is this a good place to start with XTC?
discuss XTC as well
Yes it is. I'd also recommend English Settlement. It's a good middle ground between their pop side and the more pastoral material that defined their mid-period stuff.
meh, I do'nt like their postpunk/new-wave era. But I highly I recc' these ones:
- Skylarking
- the Dukes of Stratosphear album + EP
- Nonsuch eventually
- Apple Venus 1

that one
if you liked that listen to all of the albums up till The Big Express
if you didnt like that listen to skylarking and then all the albums after that

Enjoy it mang, my dad introduced me to XTC when I was very young and I've loved them ever since. Great band.

I recommend XTC fans check out Field Music, who are pretty much the modern XTC, and their side projects. They've had a huge hand in shaping the prog-pop scene in the NE of England in the last 16 years.

English Settlement is the perfect starter, a mix of the early and later stuff

White Music is fucking rad, but not typical of their discog.

personally I love Measure most of all, but all their stuff is at least great-tier desu
kinda on hiatus, but i want to collect all xtc albums. so far it's pretty good, i even have an original pressing of the first 3D EP signed by andy partridge.
also, might be of interest, there's a pretty recent collab album between partridge, andrews and some other guy, basically avant improv jazz, which is cool as shit.
