Cassette Tape GENERAL
post your collection, labels, etc. no hate just love here
Just bought the Exmilitary tape represses from Ormolycka, anyone else?
one time my school for some reason opened up like a thrift shop on campus using a janitor's garage thingy. there was just a bunch of shit clothes but i found a cassette of Morrisey's Vauxhall and I for 25 cents. it doesnt have the cover though so no reason to post it.
Just finished my first run of tapes! If anyone on this thread ordered one already I will be shipping out soon. Waiting to see if the pins I ordered with the record label logo will come in soon so I can include one of those with each order. :)
Anyone know where I can get the following?
>For Cameron - Merchant Ships
>Of the Thick - Mallard
>Sartre - Sartre
>Summer of George Demo - George Costanza
I'm actually not sure if any physical copies exist for the last two, but just checking anyways.
My newest tapes. Just glad I got to see/meet la femme when I got psycho tropical berlin.
Damn that'd be rad dude, but actually I think I'll hold on to your email instead just in case I forgot or it took a while or something I'd hate for you to hold out on selling one because of me :)
I'm hoping I can release soft times on cassette. Been talking to Matt about it and he is interested! It's a really grear album! Thanks for the support and hopefully the pins come soon so I can send the tape out. I dubbed them all today!
Well I was gonna argue on the "indie cool" but you're right in a way. For me it's a cheap way to buy physical music. I don't buy cd's because why do that when I can just pirate it and why buy vinyl when I can't afford a record player. Tapes are cheap, look cool and I have a decent way of playing them.
There's a certain feel to tapes I like. I have some black metal on cd, but it just feels right on a cassette (or vinyl), Same with grindcore, noise, power electronics etc.
Depravity label has pretty cool PE and that sort. Alot of my bm tapes are from Eternal warfare, some from Gilead media and Pesanta urfolk. Grind and punk related are usually straight from the bands.
i run a cassette label,
we do mostly >experimental, noise and garage rock
this is the only tape we have got in stock at the moment but its a good one
to give a rec: just picked up this tape from A Giant Fern that is damn good, and the j-card was beautiful
theyre a rad label from portugal
Stearate triple cassette boxset coming soon
I bought it, it's still in stock.
I'm sure http://snowfalltapes.tumblr.com/ has been discussed before, but there's a lot of good stuff here. I live an hour and a half a way, so next time I'm near there I'm gonna try and send this guy an email and smoke a blunt with him.
The white cover was the original release by ormolycka way back when, then DG released their own through thirdworlds with a black cover. I'm not sure if this new release will have a different catalogue number and be classed as a repress or whatever.
Heard some god things about snowfall tapes, never ordered anything though
Never bought from Ormolycka before, but the website seems like it's manually managed. Do you think it might be out of stock and not updated? I thought this would've sold out within a few hours
Yeah I was worried about the same thing. I tried to see remaining stok by adding 10000 tapes to my cart but it actually updated ti that number. Worst case I wait 45 days fIle a claim and get my money back. Best case I get a tape.
Here is what I have so far. I also have 3 in the mail (Sonic Youth, Meat Puppets, and Thurston Moore/John Moloney Caught on Tape) that should be arriving within the week or so.
What I have right now. Got 2 more in the mail. Gonna hit up a shop later this week to probably find some more :o)
I'm looking for one too and I found this one
Thrift stores are better, unless you live in some country that doesn't have them. Used electronic stores still need to make money and will only let something take up shelf space if they think it will sell for a profit. Thrift stores take whatever they are given and just sell it for whatever they can get; since they got it for free to begin with they always will profit.
Here are a few labels from North Carolina -where I am from- I've found that have cool stuff (especially if you are into garage rock/punk):
Also this one has some interesting experimental stuff:
Tru story. I had no money to my name yesterday but found this promotion for nba tickers so I bought some dirt cheap and resold them on stubhub. Gonna use all the new funds on bandcamp tapes
>For Cameron - Merchant Ships
i guess they dont have it on CYLS anymore. i remember they would always make a bunch
prob ask one of the members where you can get one
So the music on a cassette is actually a magnet that's put onto this thin, sharp, shiny black ribbon. That seems so crazy and neat to me. I've heard that when people would play them in the past, the ribbon could get tangled up, and you would have to carefully, like, unwrap it without tearing it and then gently spool it back onto the spinning part. Like, this was a common thing people just had to deal with every day when they used this kind of media. And you can easily cut yourself on the edges. So, your favorite tape would have some of your blood on its ribbon after awhile. It's kind of romantic to think about. I wish there was still music made like that for real, and not just novelty releases.

how old are you?
Bruh my tapes aren't novelty I listen to them every day.
Downloads available for free. Industrial noise project.
For everyone asking over and over, the reason the exmilitary tape aint sold out is because it is technically a pre order, those tapes havent been made yet. I think the cutoff date will be on monday then he sends the order in
Picked up an old Technics cassette deck at Goodwill to finally play my tapes. Just $10. How did I do? How is my set up?
dude i got a yahama deck for like $12, i wish i ran into an akai deck. I record all my junk on that cheap ass deck. So far so good but the quality of the recordings could improve a little. On the other hand, it gives the sound a unique warn sound, but it's not so good for the kinda sound I produce.
Cassettes of mostly ambient/droney stuff.
sounds interesting. first track on latest album i dig.
reckon you need some more diverse sounds and textures. the other tracks weren't too interesting unfortunately same goes with the other releases. a lot of it is a bit monotonous and boring i have to admit
I run snowfall tapes
We turn 1 next month
Thanks for all the love and support, /mu/
thinking about making the store 100% pay-what-you-want for a few days for our anniversary, with a max order of 3 tapes
but i'm not ready for the load of orders that would bring in ;_;
Hours later I remember to post rest of my collection.
where does this tape craze come from all of a sudden
I started posting these threads like a month ago and they took off so I still post them. Every day it gets up to like 100 replies. Just a bunch of people who share similar intrests and aren't dicks to each other
i got my technics deck for $10 at goodwill as well kek
oh yeah tape threads are my fuckin favorite
heres the tape of my band's demo that some local tape label did (and did a pretty poor job, the artwork is super pixelated and there's font differences from the tracklist to the titles, and the label name is bigger than the artist name but wtvr)
I have your Slush Country and Sludge Dredd tapes, and the only reason I don't also have NOTIR on tape is because I prefer the digital shuffled version. Are you planning on doing any other tape releases?
whoa, that's awesome! i've been thinking about doing tape releases of longhair through the village and peel sessions, but i'll need to get the resources together first.
thanks man, it's my favorite album of mine :3
ah dang so ur not actually rozwell kid
I just want to recommend this label, they are up in canada and made me want to make my own label
check out if you like psych rock/pop and get one of their tapes I have 5 and they are all awesome!!
Not my full collection, but most of the stuff worth listening to. Just got that euphoria again tape in the mail today. Its gorgeous
lets keep this thread going,
UMOR REX is a great label with real beautiful packaging. picked up The End of the World Championship's In Slow Motion recently and let me tell you, it is some quality drone
this is some guys from an art project making experimental stuff. I mailed them the other day and they seemed super nice and appreciative and all ;)
Only 3 I have + Exmilitary I just ordered. The Only Built 4 Cuban Linx tape is broke and I'll never stop being butt hurt over it.
My current collection, but I just bought Bitte Orca haven't had a chance for a pic.
Also MBV - Glider is coming in the mail.
Damn how much did your exmil set you back?
here's my collection so far, nothing too special
i really like going on ebay and browsing cassette lots. it's relaxing
Will update collection when LUM and Death grips come in
