I just discovered this genre and I'm trying to understand if I really like it or not.
Started with "Black Sands" from Bonobo and got his complete discography.
Suggestions for new songs/artists?

If you haven't given Tycho - Dive a listen then you are in for a treat.
I have been listening to Moderat a lot lately--not sure if they count as triphop but their two albums shuffle well with bonobo and tycho.
Moderat "Bad Kingdom" https://www.youtube.com/v/I1gewNVv1UY
Tycho "Dive" https://www.youtube.com/v/Z6ih1aKeETk

Bad Kingdom gives me chills every damn time. If the bass doesn't get you the imagery will. I can't tell if it makes me happy or terrified.

Emancipator, for sure.
Also Ratatat if you haven't heard them already.

Portishead
If you enjoy bonobo, listen to Andreya Triana's solo album. Also, Bonobo is more down-tempo than triphop.

Trip hop is pretty much downtempo from Bristol. Sure, they have hip hop elements but what doesn't? It's kinda like the difference between champagne and sparkling wine.
OP have you listened to Wax Taylor? If you're interested you should start with Tales of the Forgotten Melodies

>Bad kingdom
Fucking awesome man. When I was new to buying vinyl I bought an EP with two remixes of that song and they were great.

and that album art, btw, is this
The Bristol stuff like Massive Attack , Tricky and Portishead are essential.
Apparently this too is trip-hop.
I just hear dubby stuff but maybe you'll like it.

Essentials:
Massive Attack
Portishead
Tricky
Also have a listen to Boards of Canada. Not 100 % trip-hop (not even 50%, actually) but you may like them.

Try Nightmares On Wax. Either Carboot Soul or Smokers delight.

If I recall correctly, Bonobo produced a good amount of tracks on that album. Really nice.
Massive Attack's Mezzanine and Blue Lines are the absolute essentials

Seconding Emancipator.

Is there anything that sounds like Mezzanine? I love that album but cant seem to find anything that has the same sound and atmosphere.
