My most expensive vinyl is also the best album ever created on Earth. It's so good that I bought two.
>rarest/most expensive record
I have two copies of pic related. Only 500 were pressed, and they're hand numbered. I got them both for about $100 all together. Now they're going for $100 each. I got a pretty sweet deal.
Rarest: Darkthrone - F.O.A.D.
Currently there are no reeissues of it so they're in limited circulation. Last time I checked they went for 150-120 dollars on Discogs. I think that might be my rarest record. Either that or Toner Low - II
Most expensive: Conqueror - War.Cult.Supremacy
Not super rare but it costs around 80 euros plus shipping. You do get lots of stuff though and their whole output. Great stuff if you're into the genre.
Exmilitary. Bought it in the period before TMS came out for 20 bucks.
Other stuff that's worth a decent amount:
Freak Out original pressing
E&A - First Born
I dunno, I'm not super up-to-date on what stuff is worth.
i don't believe in photography, so no evidence 4u
Satan's Almighty Penis - Thy Foulness Cum 7" w/ autograph poster (I think only 25 came with the poster)
Get Up Kids - 4 minute mile (dog house repress on clear vinyl) goes for about $100 last time I looked
Do local albums count as rare? I have a bunch of local band CDs that were given to me for free. I got most of them directly from the band members and they were all labeled by hand in sharpie or the booklet/cover is printed on plain printer paper. Nobody really knows or cares about any of the bands, but I don't think there are very many of them floating around.
Yeah, that's true. The problem is that I wouldn't be able to sell them if the bands ever get super famous. There's no way to prove that the bands actually wrote on them in sharpie and gave them to me. Anybody can fake that.
This is probably my rarest but Captain Murphy - Duality is probably my most expensive.
I spent $50 on a LP made out of Meredith's hoochie sheddings. Worth it.
copped this on record store day. i think it was limited to like 500-600 pressings or something
not my picture but you get the point
>tfw spending $30 on 2 songs you've never heard before
>tfw not dissapointed
YOU PUT DA LIME IN DA COCONUT
Someone please help
there's literally no info about this album on the internet
Oh man...you have no idea what i'd do for this
Every early Swans release, pre Children of God. Holy Money is still sealed, Filth on clear vinyl. The Japanese version of Cop is probably the rarest/most valuable though. Other than these, the rarest in my collection is probably Miranda by Tappi Tikarrass, which I have two of....also Exmilitary.
Only one I have is this one from when I got it
Prolly my two first print Stooges records, but Mezzanine and Let It Be are up there too
I guess I also have the mono edition of Days of Future Past, which is just silly rare considering how big of an album it was, but its in pretty shitty condition
aw you lucky fucker
Heads Up is so awesome and I'll never find a copy
This is a scan and not a picture, but this is my copy of the 1st pressing of Crimes by The Blood Brothers. Powder blue vinyl numbered / 333.
>those white bars on the actual physical
>not just badly cropped .jpgs
>had to crop it myself to remove the obviously out of place white bars that clearly do not belong there.
>my mfw when
Yeah I almost had mine that day but ill tell you the store
>HUGE fan of Captain Murphy since Duality came out
>have no bank account
>use my buddy to purchese all my online things
>see Duality vinyl is on sale
>buddy is out of town for the weekend
>can't order it
>when they came back it was sold out
>full of rage to this day
>enter a contest for the Duality vinyl
>some no name youtuber
>like 7 people comment on the vid
>I dont win
>more rage insues
Also I missed it when they resold them
Funny captcha though
This thing in Red/Yellow swirl. Limited to 500 I think.
I hate playing it though because it's 45rpm and I have to take my platter off.
also got the romantic right clear vinyl, 2 times. only 253 made.
well, a bunch of other stuff
Oh man thats harsh
I think I was the first person to buy on the site considering I had 10 ping to their webserver and saw it change to available the split second it was up
I was not going to chance it. I really loved the album but I was super interested in the instrumentals on the second disc. I've probably listened to them just as much as the album itself
Now I just need to snag 1984 at a decent price
Christ all my jelly
I just want a copy of heads up. I almost won one a while back too
haha, I'm a massive Björk fan and have almost every Björk related vinyl release so I tend to buy every decently priced rare item that I find. The only main things I'm missing are Songull by KUKL and the first Tappi Tikarrass album.
Thanks! Nah, they were mostly just lucky Ebay/Discogs finds. Cop was surprisingly only about $85, which is decent since it's pretty mint.
My apologies for the sideways photo.
I wouldn't buy a tt off of Amazon for around 50. I would look around local thrift shops or even some record stores to see if you can find a nice used one for around the same amount.
