garu never has a human disguise and is always moving like an animal and acting doglike.

shou and garu feature more prominently than the mentor figures on gekiranger.

i like kyuranger better than zyuohger because i don't give a shit about furries and kyuranger has been both been funnier and has more of a plot than zyuohger.

That's pretty much how I saw Zyuohger. It's not that I dislike it, it just didn't put any effort into anything, especially for an anniversary season (it would've been perfect for them to at least acknowledge all the other animal-themed sentai seasons. When did they do that? By having a GOKAIGER reference a few of them instead).

You can maybe count "every animal power" on your hands, though; the series didn't have a lot of "powers"/upgrades. And that whole "half the cast is animals" is bullshit when they just put on human costumes and have tails. It's like saying "the ToQgers are kids!" when the team were played by adults all the way through. The whole zyuman aspect could've been cool and toyed with like the original trailers suggested. If Mario had learned early on about Zyumans it would have made the show way, way better and allow for more scenes/interactions to be interesting. As it was, it was more "foreigner-themed" than "animal-themed".

And Childhood Imagination was tied into their powers and upgrades far more than animals were tied into Zyuohgers power and upgrades. Kind of a tangent since the entire point was to point out why kyuranger gets more furry complaints than zyuohger despite theme. But yeah, I think ToQger committed a lot more to its theme and got a lot more out of it than Zyuohger did.

One thing I've realized is that Kyuranger is actually the closest to a Millitary team in a serious plot that we've gotten to in a long time.

The characters are all goofballs but Jark Matter still owns the universe and Shou is still the commander. It's colorful but they don't make this a party.

Ever since Go-Busters, they've been really going for fun and parties and festivals being a power source and tied into everything. Kyoryuger had the samba dancing, ToQger had IMAGINATION, Ninninger had all the festival imagery, Zyuohger had all the circus imagery.
