yours is fantastic though always a classic
yes but faces is better the earl's beats on it are terrific as always like in star room and im not real
I felt a thing of "being so poor the cold cuts through your coats" listening to this one, but it was still some violent horrorcore fun with linings of conscious rap
Apologies for 'meme rap' but I really think Bones struck gold with this one. It's pretty cohesive and atmospheric, I definitely recommend it.
this thread is dank as hell
dope. congratulations all of you for your tastes. especially op. you made a really good thread here
Try this holmes. Not too dark, but the shit behind it and the ensuing songs makes it. Masta Ace was on top back in the 90s, but he waited around too long and almost faded into complete obscurity. This album was his goodbye to hip-hop before returning in 2004 with the classic A Long Hot Summer.
Stop shilling. You are going to reply to yourself "yes its being viraled we" because you have some vendetta against Jonathan. It's so obvious. Even the way you described it was so off its not even funny.
>drugs are cool
Never is that ever implied in the album and if you honestly feel that way you clearly didnt get the message.
>unironically edgy bullshit
It's not that edgy, but when it is, its pretty clear that Jonathan is being ironic. Just stop. If you dont get it, leave it alone, stop baiting for the whole "viral" meme its here to stay. Let it go.
i had that reaction the first time i skimmed through the tracks too. you need to either open up to it fully or ignore it, but it is good. really well-produced.
hes probably just a newfag.
Many months ago it was memed a lot with tons of opposition from the few actual fans. My assumption is that it originally was viralled but at this point I wouldnt say that's the case. I dont agree with what you said about it though.
Not saying youre wrong necessarily, but how does that make it a meme? At all? its an abstract portrayal of an angry kid. I will agree with you that the description is awful but Im pretty sure its supposed to be ironic. Im not sure. Although I do see why he wants to encourage listening to it high. The first time I heard it I wasnt really paying attentiona dn wrote it off, but eventually came back to it and really gave it a chance. Its very well put together, the way the songs are structured. Lyrics are usually impressive too, but there are a couple bad moments.
i remember the "its not a meme, its trip-hop" argument happening a lot kek
>trips say the truth
i would prefer for us to stop discussing it and get to some more responses to op
its just corny white boy rap no different than necro or a bunch of other shit, just because the creator is so up their own ass that they feel the need to over explain their own album doesn't mean its deep.
>its supposed to be ironic
this is exactly what rap needs less of.
>its just corny white boy rap no different than necro or a bunch of other shit, just because the creator is so up their own ass that they feel the need to over explain their own album doesn't mean its deep.
this is why your post is wrong
nice trips i totally agree but the shills are using your ironic comment as fuel to hate. be more careful with your word choice next time. make em have to work for an actual critique.
This. I remember hearing Rest in Piss in Pat Burke's part in a $lave video that came out a while back. Shit goes hard as fuck. It's a shame Brotha Lynch went full horrorcore and signed to Tech Nine's label.
I know its production and lyrics are stellar.
Nah Angry Kid was deep. Thats the thing about deep albums, most people dont get it. Its a trippy deep though, like it isnt one you can really translate into words. Some cringy moments yea thats why I only gave it an 8.5 but I can see it going down as a classic in its own lane. Not even exaggerating.
MM3 is probably better and more depressed, this cover is better though.
Holy shit this. Only an EP but I thought it was incredible.
>mfw when /mu/ shares a gem with me and later scolds me for falling in love with it
im talking about this one here ^ not today, but I posted this album a couple days ago and got some discussion but lots of irrelevant namecalling as well
>Da$h - 17 More Minutes
It's top 3 rap album from last year, crazy how many people slept on this album and Da$h in particular
Its abstract hip hop at its finest, the beats and lyrics hit home for me, and the dark atmosphere is also nice
check it out
i wish he did more with this style, minus the shitty sound quality OC. I like lo-fi, and I think it works very well for Earl but this was kind of ridiculous.
>I got my grandmama's hands, I start to cry when I see 'em
>Cause they remind me of seein' her
>These the times that I needed her most cause I feel defeated
ffs Earl :'(
>implying you're not just trying to shill your album
I swear to god you're on every rap thread, you've been called out multiple times, just fucking stop it
go shill your shitty album somewhere else, your music is cringeworthy
not him but wtf are you talking about?
Angry Kid was AOTY check the thread and no ive been here for a while and its been proven countless times that what you said is not at all the case.
Get used to it, more and more people are hearing this album so either offer some real criticism or fuck off.
Another good choice.
Pic related is mine.
Faces is still his best work and much darker than either GOOD AM or Watching Movies. Good AM sounds like he's cleared up and out of the woods of depression to some extend, and Watching Movies always seemed too pretentious and try-hard "art" for my tastes, but I appreciate it, albeit less than most fans of the album.
I don't like shit is better than Doris in every imaginable facit. Though there were flashes of the brilliance that makes IDLS so good on Doris, like Sunday, IDLS is still a much better album. Doris feels like the album he felt he had to make to appease his fans that were a fan of EARL, but his head and heart weren't in it so they fell short. IDLS felt like the album he genuinely wanted to make.
my kind of thread. here we go.
Yung Lean - Sad Boys 2001, Unknown Death 2002
Man Bites Dog - Noir
Spooky Black - Leaving E
FKA Twigs LP1
>Not posting the better alt cover.
