/mu/'s opinion on System of a Down?
Neat, but ultimately went up their own asses
I dig 'em. Theyre the kind of Armenians I actually like
Good to know they aren't completely hated so far.

high-school edgefest, but they're not bad for just that. It's people who think they're the best band ever that makes it cringey
They're a good normie pleaser.
Helped my dad who otherwise mostly listens to Frank Zappa get into metal ages ago, somehow. I think they're alright, but as >>61751432
says it suffers from nu metal syndrome.
I liked them when I was younger so I don't know if it's the nostalgia but when I listen to them again I still like it. Hypnotize (the song) had a profound impact on me and I still love it

Same here
ITT: mu isn't being an asshole for once.

/mu/ always loved SOAD
it was uncool to admit it back in 2013 but in the post-post-ironic era everyone just basically admits how they fell
It's refreshing to hear an alternative metal band that's actually good, or at the very least decent, every once and while.
This album is pretty good alternative metal. Honestly I'd give their debut a solid 8 out of 10.
They went downhill after their debut though. Toxicity had next to no good songs on it besides Psycho, Science, and the s/t track. STA! is completely forgettable, and Hypnotize/Mezmerize have songs that range from meh to downright obnoxious shit.

I don't know man, Hypnotize had some songs that I enjoyed. But you're totally right about the debut album.

I call them Syndrome of a Down
