this was one of the few snd releases i hadn't managed to track down in decent quality so im stoked to finally hear this.
incredible that these tunes are atleast 16 yrs old.
the more i listen to this the more i think i'll end up actually buying the physical so long as stock allows for it..
Are there any /bleep/ approved nights in Southern California? I'm here for the summer
>>48123554
honestly SND reminds me a lot more of early Autechre than anything /bleep/
>>48123862
>>48123862
you'd be surprised at how techno this is. some of these tracks are verging on banger-status.
tracks 1 and 5 for example
http://bleep.com/release/52361-snd-tplay-special-extended-edition
>>48124020
I know, I've heard Tplay many times, which is why it always reminds me of stuff from Tri Repetae
>>48124039
oh, right
i dunno. its too minimal to remind of any ae. and with the crackle/hiss and sound palette it reminds me of early deepchord more than anything (dc10-15).
>>48124109
fair
I figured Actress probably seshed SND a lot back his West Brom youth

theres nothing wrong with discussing a label if the music is actually good, and literally the only mention of LIES in this thread has been about the randomer release, which is the first exciting release on the label in a while. what's your problem?

>>48127527
Listen to Jungle instead.
But if you insist on Breakcore:
The Teknoist - ...Like A Hurricane Made Of Zombies
Enduser - Run War
DJ Scud - Ambush!
Venetian Snares - Doll Doll Doll
Shitmat - Full English Breakfest
Cardopusher - Hippie Killer Don't Mind Jah Conversation
Bong-Ra - New Millenium Dreadz
FFF - 20.000 Hardcore Members Can't Be Wrong
May have included too much Raggacore on here but whatever.

it's ironic that people who use the term 'lad house' are probably the same posters who like cheesy 2step which would have been listened to by the equivalent of 'lads' and plebs in the 2000s.

>>48129533

is it the rhythm of the beat, or the drum samples. i got them from a korg m1 i wanted them to sound kinda corporate and "cheap"

>>48129687
i havent
y not m8
>>48129628
exactly
it's just the best
>>48129672
the rhythm
it's straddling aggressive and serene and i just don't feel it
the samples i'm not keen on but you can tell that was deliberate cause the synths are similar
>>48129449
the bass sounds kinda flat? like especially in the first part it's like a solid synth, doesn't have any bounce or pulse
i tend to like the higher melody more than the mid range one since the mid one is a bit repetitive and bland and i don't like how it ends on the same note it starts with
try to vary the percussion a bit, maybe some ethnic-sourced claps, shakes and stuff? from 3 mins onwards it could use some of that like on the 4th beat a jam city style clap. maybe
>>48129628
cross-territory between 5panel lads/techno-neets.
>>48129750
thanks man i appreciate it
>>48129766
thanks man, appreciate the feedback. do you mean vary the drum sounds or the rhythms?
>>48129388
Thanks !
>>48129839
drum sounds. what i noticed was most of the percussion was either low frequency or really muted. like the clicks or hi hats or whatever they are after 3 mins are really quiet and toned down. the echoing drum sounds around the middle section were the best imo since they stood out from the mix
its just my opinion. i'm not really a producer
>>48129887
thanks again. yeah the drums are mostly all low end. i wanted the melody's to be the driving force, the thing that would get people moving as opposed to percussion. i wanted the clicks to be just little layers on top of the melody, because they are tuned the same.

I enjoy & respect Tensnake's House Expertise. Please don't make fun of him. He's living he's passion and playing alongside djs such as Jackmaster while you pussies anonymously make fun of him and his lack of eyebrows. He's jacked as fuck and would destroy anyone in a fight in spite of his small stature.
Hey guys, it's Ricardo Villalobos. What's up?

Why do they call it outsider house when they're mostly all competent producers?
>>48135548
because shut in
>>48135561
Most of them aren't even shut ins. The hole genre is a sham.
>>48135548
>The term was created to pull together a new breed of US producers who embrace lo-fi techniques rather than the polished cleanliness of the deep house and EDM brigades.
>Hessle Audio's Ben UFO first playfully coined the term "outsider house" during a Rinse FM show, in reference to the outsider art phenomenon that champions untrained, "naive" artists from beyond the art world. Before long, it was being applied to any American producers whose tracks sounded like they'd been recorded backwards on a reel-to-reel recorder using sandpaper instead of tape.

bit mean tbh he's a DJ just starting up and he's managed to get on the same bill as some pretty respected DJs and producers. give him credit where credit's due, he's probably more involved with the scene than most people in these threads

>>48135973
well getting on the same bill as someone like that isn't hard. tonnes of local dj's have ended up on bills with semi-famous dj's/producers.
i doubt tensnake is that good if he consantly feels the need to post his average as fuck dj achievements/experience on a fucking anonymous imageboard lol.

>>48141513
you know what i don't even think it's that amazing. i much prefer the dub mix because that 3-note melody gets annoying after a while.
>>48141572
To be fair I probably agree with you. But really the original is such a classic that it seems kinda pointless to try to remix it, it's already untouchable.

Can't pay the musician? That's kind of lame. It's not as if he won't have paid the sound engineer who pressed the vinyl, or the printers who printed the sleeve, or the shop he bought the materials from, or the courier/post office to send stuff out, or soundcloud for that pro account etc. etc.
The person who put in the time and effort to write 30+ mins of music and for whom Opal Tapes owes it's existence ends up being the one who doesn't get paid? Crazy.
Not to be a dick (and Opal Tapes is my favourite label, I'd say) but I spent £14 on the Patricia release not too long ago and having been involved in releasing vinyl I know that each one would've cost no more than £3 to make (covering everything... materials, mastering, shipping etc.).
£14 for a vinyl straight from the source is a ridiculous price.
But whatever, it's a lot of work putting a release out and it must be annoying to see it on nodata within minutes but so what, the people that are willing to buy it are going to buy it anyway... and it's not as if all Opal Tapes' physical releases aren't sold out anyway. He's sold pretty much every copy of every release he's put out. If he wants more money then he should make more than 100 cassettes per release or get a job as a stock broker or something.
