>music is subjective
how does it feel to be a fucking faggot?
Tolkein black metal, tolkein black metal is the most obscure musical genre.
I'm just kidding of course, the most obscure genre is probably something like stoner metal dreampop fusion or some experiment from some methed up NY kids.
>there is art music and there is popular music. those are the only two "genres" that truly exist.
>there are no genres
>tell that more than one genre exist (two genres)

By definition, there is no "most obscure" genre but I have a brief list of possible contenders:
Buttpunk, Neo-Wave, Clean Air, Non-Euclidean Soundscapes, Space Hymns, Off-Brand Pop, Smells
Just to name a few.
Buttpunk is basically bands that used to be punk but now have crossed-over with buttrock, i.e. stuff like Rise Against, The Offspring, basically any "punk" bands that get radio play on buttrock music stations
The rarity of something doesn't depend on who owns it. If Tom Cruise owned a 3 headed cat,it wouldn't make the cat any less obscure.
Besides, most of this thread is just gimmick bullshit. A band must actually have a modicum of credibility before you can label a new genre on it.
There's a million talentless cunts producing horseshit in their basements just to try and draw attention to the new "genre" they've created.
Sorry, but those don't count.
A lot of "academic" type stuff, actually. For instance, there's an album by a percussion ensemble called Kroumata where they do a piece called "Schlagmusik II." If you google it, you'll find almost nothing about it.
here it is with ITAOTS
Nope. They fucking don't count.
Just because you force 2 existing genres together doesn't make a new genre son.
There has to be some credibility there, some value. It has to gain a level of wider acceptance and have people endorse it, before you call say it's a new genre.
