I was going to wait and email after I thought of more bands to ask about but just ended up doing these two impulsively because of what was on the top of my head
Also fucking >>61607176 >>61607329
i emailed him once telling him to "review the new julian casablancas album its better than that peace [sic] of shit garbage trout mask replica that u pretend to like to look cool"
the next day he gave it a 4.5/10
>i was tyring to make him like me
he gets emails like this every hour of every day. what he sees when he reads them is 15 year old pimple faced thick rim-glasses wearing faggot hipsters who use music as fashion
just doing you a favor
>inb4 le projection xD
thanks for bumping my thread bud
Oh I'm not denying you're totally right
I just wanted to know what he would say so I was just saying what I thought he'd want to hear
Which is a lot what I would have written if I actually did want to sound eloquent
3 times :
- one for a translation
- one about Metal Machine Music's rating change when Lou Reed died (even posted the caps here)
- once about his political view of Russia where he gave a surprinsingly long answer.
Nothing too interesting, really. Told him how big a fan I was. Recomended him a few albums. Asked him if he wanted a rip of one of the cassettes I mentioned because it's literally impossible to get through normal means, he said yes so I sent him the files.
Marcel replied to me.
I feel bad?
I'm fairly sure you'll like them, even if some of their albums might seem gimmicky they're always exploring different concepts with each release and the ever-changing nature of their music should be able to satisfy your ADHD
lol everytime I see you I just tell you this just to fuck with you
I honestly can't decide which I like most just because under so many different kinds of standards just about any of their albums could be considered to be their strongest, I get why you like Sing to God though.
I know :)
I too get why I like StG the most, but I really think it's their best album, and not just because it's my favorite.
>OP's thread was related to music critics
>discussion towards other music critics emerge
I don't see anything surprising.
yeah I already feel bad for sending the email to him
Marcel if you're seeing this I actually am sorry and I respect your response. I wish you didn't do things like you did with Devin but you are still a good person, stay that way and away from /mu/.
>he likes music like everyone else here.
>he wants to fit in
The problem with Marcel is that his taste is the same cliquish Needledrop/ Pitchfork shit everyone on the internet already listens to. He offers no knew perspectives, nothing worth thinking twice about, and mentioning him at all reinforces the idea that generic indie and related shit is all there is to listen to.
>same cliquish Needledrop/ Pitchfork shit everyone on the internet already listens to
this was the first album he gave an 8/10 to this year. i have seen no one but him talk about it:
also it seems like he's been growing away from indie stuff regardless and posting more obscure bandcamp releases such as the one i linked. he also likes Henry Flynt's music a lot, which makes him alright in my book.
Liking Henry Flynt is his most a'ight quality, but still. People blow up his liking one halfway decent experimental artist into a stroke of fucking genius.
And when he's not rating Indie he's rating the exact same kind of entry level or random soundcloud artists most indie fanboys gravitate to.
As a person, he could be the most likeable person in the world for all I care. I never read too much of his or Fantano's reviews or his vlogs or however it is they communicate to people.
The problem is, as far as ratings or analyses, it's the same commercial advice you'll see anywhere else.
