Emerald decides on a shorter haircut. The same one he had before he drank the potion to make his hair grow. As for the clothing, he picks the white tunic with red trim and belt, along with some tight fitting light gray pants.

"Well, now that we got that out of the way." Joyride says as Emerald finishes up paying, "Let's head back. I got a bee I need to talk too."

Emerald wonders what he should do next. If he wanted to visit somewhere else for the day now would be a good time to do that. Pretty much anywhere he'd want to visit is is a short detour from the roads to #304 Coursewalk. Of course, if he makes it back he may be able to get Joyride to show him how to make bullets.

Emerald says he wants to visit Olam.

"Alrighty. Just send a message over if you are going to stay the night." Joyride says with a grin and a knowing wink.

The group walks together back towards #304 Coursewalk, Emerald splits off from them near Olam's laboratory, and approaches the door. He knocks, and the Zebra secretary let's him in, and asks the colt to sit at the table. She goes to tell Olam that he is here, and a few minutes pass and Olam appears from the staircase.

"Good evening." Olam says as Emerald greets him, "I must admit that I thought you'd be away longer. Did you get all your homework done already? Have you been practicing?"

Emerald apologizes, and says that he started it but that he didn't finish it.

"Hmm... Well, I don't have much time for teaching today, but why don't I set you up on a task." Olam says.

He quickly sets him up with a lab and writes some instructions on a blackboard. Olam says that it's a powerful alchemical acid used as an ingredient in other concoctions, and that it's a cornerstone for some very useful potions. He then sits nearby with some papers just in case something happens.

Some steps in, Emerald has to stop and wait for the acid to reduce down. The colt glances over to Olam, and sees he is still working on his paperwork.

Emerald asks if he could have some eye protection since he is dealign with volatile chemicals.

Olam raises an eyebrow and says, "I guess, but you know I've never used eye protection, and I turned out just fine."

Emerald has to admit that maybe Olam isn't being entirely truthful considering what his peeper look like, and quickly puts the safety googles on.

Emerald asks how he first met Joyride.

"Around the time I came to this city." Olam says, "She was actually waiting for me. Much like you, she wanted some information on alchemy, particularly the types of Alchemy I was famous for."

Emerald asks what that alchemy is. Olam doesn't seem to respond, so instead he asks what sort of paperwork he is doing.

"Correspondence to Whiterwater Castle. I do have many felons under my roof after all." He says, not looking up from his work.

Emerald asks with a shock if he has written anything about him.

"No. You don't want to get caught, I understand that. However, you aren't doing yourself any favors by making yourself look more like your wanted poster." Olam says, looking pointedly at the colt.

Emerald says that he really enjoyed the last time he was here, and maybe they could do some more in the future.

"I must admit to being tempted, however at the moment I am a bit busy. In fact, I have another meeting I must attend soon." Olam says exasperated, "Perhaps next time you visit. I'm assuming you don't attend to stay?"

Emerald shakes his head, and at that moment there is a knock at the lab door. Olam says to come in, and the secretary says it's time for his meeting.

Olam stands and motions for the colt to follow and says, "I apologize, but I must leave. I'll send over a bit more homework for you, and try to get it all finished by the next time you visit. Thank you for the alchemical acid by the way. It will be put to good use."

Emerald asks if he can have some of it.

"Yes. Perhaps you can get some use out of it."

He asks the secretary to decant some of the acid for Emerald and then escort him out. Much to Emerald's surprise the secretary quite skillfully fills a bottle with the transparent yellow liquid.

Emerald finds himself out near dusk.

As Emerald walks back to Joyride's he wonders if he should stop by Hope's apartment. He does have a key after all, and he might get to see the nice maid. In fact, she might know some more about where Hope is.

As he makes plans to walk that way though he starts to feel a bit paranoid. Maybe it's just Olam's comment or maybe it's the time of day and he isn't walking around with a giraffe that draws everyone's attention, but he feels like there are more eyes on him than before. He also starts to notice how many wanted posters of him are up. Were there always this many?

His heart starts to beat hard in his chest, and he finds himself walking faster an faster back to #304 Coursewalk. He nervously opens the door to his flat and flops onto the bed.

"Jeez, what's up your butt." Ruby says. Emerald hadn't even noticed that she was there along with Pip, playing cards, "Get in on this. Maybe she'll cheat less."

"I'm not cheating!" Pip says offended.

"You have a card behind your ear!" Ruby says pointing at an ace of spades resting in the demon's mane.

Emerald apologizes, and says that he has to visit Joyride. Maybe she can get him some hair dye or something.

He steps outside as silently as possible, and then gives a few knocks on the door and asks for Joyride.

She appears about a minute or so later and says, "What's up lil' perv. Whoa, worked up quite a sweat with Olam, didn't ya?"

Emerald wipes his forehead, he was indeed sweating. He says that nothing happened, and then asks if she has any hair dye or anything.

