Angels of Light.... Good Swans side project or a meme band?

Please don't say the m-word.

Great side project. Beyond worthy of that title.

Their best moments rival the best of Swans, though they miss that grand album-encompassing coherency that makes Swans albums so grand. This does make Angels of Light more digestible, and honestly I haven't found much that sounds like Gira's way of approaching folk rock styles on the AoL albums.

Personally I like the We Are Him album. Its the one I own and I just like the instrumentation. Promise of Water is a cool song.

The first two AoL albums are GOAT. The problem is that after that point Gira gets more and more turned on by the concept of turning his country-folk-symphonic baby into Swans-lite gradually over the course of several albums and loses his way.

Quality-wise, the whole Swans-AoL-Young God crew peaked with How I Loved You and to be honest nothing since has been necessary.
