So /mu/, I've been thinking about this for a LONG time. And I have finally decided how I want to try to make this work. I have always been very willing to help people find rare 'shares' & releases that people might need in a thread. Most of the time, this is only something people can ask for in a sharethread. Those are not always up. So I have an idea. I will create a tripcode that can be worn by multiple people around the board, so that if anyone needs something, they can just ask one of the tripfriends wearing the code.

Few things:

1.) This is NOT an attempt to gain attention on this board or anything of that sort. It's an Anonymous tripcode. It has a public password, so anyone can use it. I also have no pre-existing identities/tripcodes that I have ever used on this board before (or any for that matter).

2.) Doing this will allow people to always be aware of who can provide what. If someone if wearing the tripcode in a 'noise' thread, an Anon could just ask one of the tripfriends if they have the share that they want i.e 'Merzbow - Merzbox' (to avoid people making threads, asking for help from a tripfriend. Tripfriends in those threads of certain genre/type will most likely have it)

3.) I figure no one would filter the people using this code. NO ONE owns the code. It is just something that people can use if they don't mind helping out at the time. Say you were to get lazy? You can just remove the code. It's easy. The password originates from the website name.

>4cdomu
>[4]chan [c]han [d]ot [o]rg [m] [u] sic

4.) I have over 8 terabytes of lossless music [I know, I have no life ;-;) that I will be setting up to be shared within the next month. Already own a domain that can be used to create links for shares from that said server (will be an SFTP server).

This is actually NOT a bad idea. Can we change the name of it though? So new people can recognize that you're a FST (file share trip i suppose?)
>>
>>48627849
How does this trip look? Better? I just want it to look as low-key as possible. I dont want these trips sticking out in a thread too much
>>

forced anon now
>>
>>48627878
yeah, that looks a little better. But that looks like a clan tag or something. Also I said FST, not FSF.
>>
>>48627935
The only reason someone would get angry at someone wearing a tripcode is due to attention whoring or people trying to make a 'name' for themselves. This will be worn by a lot of people. No one will know who is who. The trip password is public. It's 4cdommu

People wont recognize you. Kind of like police officers (I know that sounds soooo cheesy). Say you're in a thread & you need some old encode. You COULD just post 'Does anyone have X'

OR you could respond directly to one of the Tripfriends & ask. They will always see your reply. People always check their comments for replies. But they DONT always check the whole thread's comments. It just helps people find help. so they aren't shitting up the board with request threads. Instead of posting a thread saying 'does anyone have X', you just replied to a tripfriend in a random thread & asked them. Im honestly trying to help clean the board up with this effort. Also while staying Anonymous with a public tripcode

I'm posting in 3 other threads without this tripcode right now. This code is for when you are feeling helpful. Your "attention whore' argument doesn't work in this case. There are numerous people using this code.

It's a pretty accurate one, based on evidence. The catalog is full of these terrible threads. But I know for a fact, that I can help people find what they need. Maybe I AM assuming. But it doesn't matter. Im the one who is nice enough to help people out with links & shares
>>
>>48627673
I like that you're trying to improve the board anon, but a general trip for shares is kind of pointless since you can find almost everything in the archive by typing "album mega/zippy".

Also, /mu/ doesn't like spoonfeeding people.

This is really good for when the archive doesn't have what you need. The only thing you can really find in the archive is /mu/core stuff. The people using this code most likely have large mega's & are able to scour the web & help other anons out with shares that they need. I find this fun. It's like a scavenger hunt. It also helps someone find GOOD music. You know? I just love to help people.

Hopefully there will be a lot of people like me, using this tripcode when they feel the same way.

Blixt- Blixt
Prog, 2011
"...it’s beautifully brutal and scintillatingly snarling, an arctic blast of synapse-cleaning, focused, furious racket with some capricious serenity here n’ there. The players: An American-raised Finnish guitarist; a jack-of- all-trades American bassist/producer, and a Swedish prog-rock/jazz fusion drummer so good Frank Zappa asked him to join him for a Swedish tour, respectively. Björkenheim has a fever- ish, bittersweet tone with some judicious sustain (evoking John McLaughlin and late-period Jimi Hendrix); Ågren rumbles and rages with subtle flair, and Laswell’s lithe, rubbery throb is the glue holding it together. Blixt is a zone where jazz erudition, punk/metal aggression, and intuitive free improvisation come together with the harmoniousness of a honey badger honeymoon." -Icon

The Pop Group- We Are Time
Post Punk, 1980
"Some artists churn out records for decades and leave behind little of significance. Others record little and leave a substantial legacy. The Pop Group belongs in that second category, releasing two studio albums and the odds-and-ends collection We Are Time during a three-year life span. When it becomes de rigueur to call an obscure band "seminal," it's worth reiterating why that band is important and reinvesting the cliché with some meaning. The Pop Group was among a handful of acts that harnessed the energy of punk, truly recognized the possibilities it opened up, and took music in exciting directions. The band used punk's back-to-basics ethos as a springboard for experimentation with funk, dub, and jazz, blending dance rhythms and rock in ways that continue to inspire artists..." -Allmusic