"Nah, but it's pretty easy potion to make. You could probably do it yourself. If you need some ingredients I can sell them to ya at cost." She says with a grin.

Emerald sighs in relief, and then asks if maybe they can learn how to make some shells.

"Nah, gotta deal with lil' miss brat in here. You know for a bee she sure is antsy." Joyride says rolling her eyes with a sigh.

Emerald asks if she can speak with Bee Joyride.

"Sure why not, maybe you can talk some sense into her." Joyride says, holding the door open for the colt.

They walk down the long hallway to the massive pit where the bee resides. They climb down the ladder and enter the small building with the tub.

As they enter Joyride says, "Hey, you got a visitor."

The bee pops her head angrily up from the tub, and then stands straight and throws her multiple arms up and says, "Emerald! Hey!"

This causes some of the royal jelly to fly into the air, and Joyride grabs it magically midflight and says, "Hey! Careful with that, you know how hard it is to get?"

The bee ignores this and says, "Did you come to tell me some stories about the outside?"

Joyride sighs and Emerald tells her what he's been up too, obviously leaving some parts out.

"Wow... I want to see..." The wasp says sighing wistfully.

"Yeah, but you can't if you like living." Joyride says to the wasp, who sticks her tongue out at the unicorn.

Emerald thought she was happy down here. He wonders what could have changed since then.

Emerald notices that she has gotten a lot bigger since he last visited. She still isn't as big as the other Jungle Wasps he saw, but she is taller than him now. He isn't sure he should say anything about it though, but then asks why she wants to leave all of a sudden.

There is likely a reason we didn't see wasps just hanging around in the zebra city. Her kind are probably viewed as dangerous and a pest.

Emerald asks if the bath is really that important to her health.

"Yeah, and she knows that. The royal jelly is necessary to sustain her rapid growth. If she spends any significant time out of that pool it might actually kill her." Joyride says, rather bluntly.

Emerald says that she is being a bit unsympathetic, and that the wasp just wants to go outside.

"She knew what she was getting into. I didn't lie to her, and I told her everything. Why don't you think she's tried to leave herself?" Joyride says throwing up her hooves in an annoyed mock defense, "In the hives most don't even get a chance to peek out into the outside world."

Emerald says that she has indeed never lied to the wasp, pointing up at the grinning Joyride moon above them.

"I never lied about anything important." Joyride corrects herself, "I told her she was going to be a queen in her hive, that she was probably going to be mostly immobile her entire life having babies all day. I just dressed it up a bit better by saying how great a place this is to have her hive."

Joyride swings her hoof slowly around at the hole they were standing in, "I mean, she and her brood will never go hungry, or get attacked by angry zebras or another hive. In return all I ask is for some royal jelly so I might make my special potion."

Emerald taps his hoof on the ground annoyed, and then asks if the wasp can even read.

"No? Why would she need to?" Joyride's face then turns to a sudden grin and she says, "Oh hey, maybe that wouldn't be such a bad idea... I could have her do my taxes too."

Emerald decides on a platinum blonde-ish color, and the Joyride points sort of out into the gardens on the edges of the hole. Emerald walks over and begins to ferret around the bushes of multi-colored berries there, finally some Marrionberry-like white berries that match the color he wants.

When he returns, Emerald finds both Joyride's bickering a bit, and decides to get in between them ask the wasp if she has anything she wants to talk about.

"Hmm... Yeah, something private though." The wasp says, looking to Joyride.

Joyride rolls her eyes and walks away. When she begins to pick at the berry bushes near the ladder upwards the wasp says,

"Hey... Is there... Any magical way to transform into a pony? Joyride says there is but she won't about it..."

It's a messenger, and he gives him a package saying it's from Olam's address.

Emerald decides to use the rest of the night to finish up his homework. The colt gets so absorbed into the work that he loses track of time, and nearly passes out at the desk he was working at.

After finishing he yawns loudly. He snuffs the light spell he was using to see his work and heads off to bed.

Emerald quickly grabs some cereal, and while he eats he takes his amulet out from under his shirt. He speaks to it, and unsure of what to say, just asks if it'll show him anything, and also asks if what the other demon said about Tartarus is true.

He doesn't respond, and so Emerald gets up and heads for the library. He asks very carefully for a book that allows a Giant Jungle Wasp to transform into a pony.

Nothing comes up, and so Emerald asks for a book for transforming other species into ponies.

Several books speed towards Emerald, and after he ducks under a table to avoid the barrage he picks up a few of the books.

Most of the books involve turning things close to ponies into ponies, such as zebra and the like. He does however, find a potion that might work.

Emerald checks how long the potion lasts, and it says about three hours per dose.

That seems like long enough for him, but to be through he looks for other kinds of spells that might help. He starts with looking for illusion spells that might make her appear pony. The only problem with those is that it doesn't actually change her physically, meaning she'll be stuck in the royal jelly pool. It's a bit above his level anyway, but he decides to write it down in his spellbook.

