until this year and nah, I don't feel it

Because he died, controversial deaths make people "great" and overrated.
He was good? Yeah.
He was different? Yeah, but not the rap god.

True GOAT. No one comes close.

You have probably never listened to Kanye. He got talent as a musician and as an asshole.
What else do you want in life?
>>
>>61784482
He was loved before his death though, his death intensified the love obviously but he had established himself as a great rapper beforehand.
>>
>>61786627
He's definitely got talent but a god-tier rapper? nah, maybe a god-tier producer but rap wise he's pretty average.

Blackstar and Black on Both Sides are both classics, he may have been a bit underwhelming after that but they will always be great.

>>61784403
do all young white people listen to just whatever young white people listen to or do they still like van halen

you cannot be this ignorant my man, everyone's heard it, it's just old
>>
>>61786767
It's kind of weird with rap though, the majority of rappers fall off after a few records due to laziness or greed (see Jay-Z), consistency is hard to come by because rap has that element x "wack" factor to it. E40 is one of the few rappers to stay in the game (rapping specifically) and not be totally wack. It even happened to Snoop, but he didn't stay rapping necessarily so take it as you will. Rap isn't a genre about longevity, as that anon above said Mos Def killed it on those two records, but released nothing to bother with afterwards unless you really want more Mos Def.

>>

If Tupac was still living he would most likely become one of those rappers who fell off but you never know, he could have been like Ghostface Killah or Pharoahe Monch. I mean Monch has been in the game for 25 years now and still hasn't released something that I would consider bad. There's a few rappers that have managed to stay good, it's a shame that the amount of rappers who do stay great is so little.

I honestly think if Pac had live longer he would have eventually transitioned into acting, because he seemed to really love it and he was actually a pretty good actor. I'm sure every once a while he'd drop a record though.

i believe Pac had already started making the transition into acting before his life got cut short. he worked like a mad man tho so there's no telling how many albums and movies he would have done.
as far as his music, he recorded TONS of records, enough to last a few albums, but there are only a handful of great Pac songs. I've listened to his albums and most of his songs are filler

To me Pac is one of those weird artists that had more good unreleased songs than album songs. Like if you go and look through some of the songs that were recorded from his albums then cut, I find I like a lot of the cut songs more.

Some of it was out of his control though, before he went to Death Row he was forced to tone down some of his records by record companies.

Here's an example of a record he had to completely rerecord.
