It takes time to make a good template. If you just took the image and altered colour palette, you'd get something like upper half of pic related. You can use algorithms to add dithering - grainy patterns to simulate lost colours. We need a really skilled spriter to get a decent Twi or PP.

For me it was a natural thing. I like cute characters and found it very visually interesting. The writing is done intelligently, so it was both witty and low-brow, without being obnoxious in either way.
The music was a nice change from the norm and has always been memorable.

Really it's just a nice show that's fun to unwind to and watch. And there's a big ol' community out there, so I have a place to enjoy it alongside others.

Yeah, you definitely can't use non deterministic dithering. I put this together from several variants of the picture. I'd say it's somewhat acceptable, although the eyes stand out a lot... they're recolor of the original eyes, but noticeably darker; if you're bothered by it, maybe reworking them a bit and spreading the lighter parts would help.

I got a Twilight for anyone interested. I think the mane turned out pretty good, despite everything; the palette blue just is way too vibrant to use here.

This is actually magnificent. Luna looks like dog shit up close but she looks absolutely fantastic if you zoom out, and with our limited palette it might be the best we can do.

It would be awesome if one of the anons who's skilled at pixel art could fix up the clusterfuck that is Celestia's chest, though. The peytral seems to be split in two for some reason, or there's a mirage image of it to the side, and also while the swirly background looks nice in other places the random pixels of blue right there are very jarring.
If this get fixed I'm all for building it!
