I'd rather focus on alchemy and magic but I do have a solution. Just make a magic gun. One that uses small amounts of mana rather than bullets.

You'd probably never have to worry about recoil, a magic beam is probably more silent then a shot from a gun and you'd be able to change it anyway you want with a simple enchantment or maybe even using it as a focus. Perhaps crystals would be a good method seeing how there used in the war for canons we'd just need a smaller one to fit in the device.

You know, this suggestion might not be very adventurous, but I've been thinking that if we ever get any downtime to see if we can make that hair-growing potion for Ruby.
