The more I look at the mecha, the more forgiving I become. I still have my fingers crossed Q4 is full of aux voyagers. They're the best part of Kyuranger and now at q3 we get nothing extra. A set with Cerberus would have even been accepted.

I've noticed lately in sentai that Toei tends to reuse a lot of monster costumes compared to older series where almost every episode had a new monster to fight. Are they not making as much money as they used to? Is that why they are cutting back on making monster costumes? Zyuohger reused a ton of monsters they already defeated through Bangeleys powers. And Kyuranger has been reusing this guy a lot as new characters based on this costume, just changing things slightly like the face mask and there names.

This so much, I loved those guys. It would be a great way to reuse monster suits without having to come up with ways to revive previously defeated monsters. Guess I just miss the old days where almost every episode had a new villain to fight. I just really like toku monster designs a lot. Seeing so many costumes get recycled just feels cheap to me. I know Toei probably has its reasons to do this.

Kyuranger's case is likely a mix of budgetary and to give their battles a sense of accomplishment since they have so many villains they need to beat. Gotta beat those 88 Menastars eventually after all. Many will likely be reused Mook suits like the Malistrates.

I really don't see it. This has been happening since Kyoryuger, and I don't see any quality improvement on these last few suits compared to the ones from previous years. Do you really think, say, the Gedoushu somehow were lower budget than current monsters?

Shinkenger had quite a few two episode arcs though. And a few general focused episodes without unique monsters at all too. They didn't reuse suits, but they still found a way to skirt around things. There were only around 35 or so unique Ayakashi.

The big difference between now and then is that seasons like Kyoryuger and Zyuohger both just found ways to reuse it's monsters instead of stretching the suit budget out. My memory is foggy but I think they're the only seasons really bad for it too. I believe Toqger stretched the scripts out to fit the monster suit budget pretty well. I can't remember shit about Ninninger's monsters honestly.

I honestly think both seasons are better for it too. Kyoryuger did really fun things when it brought monsters back, and while Zyuohger's reuse of the monsters was bland the Bunglay hand stuff was good. I loved seeing Kuvar learn more about how to use it, or some of the general things Bunglay himself did with it. Made things a bit more worth it.

Ninninger brought back specific suits several times as different monsters - Nekomata was the most infamous one, since it was brought back as supposedly different monsters every time even though the suit wasn't changed at all - and they even use that for a joke in its last return. In other cases, they at least swapped the face though, like how the monster from episode 31 is just a headswap of the one from episode 28.

Toqger, looking at it now also had several suits using the same body, but swapping weapons and head, even so it only hits 35 monsters of the week. In this case it was played straight though, like how the "Keepers" were all chess themed and shared a base body. So, it seemed more natural than random monsters that happen to look alike like in Ninninger.

He's right. Yamato gets ever power up, the actual plot centers around him despite the fact that he should have no stake in it, he has two unique weapons and the same side weapon as everyone else has to share, and even when the other four are getting focused on by the plot it always comes back to Yamato.

"We're 2 feet away from the cube but Yamato's in trouble let's go save him instead of doing both!" "Here's an episode about the 4 fighting this ultimate evil from their home, but let's make the big focus Yamato's dad and give them the B-plot."

Even Misao's entire gimmick revolves around Yamato at the end of the day. Sure everyone gets filler episodes but at the end of the day they might as well not even matter to the actual plot.

I like the guy, and Zyuohger, but he's just as much a scene stealer as ever red ever. They're all like this. I'm not sure why /ssg/ thinks there was a time when it wasn't Red's show.

Red has always been the obnoxious scene stealer that the others have to bow out to. Even when he's not the leader (Tsuruhime, Kouichiro, Yuri, Ran) The ones like Lucky and Daigo just draw more attention to it because they're bombastic in personality and thus it's more noticeable.

Also what? While your first statement is definitely true and one of the flaws of that episode, Yamato's daddy problems didn't take up the screentime of the episode. In fact it was separated more into tidbits spread into different episodes, so you thought it had a bigger focus when actually it didn't take up much of the screentime per episode.

