Musou would probably be the best, but it would be a mess. Make some system where you can choose a team to go out and fight and you can rotate between characters of that team mid-battle and they also fight alongside you. The mech fights would be the only tough part to incorporate. Just don't give me another Ranger Cross please for heaven's sake.

Ok, I will leave out the Edgy Stuff.
Cards used to transform and each has a mech associated.
Red Emperor, Pink Empress, Blue Magician, Yellow High Priestess, Black Hierophant.
The 6th uses the Fool, but there is no mech for that card, instead he uses Chariot

Sun, Moon and Star are Auxillary Mechs assigned to Red, Pink and Yellow.

The World is used to activate the Ultimate Mech that combines everything.

Temperance is used for the Team Mentor to transform but it is only used "in the summer movie" and the last few episodes.

Most of the rest of the cards are used by the villains and that is where the edge starts coming in.

The Bad Guy use The Wheel of Fortune to pull monster from random places in time and space including alternate realities, they usually call the device "Diablos Ex Machina" and the fact it is one of the Arcana is a surprise to the team.
The badguys also have an evil Sentai.
Evil red uses Devil, Evil Black Death, Evil Blue Hanged Man, Evil Yellow AND Pink use Lovers.
Here is by far the edgiest part. Evil Pink and Yellow are actually Pink and Yellow from the main team brought back in time from after the team has been defeated

That leaves Strength, Justice, Judgement and Tower, which I can't remember what I decided...

Judgement is the Evil Team's Final Cannon
Strength is a Super mode
Tower is a home base, either the good guys or the bad guys I dunno.

My idea is about a bunch of Oni hunting rangers. Oni come through demon portals and rape and kill the people. Red is actually half Oni after his mother was raped by an Oni years ago something the viewers will know about, but not the other characters. Later its revealed that the big bad is Red's father. The other rangers are all just people who hate the Oni and they are unaware Red is half Oni as he masks his true form. So they team up to kill Oni.

Red can transform into his powerful demon oni form and have crazy attacks. His main weapon is an Oni club that transforms into a dark red glowing aura demonic oni club when he goes into his Demon Oni form.

Blue is a samurai wielding a katana, like most blues he is quiet and overconfident in his abilities, but still very strong slicing down Oni with a single slash before sheathing his sword and watching them explode into a pile of gore.

Green is a mystic who practices sage arts and healing, but also has monk like fighting abilities. His primary weapon is a staff

White is a Tengu gifted with the power of flight. She wields a spear that can pierce even the greatest of metals and has slain many evil Oni. Her people were all massacred by the Oni years ago leaving her as one of the last Tengu alive.

Yellow is a foreigner who worships the Sun and uses Sun based abilities. She also falls in love with Red and when she gets pregnant she finds out that the child has Oni DNA.

Frontier Sentai Horizon V.

The story of a motley crew of characters living on the Western Frontier and how them and their town became ensnared in a battle to keep the world from falling into darkness.

Unit has team themed dusters and the transformation device is a gauntlet with a stylized deputy star. Standard weapons are a locomotive themed hand cannon and military style sabres. Suits are cavalry and animal themed.

Red Hunter (Cougar): Wandering bounty hunter who stumbled upon the town looking to turn in a mark and resupply. Easygoing but has a sharp mind to him. Started his journey to escape his formerly Confederate family's economic collapse.

Blue Sheriff (Horned Owl): Resident lawman of Verdant Spring who tries to come off as older and wiser than he actually is at times but his sharpshooting with any firearm is the real deal. Caring if stern man.

Green Scout (Jackrabbit): Mixed-race teenager born of a widow whose first husband died on the trail and the native she came to love. Carries quite the chip on his shoulder and is prone to hotheaded outbursts. Also serves as the town's mail carrier as his speed on foot and endurance was outpacing their horse.

Black Forge (Boar): Most recent daughter in a family of Japanese workers brought over to work on the ever expanding railroads but set out upon their own path, settling down in the town and using their metalworking skills to open a Smith. Quiet and a bit reserved but it belies a fantastic strength of both heart and body.

Yellow Rancher (Cow): German sharecropper who came to settle in the town and runs the local saloon as well as a sizeable farm. Has a passion for his agricultural ways and always tries be someone people around him can rely on even to a fault.

Mentor figure is a young eagle themed Sky God who was left in charge of the region after a climactic battle between the Earth God and the God of Dreams and the Night ended with both of them mortally wounded and now healing. Bit of a goof but dependable and hides in plain sight as the town drunk when not in his true form. Also has a thing for the hooch.

Sunset Shaman: Originally the town's historian/envoy to the natives, she first aids the group by classifying/researching/somewhat rectifying the various curses/plans used by the villains. On an expedition, she's caught in a cave in only to stumble upon the hidden sanctuary of the recovering Earth God who then makes her his avatar so that both of them can join the fight. An earnest if somewhat ditzy woman who believes hard work can overcome any obstacle.

Mecha: No individual mecha. The team return their power to the Sky God which allows him to regain his ancestral massive form which then transforms into a Jet Garuda style humanoid. Earth God gets the same but only requiring Sunset. The two get a combined form later on.

Best starting spot for a guy who's currently fed up with Kyuranger and who watched power rangers up to Dino Thunder as a kid

I had a vague idea once for Shishinger. Ranger team based on the Chinese/Japanese holy beasts. Initial team of four, red/blue/white/black. Suzakuranger, Seiryuranger, Byakkoranger, Genburanger. Joined later on by the gold Huanglongranger or something, with a more distinct Chinese motif. Mystic team. Enemies would have the motif of Buddhist devas.

Super Sentai noob. I just watched all of Zyuranger. At least one episode a day. The last arc was really solid but holy hell was most of the show a slog to go through.

Good stuff:

>Boi's backflips
>Everything Mei
>Goushi being the smartest and wisest Zyuranger who cares about everyone
>Everything around Burai and his death. Sent chills to my spine even as an adult. Can't wonder how a kid would deal with that when it aired.

The best description I can give of Zyuohger is "a good status quo". No risks were taken, but it also made no mistakes. It felt like a watered-down Shinkenger that should have taken the whole zyuman thing and run with it being more interesting.

I liked it, but I skipped the first 8 episodes. There are a lot of loose plot threads later on that irritated me, but if you're just watching it for dumb entertainment and not something deep and meaningful, it's alright. Might be biased as I love traditional Japanese themes as well as bright and fun shows though.
