The Beatles

if a person says they hate the beatles they're either a liar or very ignorent to their music
>>
>>
>>61639679
On the line of creedance id say the eagles and fleetwood mac
>>
>>61639768
Yeah im aussie id agree. I know a few others wouldnt but if the band makes you headbutt along to the music they're doing something right
>>
>>61639712
Hmmm can we say with john on this one? i dont like the idea of a core member to the sound being replaced by someone new. It just doesnt seem right to me. It's like you wouldnt replace jimmy page in led zeppelin
>>
>>61639794
>On the line of creedance id say the eagles

If you knew a little more about Don Henley, you wouldn't say that.

Anthrax - of all the Big 4 thrash bands, they're probably the most bro-tier and least douchebaggy.
>>
>>61639794
eagles are hated by big lebowski fags
>>
>>61639794
You're joking about The Eagles, right?
They're awful, they're the antithesis of where rock should have been going at the height of their popularity.
The Dude, Stephen Malkmus, Kurt Cobain, these people hated The Eagles
>>
>>61639679
Tame Impala
>>
>>61639924
in fear of getting slaughtered why do everyone hate the eagles so much haha? i have watched that documentary movie they did recently and i thought it was rad some biffs and shit which were like eeek. But other then that joe walsh and shit are some seriously talented dudes

^THISTHISTHIS

Henley is one of the single most douchebaggy people in rock. Forever being butthurt about copyrights and downloading and being Grandpa Simpson personified in his rants about how he hates young people and anything that happened after 1981. Seriously, the guy put out an entire album of butthurt (Inside Job) about everything and everyone that rustles his personal jimmies.

No, fuck. The Eagles were a tumor on popular music.
>>
>>61640029
Yeah i can understand i even watched an interview on the old guitarist coming back for the reunion a few years ago and henley wanted to give him little to no rights and he was an original core member to the band. But its like when people say john lennon was a douche yeah he was but he did right some great songs. Mediocre voice at the time standard guitar. But he could write some brilliant songs
>>
>>61640093
write my bad
>>
>>61639961
Joe Walsh is great. It's the Don Henley-type parts of the band that can go to hell.
>>
Also the Eagles always play their songs exactly like the record. Even in the 70s, they did it like that. What's the bleeding point of live music then?
>>
Life In The Fast Lane is a sick tune, other than that the Eagles are pretty forgettable.
>>
>>61639821
im aussie as well and i dont really like them. is it just me?

I had my moments in life. Growing up i thought acdc ruled. Highschool gave them the impression to me they were a bogan rock band. But im nearly turning 26 soon been hard into music my whole life especially guitar and i dont see acdc as genius the greatest music ever made but i see it has a good time. You will never ever watch an acdc concert and think this sucks. Well not in my opinion anyway. Just huge sound. Also the young family are a seriously talented family. All of them
>>
Hotel California is a masterpiece
>>
>>61640029
>Henley is one of the single most douchebaggy people in rock. Forever being butthurt about copyrights and downloading and being Grandpa Simpson personified in his rants about how he hates young people and anything that happened after 1981

Their concerts are a snoozefest and the average age of the audience at them is about 60, so I guess he got what he wanted.
>>
>>61640388
kek'd my dad is 60 and its his favourite band along with creedance. accurate.
>>
>>61640386
No. It tries so hard to be an epic, but its just fucking cheesy. The chorus is a joke to me. "Such a lovely face (such a lovely face) such a lovely place (such a lovely place)" with those hilariously bad background vocals? Theres some things going for that song, but there's so much in there that totally ruins it.

Guys like DH and Gene Simmons are amazingly disconnected dinosaurs who don't understand how the world today works or how the 60s-80s was just a fluke era when recorded music became a cash cow. Back in pre-Beatles times, you hardly made anything from record sales and now it seems we've gone back to those days.

Why? The 60s-80s had a couple of lucky coincidences that resulted in huge record sales. These included a giant baby boomer audience to sell music to and also a proliferation of different formats from vinyl to 8 tracks to cassettes to CDs, meaning that you could sell the same album over and over again on different formats.

"Rock music is dead. Rappers are the new rock stars. They're edgy, they have attitude, they flash around big stacks of money, they ride in a limo with girls hanging off their arms. I mean, we all love that, right? They make you want to be them. The point is that rock stars aren't supposed to be ordinary people. And then at some point, they became ordinary people. The music got bland, it got boring, and people stopped listening to it."
>>
>>61641005
>They're edgy, they have attitude, they flash around big stacks of money, they ride in a limo with girls hanging off their arms.

