We still have no fucking idea what Starswirl was doing with that spell before Twilight changed it (or what it even does in its current state), and the fact that Twilight herself never even hinted at wanting to become one (seeming to be more interested in just being proficient in magic in general) but just rolled with it because >muh destiny really didn't sit well with me

Also the fact that anyone can be an Alicorn if Celestia "says so". It just seems so ridiculous that you simply ascend into another creature that embodies all three races and suddenly become royalty.