Medium, I think. I paid like 45 dollars including shipping to order a copy from Canada.
Discogs has the UK pressing going for like 50 dollars but the US pressing is like half that so I guess it could go either way. Still a fantastic album tho
Embrace - S/T (first press/mint)
De La Soul - 3ft High and Rising (first press)
Raein/Daitro Split 10'' (pink flavored)
Standing 8 / This Robot Kills – Split 10''
Russian Circles - Enter (clear/black flavored)
Envy - Insomniac Doze Double Vinyl red & blue
I realize this may be a stupid question, but do most turntables have their own speakers or a headphone jack? It seems most should be plugged into amps which I don't really have
My actual "rarest" (#172/200) but probably not worth much.
I still need a few. Other than these my most valuable are Sonic Youth's Dirty and Kenny Burrell's Midnight Blue. All originals aside from the box set I suppose.
Rarest might be Trophy Scars - Goodnight Alchemy, or #20/200 Gatsbys American Dream - In the Land of Lost Monsters. No one actually wants those though so it doesn't mean much.
Not sure on most expensive, maybe Third Eye Blind S/T.
Ive never really looked stuff up to see if its increased in value
I like my Grouper records tho
Give me that
>Trophy Scars - Goodnight Alchemy
For a band I love so much I still haven;t listened to that.I think I've spent too much money to buy Holy Vacants if they have copies when I go to see them on Saturday. I should really listen to everything of theirs I havent heard before them.
I think it's just Bad Luck, Darts and Hospital Music aside from that. So actually quite a bit
I got pic related and it came in today.
It's mostly for the sake of having it because there's only like 5 copies for sale currently. Mine was like $43 but the next cheapest one is $50 and it only gets higher from there
I have an album of John Lennon cover songs by a punk band from St Petersburg Russia, with "Hello from Russia- Tolja" written on the cover by the singer. Probably not too many other copies out there.
It's pretty terrible though so I never listen to it.
If you haven't heard Hospital Music, Alchemy, or Darts you might be surprised because they are all pretty much post-hardcore unlike their blues influenced sound now, though Bad Luck is similar. I love it all, but Hospital is my favorite release of theirs. They put on a hell of a show too.
I have some shitty cassette from a band who is supposed to be really good now or some shit
I never bothered because the cassette was so shit. But there's only like 30 something copies so I kept it
My rarest is a really limited UTON record, but that's only so rare because there's very little demand. My most expensive record is Current 93 Dreamt by Andrew Liles
Well I own a copy of Alphabet. Alphabets. and it's my favourite of theirs so I wouldn't expect it to be too much of a surprise. Think this is /400 with the blue splatter being /100
I'll set some time aside to listen through tomorrow
Also own 78 pressing of Marquee Moon, an old pressing of Led Zep I, two original 73 pressings of DSOTM, and a 91 pressing of Jesus Lizard's Goat.
Oh I forgot about alphabets for some reason, yeah you'll feel right at home with the old stuff then. I have just the regular white pressing of that one. Just ordered Bad Luck the other day too. Only one I'm missing is Holy Vacants actually and the only reason I haven't picked it up yet is because when it first went up the shipping was ridiculous.
This is the thread where I reply to people telling them to give me things
I can hopefully scrounge enough cash together by saturday to buy a copy if they have any there. Unfortunately they ain't headlining, some band that the dood from Norma Jean and THe Chariot and whatever else is in.
Still, never thought I'd get to see them here in the UK let alone in my own home city.
Pretty sure it's more than that.
Speaking of, I have a lot, probably most of their stuff. The rarest and most expensive thing from them and in general I have is Two Sides of a Horse, one of their earliest releases. Between 3-5 copies. Shit was expensive, but it was worth it (the fact he threw in two bootlegs helped too).
It's an original, not sure if rare or expensive but it's pretty fuckin' cool.
Not sure about the rarest.
Possibly 'Hello, we are Midori. Nice to meet you.'
Most expensive is probably a boxed set, and barring those, either the aforementioned record or Kayo Dot's limited Hubardo lp set.
Some stuff I didn't realize was getting pretty pricey was the original pressing of ( ) and Terrifyer.
One of them, the longer one, is good. I'm not familiar with the other one, the rip came out with a bunch of clicks in it even though it sounds fine when I play the CD itself, so I don't listen to it often. But anyway, I don't know if I like it as much as I do because it's as good as I think or because I paid a lot for it and I was hyped for it and they're one of my favorite bands.
May not be rare in the rest of the world but I guess less than 5 people have this here in Brazil.
