swish swish swish
Soundcloud couldn't take the load
There you niggas go
this is the first remotely good thing kanye has released since yeezus, but it still sounds very work in progress
i'm pretty excited for the finished product though.
and man that cover ugh yes this rocks
>GOOD fridays are back
>Have to wait a whole week for that K Dot
Thank you Ye
that's part of the ruse
you click the link hoping for a new kanye song and it's deleted, so you're forced to desperately crawl through the internet asking people for a copy
kanye is a genius desu :^)
I really can't stand this "oh this celebrity is rich and famous and I don't like them so they're not allowed to have normal people problems" meme that people spout whenever someone like Kanye is mentioned.
Nigga you sound like A Dose Of Buckley. Fuck off with that pretentious shit.
i'm guessing this song was written early 2015 because of the stolen laptop thing and "I got my own Jr. on the way, dawg", and plus that's when he worked with ty $ on all those other songs
pretty underwritten for a song that old but whatever, he has enough resources to touch it up in time for the album. which i'm guessing will drop #beforemarch
that cover + the lyrics and instrumentals makes me think he's gonna try and make a more mature followup to his first 3 school themed albums. like a highschool themed one.
basically the album everyone always begs him to make.
>yeah, but he did it in five minutes and it's not gonna be on the album
>it's not great
>yeah but it's not finished even though it's obviously finished
ye stans it's okay to be a lil disappointed in your fav
we've all been there.
his laptop was stolen earlier this year, that's how that song "awesome" leaked.
also looks like i'm wrong about the date, this song may be way older than that
i was always there, in your heart.
I don't think facts is going to be on the album, freestyles aren't his thing, if anything, he'll completely redo it, but Ye does just toss away tracks a lot.
2/3rds of the song he's been featured on in the past few years were originally going to be on his album but eventually just went to other artists.
he called it a snippet and the lyrics refer to his kid not being born. on top of that a lot of rhymes, in my opinion, sound like placeholders for his ghostwriters to touch up.
so it's clearly not finished
It was okay. People will not hesitate to abuse their flame emojis and spam how it's lit, but that's just overcompensation for the fact that they're doubting their god. "TELL ME YE FELL OFF AFTER THIS SENPAI" -- gonna be seeing a lot of that. Kendrick song sounds better, but I think Kanye got all his danger out of him with Yeezus, which wasn't even particularly dangerous. But it was different, and that was cool.
>It will be back up shortly. When it’s back up all rippers please rip the new one instead.
I feel good that Facts was just a freestyle considering how bad the beat and bars were.
Kanye's standard is high and anytime he tries an off the cuff freestyle type of thing it gets shat on immediately.
This is the Kanye I like.
Facts is just a look back on 2015 thrown together for fun, Kanye was just a retard for releasing that instead of a new SWISH track. At most it might end up being a bonus track or something.
However Real Friends sounds too much like what we've already heard to somehow be thrown away, and the other song is a snippet because obviously the full version is on the album (either unfinished or good enough to be only teased for now).
I just hope Can You Be Real didn't get the boot.
Kanye's twitter used to be far more active and personalised. I miss that. He's deleted all his old tweets and pretty much only tweets for promotion now
I think this is what's happening.
It was my first thought anyways, and it's smart. Gets you to a hip hop/music community real fast just to listen, and youll end up talking to or reading users discussing the song.
Even if it's not intentional, it's pretty brilliant.
Kanye getting way too excited when posting new tracks
>FACTS was the wrong mastering at first
>so was Real Friends apparently
>accidentally deleted the wrong tweets
>made a typo when tweeting again and deleted it again
he kawaii tho
Album dropping Feb 18. Just heard the whole thing. I can't say much about it, but Wolves has been scrapped and replaced with Lions featuring Swae Lee. Swae Lee is on quite a few of the tracks, I think he's getting signed to GOOD.
Also it seems like he's taken from Kendrick's book as he has GKMC style skits at the end of each track. Except the skits are literally excerpts from various Luther Vandross interviews and speeches and shit to serve as a narration.
He also has a song for each of his family members. So there's a Kim, a North, a Saint, and a Donda. Each of these features never heard Luther Vandross vocals.
