I love death grips, but i haven't really felt sad or anything, maybe just a tiny bit because they won't be making music together anymore, but nothing more than that. they made their choice in life, they know what is right for them better than me.

I was rather surprised though.

A lot of people complain about DG fans placing equal importance on their antics as their music, which is fairly apparent, but it's part of their artistic identity for the duration they were together.

If music is a tool for liberation, then I think most would agree that they were at least onto something. They made music abrasive and impulsive and volatile and dangerous again, in a music industry dominated mostly by bell curve, mass market appeal. This extends to underground music too, guys. It's just about a record label appealing to a different demographic.

Just wanted to throw that out there. For what it's worth, DG will probably be the last thrill ride for me, as a music fan. I was sad, but quickly realized that it was a befitting end to what I consider a very important project.

I was really fucking sad, and then angry. I was just getting into him, really liking them, then all of a sudden they quit out of the blue and seemingly pretentiously. I was really fucking sad and angry for a while - I went through those 5 classic stages of psychology, just not in the traditional order, or all 5. I was planning on seeing them at fyf and then that fell through, then I got sad and then angry about never being able to see them live, and the fact that they ended it with disrespecting fans once more was what really threw me off.

I went back and forth between angry, sad and then acceptance, changing between them randomly. I even posted a thread on here asking why DG doesn't give a shit about their fans - no shows for the fuck of it, cancelling the final tour, etc. during my anger phase.

But now.... I'm pretty much cool with it now. Yeah it sucks dick that I'll never see them but at least I get to enjoy their music, and at least they existed albeit for a bit. And fuck it, they can quit for whatever reason they want, if they don't want to make music together anymore, it's probably a good idea in a way. But I still think it's pretty fucked how they've shat on their fans and don't seem to mind, but hey what the fuck are you gonna do?
