I came here to quietly vent the fact that I am shit at mixing music and that I feel like I'm getting worse and worse at playing instruments as well. Scrolling down to see if there's a duplicate thread or mixing tips or some shit, I see this thread.

Jet Set Radio (Future) easily has one of my favorite soundtracks, and Hideki Naganuma is one of my all time biggest inspirations. Thanks for making me feel better, OP.

you guys should try his Sonic Rush (and Rush Adventure) stuff. It is not as inspired as his JSR (which we can all agree was his peak), but still has a handful of interesting things thrown around and has a similar feeling

I'm a fan and somewhat friend of Naganuma's, so I'm pretty familiar with all of his stuff besides super obscure things that he did. Sonic Rush was absolutely fantastic, but I think some of my favorite things he's done have been under the name "Skankfunk", or alternatively from Ollie King. Have you HEARD those Jet Set Radio Future remixes from that game? They're amazing!

He releases under the name "Skankfunk", and has a YouTube channel with the name Mojahoihoi/FUNKY DEALER. Ollie King is the spiritual successor to Jet Set Radio Future. It's an arcade skateboarding game with music by him in it, including remixes of "Teknopathetic" and "Concept of Love"

In fact, here's some pretty solid proof that Mr.Naganuma and Skankfunk are one in the same. In addition, he composed for an anime called "Air Gear" which was highly inspired by Jet Set Radio, and there's even a quasi-remix of "Hummin' the Baseline" in the show titled something like "NOT hummin' but VIBIN'".

It's a shame he doesn't really work for SEGA anymore though. I'd have loved a new Sonic game with him involved. Apparently though if SEGA were to make a JSR3, they'd consider him for the soundtrack.
