It's not that I think that it would be any good, but frankly even the cringeworthy moments would be better than being here.

Literally the only thing I'm doing is going out to dinners with them, taking my mother shooting for the first time (okay, that was probably the one thing that I feel like had tangible benefits, she REALLY needs to get used to it), and otherwise just sitting at the table with my computer while they're sitting in the living room watching TV. It's been like this for like 4 days, since I got home, and will be until I fly back to my place on Tuesday.

It's not that I don't like my parents, it's that I don't like forced interactions with them. I'm not really the "AWWW IT'S SO NICE TO JUST BE AROUND YOU, YA KNOW?" type of guy. So spending a week here is fucking torture.

And the really shitty thing? Fuck, man, I probably would be doing the SAME thing back home! The only difference being, I blew like 400 bucks on roundtrip tickets out here.

The point is that, autismal to the max as it might have been, going to the meetup (preferably with copious amounts of alcohol before, during, and afterwards) would have been infinitely preferable to the boring hell I've been in.
