Comic #51 came out on iTunes, Kindle, and other digital comic mediums earlier today, but since images were down on 4chan I couldn't post it here till now when I had some time.
So here it is for those of you who missed when it was first posted off-site.

How would you rate Comic #51 out of 10 /mlp/?
The 2017 Annual featuring the Guardians of Harmony should come out next week if the schedule holds:
My Little Pony Annual 2017—SPOTLIGHT
Ted Anderson (w) • Andy Price (a, mc, sc) • Sara Richard (ric)
>Join the Guardians of Harmony on their quest to protect Equestria from nefarious villains! Featuring six short stories focusing on action and adventure by your favorite MLP creative teams!
>>29540896
Damn AJ, you almost broke the censors.

Name something post reflection.
That arc literally kill all the future comic porn, the mirror celestia and luna porn literally stop after the last number of that arc. We don't have any porn or harmonized mirror celestia or luna.

10/10. Shadowlock isreally, REALLY fucking hot
>>29540963

>>29540937
For reasons listed in the other threat, it's not bad, but also not THAT great.
It's shaping up to be better than ANY 2-3 comic long arc in the mainline since before Reflections however so that's a decent sign. It's higher than a 6/10 but probably no higher than an 8/10
The pacing was pretty slow, while I enjoy the better balance of spotlight given to the Mane 6 the humorous parts probably could have been cut and allowed for more of the core story to be told, which might be a good idea given the common flaw of almost any arc in this comic is hasty as fuck resolution. There's also a lot of questionable decision making (why did Twilight not teleport after Shadowlock, or crystal zap him? Why did she wait till morning to give chase? Why did Shadowlock choose steal the books in the first place when Twilight's a former librarian who probably would have loved to loan them out to an alias of his?) but, ignoring the occasional contrivance, it was written well and IC for each mane character and sets up the conflict alright.
Shadowlock himself is kinda interesting: he's definitely edgy but he's just barely above American Box-art Kirby atm. I won't say I'm intrigued by whatever his motivations are, but I do find him a refreshing villain in that he relies on rogue tactics and his design is imposing without being try-hard with power levels. His most interesting aspect for me is his power-set but I am not really ready to call him a good villain until we get the whole picture.

Next month we should get Friends Forever #38 featuring Celestia and Luna and concluding the Friends Forever series to make way for the new Legends of Magic series.
My Little Pony: Friends Forever #38
>Andy Price (w, a, sc) • Tony Fleecs (mc) • Sara Richard (ric)
>A minor squabble between Princesses Celestia and Luna turns major and the two decide they need some time apart. When they divide Canterlot castle between the two of them, will the leaders of Equestria find a way to live harmoniously again?
>>29540992
Next month we should also get Comic #52 continuing this new 3 part arc:
My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic #52
>James Asmus (w) • Tony Fleecs (a & mc) • Heather Breckel (c) • Sara Richard (sc) • Valentina Pinto (ric)
>Twilight and friends dive into the secret history of Equestria to find out the origin of the new villain, Shadowlock!
>>29540994
The next chapter book we should be getting will be the long delayed Trixie book which is scheduled to come out March 7th as of right now:
Trixie and the Razzle Dazzle Ruse
>G.M. Berrow (Author)
>"A new My Little Pony chapter book featuring your favorite unicorn pony and traveling magician, Trixie! An original story."
>>29541001
And lastly we got the solicitations for April's comics, so here is the one for Comic #54:
My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic #54
>Rob Anderson (w) • Jay Fosgitt (a & c)
>When Fluttershy is summoned away, it’s up to Angel bunny to keep the animal sanctuary running. Will his bossy management style backfire when the other animals refuse to cooperate?
>>29541007
And Legends of Magic #2:
My Little Pony: Legends of Magic #2
>Jeremy Whitley (w) • Brenda Hickey (a & c)
>The legendary Rockhoof is the strongest pony in the realm! But is he strong enough to stop the mighty magma creatures that live inside a volcano?
>>29540977
great, a comic about soni- i mean rainbow dash being fast
>>29540991
>It's shaping up to be better than ANY 2-3 comic long arc in the mainline since before Reflections however so that's a decent sign
This is the first comic where we get the villain and the plan of the villain in the first issue. That why.
This would be the first issue in MLP without a rushed ending

