How old is the average /mu/tant? I have been seeing an influx of kids talking down to older users. I actually saw someone say how being over 20 and still posting on here is pathetic.
anyone have the /mu/ age strawpoll results ?
25 here. I think its generally teens. The music nerds who never leave there computers until age 22 or so...after college. Im 25 and recently started coming here since I graudated recently and cant get fucked up every night as I did in college. So lonely nights by myself, it passes the time...I would say that for most ppl my age or older
I don't really think age is as important as time spent here
Like a 18 year old who's been browsing since he was 16 will be way less obnoxious than a 23 year old who's been browsing for 3 months
20. Going to be 21 next year. I don't browse /mu/ primarily, I was /v/ for so many years.
I come here and find a decent discussion every so often, like /tg/, or /co/.
Browsing since late-2007. Meh.
I can see being here as a teen since your parents dont let you go out late at night and such. However, ppl of college age, why are you out geting fucked up and fucking girls? Thats all I did in college. 25 here...come here simply because I have a job and cant get fucked up here everything.
Also inb4 someone complains, I am assuming if you are college age you're in college since most are. If you are of college age and have a job, then thats cool too
lol I was being fecitious. There are occasionally decent threads. However, the aforementioned is all i see anymore everytime I come here. Oh I also forgot the daily threads arguing whether kanye west or death grips are any good
yea I did but was curious on why no one had a response. The reason I cant get fucked up and fucked skanks anymore is because I have to get up early for work. Moreover, I am a pharmacist and peoples lives are in my hands so I refuse to go to work hungover or tired/out of it
Are there any other people that got the phenomena of having 4chan around for some of your most formative early years? like I started browsing in '05 is almost ten years ago meaning I was like 9-10 years old and aside from hiatus to do, y'know, life, 4chan has always been there.
I dont know your age, but once you get to a certain, hangover become an all day bedridden process..have even gone to two days. Cant be partying like I used to. Everyone with a real job here will attest to that
i dunno how to find like-minded friends even though i'm actually charismatic and likable so i just take drugs alone, play my instrument and post on 4chan when im not in class or at work
18 year old senior here. Not on here because parents don't let me out and what not, I simply don't have very many friends and have always been a social recluse. You know those feels threads about having no friends? I know my posts in them are genuine and I assume quite a bit more are.
well you can find a lot of ppl who do drugs, play instruments, and like music (though not necessarily the same type that you like). Honestly, I wish I wasnt so snobby in my younger days. Honestly, it doesnt necessarily matter if your friends have exactly the same like-minded interests per se. I have found it much better just to be friendly with everyone, not snobby, and opened minded, and to each their own attitude. Honestly, I have very few friends super into music like I am. The ones that do definitely arent into the same type, but we do share occasionally with each other. I have learned to like some of what they like and vice versa. You'll go nowhere with being snobby and thinking your opinion is the best
I'd imagine it's a cycle, tbh. I mean, /mu/'s more than 8 years old, it wouldn't make sense if it didn't unless there was a point when the average age significantly dropped and has only just begun becoming higher again.
I can somewhat associate with you. I have always been introverted and a bit recluse...partly because of my snobbiness in high school. I didnt want to associate with anyone who didnt like led zeppeling. If they liked led zeppeling, I didnt want to associate with anyone who didnt like robert johnson. I tell you the same thing as I said here >>51563938
But honestly if you're 18 and a senior, next year when you go to college your life will change drastically and definitely for the better. You will most become free of all those social cliques...hang in there for another 6 months or so
i am extremely friendly to everyone i meet and completely open-minded, i can make people laugh, girls think im cute and i like spending time with absolutely anybody who is nice. however, having no friends i never meet anybody i speak to longer than brief conversations in passing. im a junior in college and wasted my years in the dorm not getting to know anybody, now i just don't meet anyone at all
lets be frenz
Yeah, when I would frequently come here, the oldfags would bitch about how no one talks about metal and how everyone was a young hipster now. It went from radiohead and neutral milk hotel to kanye west and odd future one day; that's when I knew that I needed to get the fuck out of here
well if you truly have those qualities, just ask some dude who you think you can be friends with to go get a drink or better yet ask out a girl who finds you cute...even if you get turned down, so what...you are still in the same position you are now
I would like to think that the average age of /mu/ is increasing, though I might be hypocritical in saying that... Maybe it's related to the lack of tripfag BS we have to deal with now. Back when there were 10+ really popular trips (BTRL, CLT and their prodige) all threads seemed to revolve around them are their retarded bickering and attention whoring. /Mu/ also seems more organized now; there are jazz, electronic, kpop etc. generals, as well as fewer troll threads.
>mfw I started tripping on /mu/ right before clt left
>mfw i got him to notice me before he faded into obscurity
>mfw can will never be a good band
I just started coming here, but seems to me that that would be the logical conclusion. Older people didnt know how to use the internet as well 10 years ago. Now all those people that used to use it have grown up and some may still frequent here
well like i only know those things from high school and the very seldom party i would show up at where girls would talk to me. i dunno who i'd even ask now, i mean i talked to a really cute girl in an elevator today for a minute and she smiled at me and told me to have a good night. i guess i should've asked her out, oh well. don't worry about me man i'm not looking for advice really, i'll figure it out. i was just explaining that it's hard to get invited to parties and stuff if you don't already have a base of people you know who have friends, also i quit weed so pretty much everyone i could've potentially hung out with is a no-go.
21 started coming here at 17 this place is a shit hole I don't know why I always come back there's some cool stuff once in a while but for the most part its just post irony, shit posting and a bunch of memes
I've been on 4chan for 7 or 8 years, I don't remember.
Everything here is fast, uncensored and without stupid names or identities.
The userbase is mostly garbage but those rare good threads are worth it
yea I stopped smoking and therefore didnt hang out with as much ppl back in the day...however they werent my true friends anyways. The only thing I will warn you is that if you do find a girl, dont let her friends (dude or chick) become your best friends. If you ever break-up, that situation is a nightmare. I unfortunately made that mistake
>however they werent my true friends anyways
yeah this is how i feel. i might join a club or something to meet people, class alone isn't a good way to make friends for me. thanks for the advice man
yea thats definitely a good way to meet ppl. Thought clubs were super lame entering college, but its a good way to meet ppl of like minded interest honestly. I did a college radio show for two semesters, met some ppl, and had some fun
Y'know for as bad as people say 4chan is, with all the charts from the various media based forums, /fa/, /soc/, etc. I honestly think that if you know how to use it wisely, 4chan can be a great asset to cultivating an eclectic taste in most areas.
I think he's implying that he looks at the average behavior of a 4channer and uses that as an example of what not to do.
Basically, yeah, it does scream snobbyness, that's exactly why it teaches him how not to act irl.
>exactly, it's a great place for arts (seriously)
I'm not going to lie, while I think there are better places for each individual medium of art...I think 4chan is the best when it comes to cultivating one in the rough majority of them. If someone can think of a better site other than wikipedia, please name it, we all know we'd be on the better version of 4chan if we could be.
23 but I only come to /mu/ to post in the metal threads a few times a week. main board is /int/.
lolno. /sci/ is probably one of the youngest board. full of highschoolers (which reflects the horrible level of discourse).
oldest boards would probably be something like /trv/
