Anyone else Underworld fans? Dubnobasswithmyheadman was ahead of its time. Karl Hyde is like the James Joyce of electronic music.
I still think Second Toughest In The Infants stands as the superior work. Finally got to see them last years and it was 99.9% perfect. Only a lil sad they didn't play Dark Train.

>Only a lil sad they didn't play Dark Train.
I always preferred the original Dark and Long to Dark Train
>>73957620
Something about the vocals in the background always got me. The entire thing feels like an ecstasy haze whereas the original imo feels more put together which isn't a bad thing. They inspire me all the time.
you guys know any good songs for a guitar drum only band?
>>73957464
what the fuck do you have against bass.

So guys, I'm autistic and don't like vocals.
Could you guys suggest me instrumental songs/bands with an "hypnotic" feel, like KC discipline or some old tangerine dream tracks. Anything would be appreciated though

Thanks, good stuff.
And yeah, I'm fine with those kind of vocals lyrics
Not really what you're asking for at all, but I'm curious about what you think of Kitaro's stuff.
30 years' worth of celestial ascensions.
>yfw you realize the Pixies blatantly ripped off The Gun Club

But what does Christgau think about it?
"It's a mug's game to deny the technical facility claimed by one-upping crits and young victims of testosterone poisoning--not only does Axl cruise where other "hard rock" singers strive, but he has a knack for believability, which in this genre is the most technical matter of all. When he melds scream and croon on the big-beat ballad, you understand why some confused young thing in an uplift bra is sure it's love sweet love. But Axl is a sucker for dark romantic abstractions--he doesn't love Night Train, he loves alcoholism. And once that sweet child o' his proves her devotion by sucking his cock for the portacam, the evil slut is ready for 'See me hit you you fall down.' B-"

Christgau also gave Ok Computer a B-

besides turning 26 these legitimately sound like lyrics off the last few Sun Kil Moon albums
so Sun Kil Moon
Do you feel it yet? The rapid decline between 26-29 is gonna be fun.
well this is the final nail in the fucking coffin if there was one
and funnily enough, it's the first time pitchfork's been right about a 10 since MBDTF.
is p4k, dare i say it, uncucked?
>>73957149
Scaruffi gave it an 8/10, which is basically a 10/10, it's bolded on rym, Rolling Stone gives it a 5 out of 5...why do you hate this album?

Calling a piece of music boring is a lazy, inarticulate, and mostly uneducated way to provide criticism.
Your analysis of it is boring.
i'm not sure how i feel about this album. there's nothing about it i find to be especially genius, it's not incredibly groundbreaking, yet there's something incredibly intriguing about it that makes me come back and listen to it over and over for years. discuss
i cried listening to some things last a long time when it came up on shuffle the other day. that's really all i've got to say.
>>73956898
even though the music was incredibly simple alot of fans are really interested into the story behind daniel as well. Which is a big factor that pulls people into his music. mainly to feel sympathy or feel like they relate or something.
The music itsself is just some mush but important mush. It would help influence many lofi artists we know today
Don't let yourself be one of those people that fetishize the mental illnesses of artists like Daniel. It's pathetic.
That said Songs of Pain and Don't Be Scared are legit great.
You literally cannot dispute this
>>73956799
first half is dull, then a woman being obnoxious until money plays, which is a good track -- us and them is good too and the rest of the album is whatever
good, but super overrated phenomenal for 1973
I didn't know that Bankrupt! had an alternate album art. I think the original fits better.
Can't tell if it's boring or just horribly overplayed. Either way it's very overrated.
80's music history lesson.
This is called the Fairlight CMI, Stevie Wonder bought the first one back in 1980. It is an 8-track sampling workstation. Sample instruments, sequence the samples melodically, you're in business.
So many songs were made with one of these it became somewhat of an in-joke in the industry whether the instruments were real or if they were just a Fairlight.
A lot of hit songs were made with the Fairlight CMI.
Examples:
Tears For Fears - Shout
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZEWwZNUafKo
Peter Gabriel - Shock The Monkey
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CnVf1ZoCJSo
Pet Shop Boys - Love Comes Quickly
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QHaA1beOwrY
(The Pet Shop Boys once said on David Letterman that life for them was basically a Fairlight and mailbox full of money)
Arcadia - Election Day
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4W5aKwrsYIM
Art Of Noise - Close To The (Edit)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-sFK0-lcjGU
One of the most famous Fairlight sounds was the "ARR1" or "SRARR" sound:
https://youtu.be/OWOaN_azH1s?t=43s
It is a sample of the Fairlight creator's daughter or something. But once you hear it you will recognize it from a lot of songs.
The fairlight used vintage DACs and analog filters to achieve its sound. It cannot be simply recreated in software form. It had a unique lo-fi sound quality.
One last song. OMD - Garden City.

Hope you enjoyed this. Good night.
/ourgirl/ kate with the CMI
>>73956828
Good point, the Fairlight CMI gave the ability to someone like Kate Bush to write entire albums by herself, which she did. Very important in a male-dominated music industry.
Another tidbit: The Fairlight was famous for its "orchestra hit" sounds:

i wish i could go back in time and write albums on one of these
