Something occurs to me (it occurred to me several months ago but I forgot to type it anywhere and forgot about it for a while)

It was kind of silly that in Darkest Hour we never got taught the special rank structures of the other regiments during basic training. There are only 20 of them and only a handful would have had anything special yet we had to go seeking that information out. I wonder if Warlock wanted to make a side goal out of getting that information, sort of like (probably) Big Mare Hero and not getting the names and powers of the other mares (which is in fact what made me think of and later remember this) only much less of an unfun pain in the ass (although it would likely still have been somewhat annoying)