Emerald has Ruby sit next to him and has her teach back some things to him. After a few minutes he nods his head, Ruby seems competent to at least get Waspride started on reading.

"Alrighty, I'm going to go hang out with Borba again. Gotta get the time in while I can, ya know!" Ruby says, springing to her hooves.

Emerald teases her a bit, and says that she really seems to like her, and asks when they shall be wedded.

"C'mon, it's not like that." Ruby says, blushing angrily, "It's sorta like... You know, Hope. Or Barber. They are just so cool you know?"

Emerald watches Ruby leave as he ponders this. He then realizes that he never really had a chance to be with Borba in a more erotic manner, and wonders if maybe he can work something in by tomorrow.

As Emerald gets up he suddenly remembers the page from the orb room when he went the first time. He pulls it out, and after clearing his throat asks the room if he could have the book where it is from.

A book barrels down from behind some rows and smacks the top of a table that Emerald dove beneath. The book is rather plain, and looks to be some sort of journal. When the colt opens the book he is annoyed to find most of the pages have been ripped out.

The only ones left are near the beginning, and describe what he saw in the first orb, namely her cutie mark story. The end of this entry says,

"I thought I wouldn't find anything in this memory, but I had to try. It's kind of funny. Even though I know this is from my memory I remember very little of it. Normally a cutie mark story is something dear and personal to ponies isn't it? I guess I just don't care."

Emerald decides to stop snooping for now, but does admit he feels a little sorry for Joyride. What was she looking for?

Emerald walks outside and decides to practice some magic. It's been a while since he's done it.

He casts spells at a box, freezing it and pusing it around, as well as casting shields aroudn it and looking at it through Arcane Sight. He wanted to try and glamour it, but the spell doesn't appear to work on the box.

He takes a break, and looks around. Borba isn't in the backyard, and neither is Ruby. He also hasn't seen Joyride at all yet today.

Emerald wipes his brow and promises to himself to at least practice a bit with magic everyday so that he can improve. He's surprised how much magic he is able to cast now compared to when he began.

He sighs, and then begins to worry about Hope. It has been a while since he's gotten to speak with her. He reaches down to his amulet again, and asks if he can see anything with Hope.

As he is speaking this however there is a crash from around the front of the house. He starts to walk towards the front of the house only to be met by the mare in a side walkway.

"Lil' Perv!" Joyride says loudly.

Emerald notices that his mentor appears rather disheveled. She has a bottle with an odd dragon shaped neck on it. She seems to be having trouble focusing on him, and when she breathes the colt can occasionally see small gouts of flame.

"Lil' Perv!" She repeats herself, balancing on the side of the building, "The deer delegation is going to be here sooner than I thought. We gotta-"

Joyride takes this opportunity to belch very loudly and pat her stomach.

Emerald asks what she's been drinking, and attempts to steer her towards the house for some water, but she nudges him off and says,

"It's fine, c'mon let's go!"

She then grabs Emerald by a hoof and looks upwards. There is a bright flash of light, and then the colt finds him hanging by his grip by Joyride atop the roof of the building.

"Let's see... It's overrr..." Joyride says, squinting into the distance. Emerald then says that maybe she should stay here and Ruby and himself go look.

"...There!"

Another flash of light, and Emerald finds himself atop another roof, this time, luckily, large enough to hold them both.

"Alright, let's go look." Joyride says, laying down on the ground, still clutching the alcohol.

Emerald starts nudging her and telling her to get up.

"It's fine, don't worry. You go on ahead, I'll catch up." Joyride responds.

Emerald says that he doesn't even know where he is now, or what is really going on.

Joyride however, is already sound asleep.

Emerald is going to be sure to have a chat with Joyride later, but for now he decides to head down the staircase to see where he is.

The steps lead to a well furnished hallway. There are sconces on the wall with lit candles, and between each sconce is an expensive looking case. The floor is covered in a red carpet, and the walls are a nice egg-shell white. There are doors numbered in nice shiny gold colored letters, and the door opens from one of these.

A donkey wearing a pristine maid costume steps out pushing a cart full of cleaning supplies. She close the door behind her, goes to the next room, and enters it using a keyring she hangs on her cart.

Other than that the hallway is empty.

All I read so far about the deer was that the white deer were supposed to be especially fertile, but it doesn't say anything about fertility being an issue with the rest of them. But... that could be a good explanation for them revering them as much as they do then.

Emerald ponders taking the keys from the maid, perhaps under the effect of an invisibility potion. However the deer aren't even here yet right? Best not raise any alarms yet. He could go and speak with the maid he supposes as well.

Emerald steps back from the staircase a bit and casts his arcane sight spell. He can only see around the top two or three floors, but there doesn't seem to be many people here other than the maid and what appears to be some guests lounging in their room.