>ch
Nothing personal kid
Not sure if it's anything new, but this little bit on Shadowlock here in an interview that was posted a short while ago is relevant I think:
>TIQ: What can you tell us about this mysterious new pony? The covers certainly make the pony out to be quite the epic character.
>JA: I tried to make this new pony an intriguing, formidable, and ultimately a rounded, understandable villain. We get more chances to understand the character as the arc goes on. I will say the character is more of a 'a mare on a mission' than a would-be Equestria conqueror. So while magic certain does open the door to some epic possibilities, this arc is more of a pursuit story. (With lots of swerves and settings and surprises!)

Find it strange that Twilight did very little to stop the intruder in her home. Not even a bubble spell to try and catch him.
>>29541723
Maybe she was just in shock from surprise, someone being in her home stealing all those books, and ruining her meticulous organization to do anything?
Of course Illustrious Shill has a copy of the GoH comic but only shows random shit.
>>29540916
What are Lyra and Bonbon doing there? I mean, there's no other Ponyville ponies there.
>>29540937
As shitty as ever. Now with maximum edge. Shadowlock seems to have been created by a 14 yo brat weeb.
>>29542063
Obligatory BG ponies for fan pander, even when it makes no sense
>>29540937
9/10. Its pretty good. I enjoy Shadowlock, he's not edgy, just taciturn, and the plot seems tight so far. No random shit like the villain team up from the siege comic or whatnot.
The plot kind of plods for the first 6 pages (WTF was that cutaway dream gag with pinkie even FOR?), but tightens up once they reach the town in a big way. We get an explanation of why the villain is a danger, get some great jokes that work well and feel in character for each character (plus the side ponies like cauldron bubbles are enjoyable), and then get a confrontation.
9/10. Its not perfect, but its pretty good and a DAMNED improvement over some of the shit we've been getting lately (WTF at the last arc. just WTF. the worst trainwreck I've ever seen that destroys characterizations and logic just to set things up so Starlight can save the world)
>>29542853
You're never getting a job as a writer, Q. Quit sucking IDW's cock
>>29542985
Just because I enjoy 1 comic plotline doesn't make me Q. A previous plotline being bad doesn't invalidate the current one: the Accord arc was utter shit, and the Trixie/Rarity ones were bad, but that doesn't mean the new writer can't do a good one.
>>29542853
Christ, at least try to change your shilling style to TRY passing as a normalfag.

>>29542994
>but that doesn't mean the new writer can't do a good one.
Literally 2/3 of this comic were nothing but padding and Shadowlock's plan is intentionally retarded so this comic could have a chance to work.
First issue is literally an introduction to the introduction that will happen on the next issue.
>>29542994
No, the past series of constant IDW shit leaking from them should tell you more than enough about any comic. Name one good main plot since after Reflections. You can't.

