Muteki works because it was introduced so close to the end, so there's no filler episodes needed to make it less than it was when introduced. Any other show wouldn't have the same, and would have to either go forever with boring fights the main can't lose, or somehow remove the ability and make it lame. More than half of Ex-aid has been revolving around Chronicle in some way. Many episodes in the build-up to making the game actually happen, couple episodes to the game going live, the rest to Masamune using it to transform, and then the rest to finally end the game as intended.
Just brushing past it for a couple episodes with some other not-as-important threat would have been a waste.