Henry Threadgill & Zooid- Tomorrow Sunny/The Revelry
Jazz, 2012
"...For the uninitiated, Zooid is named after "a cell capable of independent motion within a living organism." Threadgill has adapted this concept into a systematic series of rules to govern collective improvisation. Each musician is assigned a separate range of intervals, which facilitates melodic, harmonic and rhythmic independence from the core group, while contributing to the music's overall communal structure. The cumulative effect is a contrapuntal latticework of polyphonic harmonies, kaleidoscopic textures and modulating cross-rhythms..."

"The music of John Luther Adams is simply beautiful. It has a crystalline quality and a peaceful character that evoke the Arctic life, despite the cliché this assertion carries. Because of this beauty and the fact that Adams often includes electronic keyboards in his scores, he is often mistaken for a new age artist. This misconception is understandable, but nevertheless wrong. In these long, slow, engulfing pieces, Adams deploys more than a meditative state. The way he looks at stillness and the playing of light in his hometown of Fairbanks, Alaska, and how he translates his findings to music are informed by the works of composers like Steve Reich, Philip Glass, and Morton Feldman, among others..." -Allmusic

Marc Ribot- Party Intellectuals
Pop/Jazz, 2008
Marc Ribot gives new life to poppy jazz by forgetting everything and giving us a completely fresh take. This isn't a jazz musician taking watered down elements from different genres making them boring, this is a musician using pop dialect with jazz patterns and having fun with it.

Popol Vuh- Das Hohelied Salamos
New Age, 1975
"...deeply spiritual music from a synthesis of Eastern and Western popular, classical and devotional traditions. Fichelscher's guitar and percussion are to the fore, often eclipsing Fricke's rippling piano melodies, and Yun graces most tracks with her serene, ethereal voice." -Allmusic

No problem man.
Just don't spam requests, please.

You could try to get a what.cd account too. I've never needed one personally. Google torrentinvites, it might be useful.

Steve Lehman- Dialect Fluorescent
Jazz, 2012
"Decoding the music of saxophonist Steve Lehman has become a diversion for many a jazz listener (and critic). Sometimes composed with the help of programming software, his harmonies are meshed with mercurial rhythms. When played by his octet, his music gives the impression that it requires a scorecard to keep tabs on its perplexing complexities..." -allaboutjazz

Jazz, 2012
"Wadada Leo Smith spent nearly 35 years composing Ten Freedom Summers, his massive tribute to the Civil Rights Movement. These 19 compositions address the era's milestones between 1954 and 1964: they celebrate its places, heroes, and motivations, and they remember its martyrs. Oh no worries, I've been on /mu/ since [$$$SWAG ALLIANCE$$$], I was just curious about soulseek because I used to know somebody who swore by it.
>>
>>48630005
That's all the major albums. You can see the albums I uploaded for posterity (popular albums and compilations) in this thread-

>>
I really like this idea OP. Btw would anyone happen to have
> Sweet Trip - Velocity : Design : Comfort
>R + Seven
>>
>>48627673
I'm still not sure about how succesful this idea will turn to be, but I'm willing to support it.

Having said that, do you have by any chance, Numena, Geometry, Rainforest or Gaudi by Robert Rich in your library? I have already googled them, checked the archive, and still can't find them. I can't use any torrent software with my current connection, either.
>>
Maybe Im being obtuse but whats the purpose of the tripcode? If you ask for an album like people do all the time, everyone following the thread will see anyway, and anyone who has it and is willing to upload it will do so anyway. The only people who get bitched at for asking for things are the people who ask for stuff that everyone knows is ten seconds away in the archive. Im sure that will continue and that you dont want to spend your time fetching those links for people.
>>
>>48630804
You can search the archive and limit results to people with that tripcode
>>
>>48630955
The thing is, you can just search "abum mega".
Limiting results to just one tripcode makes no sense (take into account that most shares are made by fully anonymous users and some trips).

>>48630638
v:d:c is in the archive for sure.
>>
>>48631038
You either have to search the share sites one-by-one or search "http", which can include anything. Some album names are also very short.
>>
there should be a sticky about this from now on
>>
>>48630466
>>48630392
no one? ;_;
>>
>>48631126
I've never had problems looking for stuff.
"album mega|zippy" or "album title mega|zippy" always work.

>>48631258
Try soulseek anon.

>>48631248
Mods can't endorse piracy. That's why the sticky doesn't mention the archive or shares in general.
>>
Hey OP you wouldn't happen have Xela & Jefre Cantu- Ledesma's "Love is a dream", right?
