If he wants to do that, he will need to fight DHX media and the canadian government. Considering that this is SSSS Gridman, in otherwords Superhuman Samurai Syber Squad Gridman. That means they plan for the series to directly homage it's american counterpart. It's obvious that they will want to bring it over and dub it and they have more then enough power to kick Saban's ass to the curb. This feels like a rebirth of the 90s. I'm literally shaking.

Not sure how I feel about this. I wasn't a big fan of Kill la Kill as a good chunk of the animation felt fairly cheap and looked like a French-Canadian cartoon made in flash.

Have they improved at all?
>>
>>15661076
Yes, it is. If I had to bet, I would say that Trigger is aiming for international appeal with this one. They might contact DHX since they still have the rights for SSSS. I still can't believe this is even a thing. I feel like a kid in the 90s again, turning on my TV to watch kids blast monsters in cyber space. I wanted toys from that show so bad, but I couldn't find them.

They've learned to work to their strengths more. I really didn't enjoy KLK (I completely agree with you about the animation, and I also had issues with the way they handled pacing for an action show), but from my perspective they've been improving. The end of Luluco was pretty solid, for example, even though most of the show looked like flash.

In episode 18 of LWA they throw in a giant robot briefly, which may have been a test run for this idea. Here's the end of that fight - I guess it's about what we should expect from a full show. I don't find the animation particularly beautiful, but it's serviceable and the camera doesn't shake.
>>
>>15660994
THIS
In all honesty I'm torn, while Gurren Lagann is a good show, there's really not much they can do with a sequel. Say what you will about the ending, but they ended it on a note that'd be very hard to follow up on. Granted, that's why I see so many people who want a PREQUEL to Gurren Lagann rather than a sequel. Still, I'm greatly looking forward to both Promare AND Gridman.

The only thing I liked from trigger was inferno cop, and even they fucked that up with ninja slayer by trying to drag it out when IC worked by being rapid fire and quick paced.

The studios reminds me why you don't just let a load of creatives do their own thing with little question, they try to go too many directions with their work and it ends up a mess. Kinda like Kojima with MGS5

This will probably be very stylish with lots of webms made, get loads of hype and then the story and themes go no where but people try to piece something together anyway.

In your opinion. Some people have opinions different from yours, sometimes even for legitimate reasons.
>>
>>15662082
>>15661475

Couldn't it be a simple combination of their works being hyped, and not very good.

Let's take KLK. Fun meme show. Super hyped. It was everywhere. It also was trigger's first big show, and you could tell. The animation was wonky, it had bad use of cgi, plus Nakashima's weakest writing full of checkov's guns not fired, weak character development, pacing issues. Inferno cop is a youtube gag series, so I won't look too harshly on it, but again super hyped meme show. Ninja Slayer was a another gag show, not as hyped, and nobody remembers Turning Girls.

While not as bad as Panty and Stocking, Space Patrol Luluco was still pretty bad. I can't judge Kiznaiver since I've never seen it. And Little Witch Academia was a decent show. But again, super hyped.

So you have gag series, a bad series, two decent series, some shorts, and contract work. And nearly all of hyped as the best shit ever. So yeah, there is some push back, and it's more than just
>/m/ hates thing.
or
>/m/ is contarian
as for why it happens on /m/, well it's a combination to the hype, and people spamming /m/ with KLK for a while would be my guess.

That said, this is no longer 2007 so expect people to try to turn Promare threads in Valvrave/G-Reco/IBO shitshows for meme purposes regardless of the quality of the show.
>>
>>15662228
>While not as bad as Panty and Stocking, Space Patrol Luluco was still pretty bad
Your opinions do not matter.
>>
>>15660660

Anyways, on Promare, I'll wait for trailers. Nakashima is a solid writer, but his weaknesses have been showing as of late. Imaishi is a love him or hate him director, and I haven't cared for most of his stuff. TTGL was good, though the second half being an insult to super robot show themes after the first half was a love letter was a bit jarring. Panty and Stocking was juvenile sex gags throughout and I hated it. KLK was alright I guess. Luluco was another one I didn't care for. And Sex and Violence was another short I just didn't care for. We will see if they can get magic in the bottle again, or if the formula is getting old.

As for Gridman, if it's like the short, except in TV form, it'll be amazing. If it's inferno cop, with Gridman characters, after that great short, there will be riots. Again I'll wait for a trailer, but I'm going to give both shows 3 ep rule regardless.

Also there is DARLING in the FRANKXX which is said to be Science Fiction, but we don't much about it.

I like Trigger for an absurd reason, but it's honestly been working out for me.

I use Trigger to discover the people who don't watch anything, don't read anything, don't absorb any form of media beyond whatever gets forced upon them by their peers.

That's right, /m/-chan.

I use Trigger to find the anime normies.

The type of people who point at a scene and go, "woooooooow, this animation is SHIT" while missing out on the more important elements of scene composition.

The type of people who go, "UM, REHASH MUCH???" and can't tell the difference between a parody, tribute, or homage.

And most importantly, the type of people who claim to be all about the sakuga but praise the same animator's work in a robot anime while shitting on his work in a show by Trigger (specifically when the latter has the better scene.)

So go ahead, my darling /m/, and reveal the inner depths of your soul and tell me how you feel about Trigger.

I'll show you that you're not better than those Naruto-headband wearing convention-attending punks.

You god damned Anime NORMAS.

Imaishi and Nakashim had their moments, but their time have clearly passed. This will be another one of those overly hyped series that's going to disappoint. Maybe they haven't gotten worse, but rather the industry has gotten better. There are plenty of more interestimg shows I'd rather watch over anything Trigger.

The latest anime hits had nothing to do with Gainax or even Trigger. OPM, SNK, Sword Art etc. KLK barely made a mark with the normies.

I can name six or seven mecha shows from 2007 off the top of my head.

How many mecha shows from 2016 can you name?
>>
>>15669818
That depends on our tastes because good is kinda subjective.
>>
>>15669818
I like how recent somehow became 2016 specifically as the goal posts were shrunk together in an attempt to narrow the range of the argument so that it became seemingly indefensible.

1/10 attempt at nitpicking. Start over from scratch and put some effort in this time.
>>
>>15660660

All of them, even though what you're talking about has nothing to so with anything, especially since only one or maybe two of the things you can name are even decent.
>>
>>15669823
Hence I didn't go for
>name good mecha
anime and just went with
>name mech anime

I'm not arguing quality. Like you said, that's entirely subjective. I'm saying the quantity has gone down. We are literally getting less mecha shows in recent years.

How many mecha anime from 2016 can you name?

>>15669835
I used 2016 because it was last year. 2017 isn't over with, this isn't a good example. How many mecha anime were there last year. Total?

>>15669922
>All of them.
And how many of them were there?

Why is everyone assuming I'm demanding a list of good anime, when I asked for just mecha shows? Again. I don't want to argue about quality. The statement I'm taking issue with here is
>no less than before.

In 2007 I remember Heroic Age, Gurren Lagann, Kotetsushin jeeg, Gigantic Formula, Giant Robo, Dancouga Nova, Gundam 00.

Maybe that's an unfair comparison, since 2007 was a busy year. Let's take 2006 instead. I remember people complaining that was a slow year.

I remember Code Geass, Eureka Seven, Aquarion Genesis, Soukou no Strain, Innocent Venus.

How many mecha shows can you remember from 2016?

Maybe I'm remembering wrong, or just didn't keep up with mecha that year, but I'm struggling to think of three shows that are flat out mecha.
