It's alright but I find it hard listening to music within the current decade.

JOHNNY JOHNNY OPEN UP JOHNNY ITS FRANK OPEN UP
i remember sily, endtroducing, donuts, and sometimes person pitch being considered as the big albums of sample-based music.
other than that i would check out the books, nightmares on wax (specifically in a space outta sound), kid koala, and dj frane.

why?
this is like sily's bizzaro twin, or at least the album that is left playing at the end of sily when the party's over

There's is just something really contrived and disingenuous about the majority of music that is produced in the current decade. There are a few guys I like based on their originality and genuine creative input, but very few off the top of my head. I feel like most musical acts are trying to recycle musical trends of the past and not focusing on creating something new.

Hm. I think that might be more confirmation bias than anything. You could say that about any decade, really. I guess I'd just make sure you don't write anything off because of that notion alone
Pic related and Daft Punk's Homework.

What I'm trying to say is that I like certain bands even if they do harbour a sound of the past, Sleaford Mods for example. I like them because of how cool a guy complaining about shit he sees daily over loops of post punk bass sounds. But there are just bands who are like "dude let's start a band that's going to be so totally post punk, we're going to have like a crucifix on the front cover or some shit and make it sound like super emotionally tormenting." Its just I don't like things that feel like they're trying hard to be something. It just doesn't feel genuine.

I like this album, and though I personally don't like Homework I can see why some would regard it as a classic, but neither album is similar to The Avalanches.

wrong thread?

Yep, lol
>>61776880
I like Homework, but it's definitely my least favorite of their albums.

Negativland is closer to the obtuse in your face sound of John Oswald style plunderphonics than it is to the dance music re-invention of the technique that The Avalanches did, really I think the closest thing to Avalanches is probably Midnight Vultures by Beck.