Oh yeah and the album's official name is SWISH: A MUSICAL TOUR OF KANYE WEST'S MIND: NARRATED BY THE ONE AND ONLY LUTHER VANDROSS.
The artwork is a picture of Saint and North in front of this framed photograph of Luther Vandross.
Forgot to mention that the closing track to the album is a Kanye remix to the Luther Vandross classic Dance With My Father, and it's dedicated to North and Saint. Very touching.

Kanye's going to release a music video for Facts (it's not gonna be on the album though), and it is pretty much identical to this music video. The effects and outfits and everything are exactly the same.
It doesn't have a Luther skit.
I know what you're thinking.
>Only One's gonna be on the album and that doesn't have a Luther skit!
Kanye didn't decide on the whole Luther influence until around the time TPAB came out. Remember when he tweeted about how TPAB inspired him? It led to him ditching music and just thinking and thinking until inspiration came.
It took fucking weeks. But then he had a dream where his mother came to him and claims that Luther Vandross came to her in heaven and taught her the Power of Love.
That's one of the central concepts to the album: The Power of Love. It plays a similar role to the Yams in TPAB, except it mentioned much more frequently.
Oh it's fantastic.
When I first heard it, I danced with my father to the beat. There is never too much listening to SWISH. Give me the reason to stop listening to this album. A house is not a home until you play SWISH in it. You just have to stop to love it. If I didn't know better, I'd say it was a terrible album. Here and now, this is the best album I've ever heard. It's so amazing. It's what the world needs now.
how could anyone not love Wolves
The beat actually sound like howling wolves and it's fucking chilling, and the instrumental change up on Vic Mensas part is just beatiful
It's also got that cinematic, epic feel that Kanye does so well. If it's not on Swish I hope it will be one of the new good fridays songs or on released under Cashmere Cats name
Fade sounds cool too, got a pretty great house beat
If Trevor truly is ITT then we have a minor celebrity here because this guy is actually real lel.
INSIDER BRO HERE
I WAS ABLE TO SNAP A PICTURE OF SWISH'S ALBUM ARTWORK
Can i trust you.. lately kanye been quite trash
it's nothing like Facts
it's Kanye sounding like Kanye not Kanye (trying) to sound like everyone else
>mbdtf is a 10
how is that possible when 40% of the album is literally garbage 0/10
>Crossing out the best songs on the album.
New here, kiddo?
>All of the lights
>lost in the world
>Who will survive
can i rip this or something
because this shit is getting annoying
I'm really sad, after this track.
After Lupe Fiasco announced his retirement https://twitter.com/LupeFiasco/status/685542934792564737, it seems like, Kanye is really retiring, hes making average tracks for purpose... its sad.
It's better to him retire now, with a chillout rap/abstract rap album instead hes continue ruining his legacy as Jay Z.
stop directing people to that you fucking disrespectful piece of trash
song reminded me more of late registration
im really hoping you're all ktt and /r/hiphopheads faggots who come to mu everytime you're looking for a leak
i refuse to believe /mu/'s standards of quality music is this low
>all of the lights and blame game
>one of the best tracks on the album
i bet you think tame impala is a good band and that earl sweatshirt is an above average rapper
I'm sure they are fags from Reddit but mu really is this terrible now. I mean there's tons of faggot fans of Grimes here. Just try to criticize her and see all the pussies come out of the woodwork.
>I mean there's tons of faggot fans of Grimes here.
yeah but theres an explanation for why, they're just delusional waifufags
>/mu/ has loved MBDTF for years
i take it you only visit here when there are leaks for overhyped rap albums/tracks. you do realize that these threads are filled with other ktt and /r/hhh users right?
come on mu on any other day where there isnt a kanye leak and start a MBDTF fantasy thread and you'll see how wrong you are
how is fine art and kanye west related?
I like Kanye's music and all but its really sad and pathetic how so many people (redditors mainly) think he is God and can do no wrong. Face it hes fucking overrated. Very talented and one of the best rappers but still overrated.