Not a single rock star who acted that way didn't end up being a complete joke.
>>
>>61641055
He's still butthurt about Nirvana.

"There's no legendary artists today. Going down the list, I can think of Elvis, the Beatles, the Rolling Stones, Led Zeppelin, Michael Jackson. But after about 1984, who is there? And you can't say Nirvana because releasing two albums and then killing yourself doesn't make you a great artist."
>>
>>61641113
Truth be told, I let out a solid kek at that last line
>>
The Beatles were the pioneers of pretty much all music after them and let's just face it, Nirvana is overrated

Forum post I found somewhere (this is from 2008 IIRC)

"My family owns a music venue and for understandable reasons I won't say where it is. Anyway, the Eagles were performing here last spring and Don Henley (who was like 60) was trying his damndest to pick up my 23 year old sister whom I'm fairly sure isn't an Eagles fan. Needless to say, she wasn't moved by him and he didn't get anything. I guess he could have always tried to score with some fat Botoxed MILF groupie from the 70s. Lord knows, there were plenty of them in that audience."

Real answer to this thread is Modest Mouse. Probably the best indie band in the last 20 years.

My dad had a college roommate that was a big proghead and was especially obsessed with Yes. Anyway, he said that his roomie used to lose his shit at music magazines that had Keith Emerson on the cover nominated for Keyboardist of the Year and he'd yell about "What the fuck man. KE is the worst keyboardist I've ever heard! This is bullshit? Who the heck are they paying off!?"

Apparently the dude wrote some angry letter-to-the-editor to one of these mags.

I heard John Fogerty is pretty much the worlds biggest douche in music. Didnt he hate his band mates for signing a record label? then he signed the rights away to more songs then what they signed to get out of a contract? now for like 30+ years hes refused to tour with his band mates. One of them currently dying from cancer. Hes made his band mates to sound like the worlds biggest assholes but i see what he did just as bad. Correct me if im wrong

The moment you do that, there goes your audience and "cred". That's why the Rolling Stones lost it in the mid-70s. They became bloated, decadent celebrities who couldn't connect with the kids anymore. Punk happened for a reason and especially because British kids found it mildly insulting to have these guys like circa 1975 Stones riding around in limousines with hookers when the country's economy was broken.
>>
>>61641706
If you can name 3 BOC songs off the top of your head, I'll accept it
>>
>>61641715
This.

None of the other members of CCR were consequential, and they played simple, rudimentary parts that lacked any sort of distinction, other than supporting Fogerty.
>>
>>61641715
That's true, there's pretty much no incentive to get the group back together, either from his perspective or the fans'. Nobody listens to CCR for the bass or drums, it's John's voice, guitar, and writing that's always been the main attraction, he can play with whatever musicians he wants.

As long as us as respectable parents teach our kids the power of great songwriting hopefully this music will live on. Its a fucking joke seriously like over the years ive become one of those people who has slowly stopped listening to radio and i barely watch tv. Literally only watch tv when im having dinner and seriously when i hear the radio now i want to kill myself. Every every song sounds the same. Nothing now recaptures the sound of a live band and it makes really sad that this is what music has turned into. I dont mind producing beats on fruity and shit but its not the same. As long as us as future parents teach our kids what good music was. I will bring my kids up on the beatles, status quo, just heaps of old cool shit.

Hallelujah! Finally someone who agrees with me. Hopefully everyone else in this thread agree as well that today's "music" is total shit. I'm still trying to figure out at what point musicians stopped using their creativity and talent and love in the music they create. Fuck you, I was just about to post The Band. Besides Robertson in the 70's onward, you can't hate anything about them.

Ocean man, take me by the hand, lead me to the land
That you understand
Ocean man, the voyage to the corner of the globe
Is a real trip
Ocean man, the crust of a tan man embibed by the sand
Soaking up the thirst of the land

Ocean man, can you see through the wonder of amazement
At the oberman
Ocean man, the crust is elusive when it casts forth
To the childlike man
Ocean man, the sequence of a life form braised in the sand,
Soaking up the thirst of the land

Ocean man...

Ocean man...

Ocean man...

Ocean man, take me by the hand, lead me to the land
That you understand
Ocean man, the voyage to the corner of the globe
Is a real trip
Ocean man, the crust of a tan man embibed by the sand
Soaking up the thirst of the land

Ocean man, can you see through the wonder of amazement
At the oberman
Ocean man, the crust is elusive when it casts forth
To the childlike man
Ocean man, the sequence of a life form braised in the sand,
Soaking up the thirst of the land

Ocean man...
