I heard it on some mixtape made in early 2000s IIRC (could be late '90s), among other alt rock/nu-metal tracks. Alas that's the only thing I remember.
The genre: alt-rock/grunge with a touch of shoegaze. I remember apathetic vocals. The overall mood was much like Alice in Chains or Soundgarden's Black Hole Sun, but with somewhat noisier guitar.