>>29543016
Fiendship is magic was good, And I also found siege of the crystal empire to be good, apart from its overly sacharine ending.
>>29543080
Well not him. Like I already said, I hate several IDW plotlines, and think Fosgitt needs to get fired ASAP. (WHY THE FUCK IS HE DRAWING THE GOH COMICS?!)
I am actually pretty damned critical of the comic, I just enjoy it when its good instead of stewing in hate.
>>29543116
> I just enjoy eating shit instead of voicing my dissaproval.
>>29543116
Sombra and Tirek's fiendships were decent. NMM and the Siren's were hilariously bad. Chrysalis' was in between.
Siege of the Crystal Empire was absolutely fucking terrible from the 2nd issue onwards.Umbrum designs aside, there is nothing redeemable about it.
>>29543116
>Well not him
Just going to take a guess because you seem familiar: Are you Glim Glam from EqD?
>>29543131
The first issue of siege was a 6.5. The Forced villain team up is terrible here, and pissed me off because I WANTED a villain team up comic, but one where its the actual plot.
The second was 8, as was the third. The background information about the umbrum and the empire was nice and chrysalis was very enjoyable.
The third dropped down to a 7; the fight was utterly weak, when we've had some real GOOD fights in the comics before, this silly shit was annoying, and the ending should have ended with sombra's heroic sacrifice and hope accepting responsibility for her actions and responsibility for partly contributing to sombra's death, rather than getting rewarded.
Overall it was a decent story, and worth a read. Not GREAT, but still an enjoyable romp. The lost potential is the only truly bad part about it IMO.
>>29543131
>Sombra and Tirek's fiendships were decent. NMM and the Siren's were hilariously bad. Chrysalis' was in between.
I think that rather chryalis's was good while Tirek's was the in between one. His was neither good nor bad as it felt like it ended half way through. There was no proper ending.
I agree 100% about NMM and the sirens, but the fact that those 2 were bad does nothing to detract from Both Sombra and chryssy's one's being good.
>>29543162
No, and never refer to me in a way referencing that pinkish-purple abomination please. Starlight is the poochie of FIM.
>>29543201
>the 2nd and 3rd issues were an 8
>the 4th a seventh
You mention one of my biggest grievances with that comic arc as a whole (Hope facing zero consequences for outright betraying and nearly dooming Equestria, Sombra to an even more offensive degree given he enslaved an entire race) but I cannot even give any of the issues past first more than a 5. Hope is genuinely one of the most despicable equine beings in the comic canon between her arrogance, idiocy, self-righteousness, lies, utter disregard for pony life save her abusive not-coltfriend's, and general inconsistency as a character (outright attacks princesses, acts all haughty with surprise when Cadance asks to see the fucking umbrum like she should have offered to show them in the first place, doesn't seem to regret involving fucking changelings to her plans whatsoever as though that shouldn't be a huge red flag that you're the baddies, somehow believes everything would have been fine afterwards if the Umbrum did turn out to be good after leading a fucking invasion and capturing public officials God I hate this fucking cunt so much)
>>29543238
I hate how they can't even be assed to show any Crystal Ponies past the first issue, even to protect their own fucking city or grant Hope any kind of foil to see who she might be hurting. I hate how they essentially rob every mane character of any agency to their own story and how for all the billions of characters they juggle the only one that matters is the OC (no pony's action matters in the end save hers and Sombra's. Twilight's only meaningful contribution was as a plot device to injure Hope and anger Sombra, and Cadance served as a character-less plot device because she didn't convince Hope with words: she lucked out with shining a little love magic and boom, Hope's entire 1000 year indoctrination seems to end in a snap as she immediately switches sides). I hate how the villains' previous Friends Forevers are pretty much rendered moot by willingness to buy into Hope's plots (with no particular reason as to why she focuses on the Mane 6's antagonists, it never explains her holding a grudge), I hate the ending you mention as well wherein all tension of Sombra's choice is thrown out the fucking window by the princesses' sudden ability to turn him not-Umbrum somehow. I hate how a pony who did literally nothing right and everything wrong from before the start of the arc to nearly its end is rewarded in a story that had as little to do with the Mane 6 and most of the Mane cast as Accord's arc.
God forgive me for defending Starlight, at least Starlight is fucking interesting compared to Radiant Hope. The FIENDship for Sombra was good by the measure of their being some inherit tragedy in Hope's very name: Hope alone DOESN'T solve everything. And that was all fucking ruined because of this shit-stain of an arc. It wasn't enjoyable, it's not worth a read, and at the risk of sounding even more incredibly autistic than I already do I think less of anyone's taste that enjoys it.
>>29543258
Oh and I hate how even after having their characters/loyalty driven into the dirt to team up with fucking Chrysalis and SOMBRA of all ponies, the 'villains' that were appropriated for this arc are left out to dry by this end. No sense of redemption or an attempt to fix the mess they caused, which while I could buy for Flim/Flam I find it incredibly surprising Iron Will wouldn't have vested interest in saving his country where his famiily lives.
tl;dr fuck Siege, fuck Whitley, and fuck Hope fuck Hope fuck Hope. I pray Sombra's dick tears her in half off-screen.
>>29540849

>>29544092
>>29543063

>>29540937
3.5/10. Started out okay but completely lost me when the guy just ran away with no fuss and Twilight isn't even that freaked out about it. Where are my modern Equestrian laser beams? Doesn't Equestria have law enforcement? Everything else is uninteresting.