No my feelings are hurt because I stopped coming to this garbage board and I decided to check in since new Ye dropped and suddenly everyone thinks that only reddit holds MBDTF in high regards? A large majority of the board praised MBDTF years ago, its just sad to see how hard the quality of the board has dropped.
Its not just /mu/ though, its happening on /tv/ as well. Maybe its just an influx of /b/tards branching out from their containment board or something who knows
but like, what do those sites have to do with shit taste? /mu/ has KPOP general and constant waifu threads and threads unironically praising Future and Rae Sremmurd and you think we're BETTER than those other sites? hop off
Yeah no I was a visitor around the time that Acid Rap dropped and I kept coming here daily for a few years. MBDTF was highly regarded, I just think its probably all the /b/ and /pol/ autists who listen to Metallica
Prob not even Metallica.. There's tons of faggots who only praise vapid overproduced radio pop and nothing else. Or overpraised rap albums
No one is "obsessed" with reddit but its undeniable that tons of teenager fags from there have come here over the years.
Well excuse me for giving him the benefit of the doubt. Yes his production skills is what I like, but I still prefer his rapping out of most others. Dont give 2 fucks what you consider "highly regarded"
why do you care about what's highly regarded or critically acclaimed?
aesthetic quality is subjective
Scaruffi and Fantano make opinion reviews, not fact reviews
Who would listen to those guys as gospel anyway? Good critics but those guys are way too fucking critical over small things that its annoying
I don't listen to critics. I listen to my own opinion. I may watch Fantano once in a blue moon when a new album comes out I like but thats it
i like it /mu/
I know what you're saying because most MBDTF threads nowadays consist of shitposting, but /mu/ LOVED MBDTF for a long time, and even today if you make an actual poll about it it will be more positive than negative.
then why are you talking about highly regarded? did you mean highly regarded by you? why the fuck would we know or care about htat?
I didn't say highly regarded did I? I say I like him for his musical abilities but he's damn overrated and the fan boys are beyond fucking annoying. Any constructive criticism either gets people slinging insults or people justifying shit instead of just taking it at face value..
Actually, I think you're confusing me with the other anon, I agreed with you.
>Lol, people like him because of his production, his rapping has never been highly regarded. Educate yourself.
I know I'm gonna sound like a giant faggot here but to understand the reception MBDTF got you have to understand that it relied a lot on the timing and context and expectations. MBDTF is essentially a consolidation of Kanye's previous 4 albums which were all very different and well-received, and it combined all this in a cohesive way while also including new elements and a new narrative style that he hadn't done before.
Let me put it this way, imagine an artist you're a fan of putting out an album that is literally exactly what you were wanting as a fan when you heard "new album coming," and it even goes a step or two beyond that.
I wasn't a giant Kanye fan or anything. I was as much a fan as the next guy, but he wasn't one of my favorite artist or something. If my memory serves right, College Dropout came out my freshman year in high school and this my junior year of college. Those 4 previous albums were ubiquitous during those years so everyone was very familiar with them and a lot of people were at least a casual fan. I wasn't on /mu/ or reading any music sites and didn't know of the critical acclaim or whatever. I distinctly remember in the fall of '10 seeing this album had leaked, downloading it, burning it, popping it in my car, and the second the beat dropped on "Dark Fantasy" I had a smile on my face the whole way through and was engrossed in a way that I'm not sure I had experienced with an album up to that point, and it instantly became heavy rotation. It was everything I could have possibly wanted out of it.
Now consider that a lot of people at the time, including critics, had the same expectations and hopes for this album, and when it met all of those expectations and then some it felt like a home-run. If critics gave his other albums a 9 or 9.5 when they came out, it only made sense to them to give this one a 10... (too long had to split it)
(cont.) ...Like many critically acclaimed albums and movies, as the years go on, the context of the timing and how it felt at that time are forgotten, and we're able to analyze it more objectively and a lot better. This is why I'm not a huge fan of critics in the first place, so much of their analysis is dependent on the context of "right now." I know now that MBDTF isn't a "perfect record." Some of the verses are cringeworthy, I hate that Chris Rock thing, a lot of the features were gimmicky and pointless, the mixing is downright atrocious. But dammit, when that album dropped it sure as hell felt like a 10/10.