Mei's actress has one and is fluent in English. Interacts with fans quite a bit. She might have said something.

The Dragon furry's suit actor is great. I'm unsure if it's the same person in the fursuit and the ranger suit, but the way they move is identical. Very graceful movements while still keeping a stiff, straight back. The fight scene was nothing special, but I was impressed by that bit of acting.

Emu is really fucking average for a rider MC. Even Haruto has a better personality and is funnier. Nico is useless but cute. Poppy is cute. Parad does the same stupid looking smiling face and graphite does the same stupid smirk face while saying baiyo. Genm was literally the only good character and his acting is the only one that stands out, even the japs realize this.

Seems like characters from Power Rangers Dino Force Brave will appear in Cho Super Hero Taisen.

That's pretty much the only cameo of Blue Brave in the movie, since only three battles in the tournament are shown. The screen does show a close up of the portrait while scrolling through the tournament brackets though.

The new Dogold gets some more screentime, but doesn't speak or anything.

It's an Ex-Aid movie focused on a child of the week and Hiiro, with Amu and Naga hanging around as supporting characters.

All the crossover stuff and cameos (even Lazer's) is just set dressing, and although the early action scenes are good the final battles are the standard Kaneda crap.

It doesn't become a mess or pulls a big fake out like other Yonemura movies, and the only actual hero vs hero, rather than hero vs game world copies, is Kyuranger vs Ex-Aid Riders in the beginning of the movie, but if you actually go into it wanting to see what was advertised (Heroes tournament, Lazer's return, final form heroes, GoRiders, even Ex-Aid's tournament team), you'll be disappointed.

One of the big things is the tournament. Even though it was the focus of the advertisement, there are basically only two matches fully shown and one incomplete one (Ex-Aid team vs Dai-Ranger and Ex-Aid Team vs Genm are shown completely, while Blue Rider Team vs Red Sentai Team cuts after the beginning). Also, although there are scenes between those matches, Ex-Aid's team basically don't appear during them.

All other matches don't even get brief scenes and are completely skipped.

The final form Riders and Red Rangers in the final battle also basically only appear to use their finishers.

Volunteer Corps Hazardman. A worldwide [or just Japan-wide] network of pseudo-military operatives handing any alien/mystic/evil organization incidents that the Sentai of the year is either unable to reach or is unaware of. It's essentially the Patlabor of Super Sentai, going for a slower, more character driven plot focusing on a small, newly formed unit out in the countryside, maybe Hokkaido, after some unexplained incidents start up in a town that had some trouble with world domination types back in the 70's. Starts out as a three-man team with their section chief and lab tech but grows to a five-man unit later on.

Zyuranger's subs are decent though inconsistent, Dairanger's are average, Kakuranger's are shit, Zeo's are stolen from MFC, Carranger looks to be average.

Video quality is top notch on each set though.

Each time has a group upgrade with the Red/Blue/Yellow/Black getting Silver highlights with their upgrade and Purple/Green/Orange/White getting Gold highlights with their upgrade

The base mech would have a Ninninger meets Ohranger theme with swapping out heads/cartidges for a different fighting style for the mech each time with a different ranger controlling a different mech.

Base mech would have a tennis racket rather than a sword.

There'd be auxialry mechs like a power glove, an nes zapper etc.

There would be a tamagotchi cute mech that evolves/unfolds into different mech evolutions with level 1 2 and 3

I saw on Rangeboard them arguing about the last time a whole team managed to have a powerup. Only they are not sure if Go-buster or gekiranger counted, this is one of the things that irritate me the most !!! Both are series of three members and so only the initial trio obviously gained powerup, no matter how much you say Gekiviolet and Gekichopper are still extra members !!!!

I watched the first three episodes of ToQger and Gobusters and I like ToQger a lot more because it feels fun and fresh.

Keep in mind you shouldn't use anime rules for picking shows when it comes to toku (By this I mean like 3 episodes and it's dropped). Kamen Rider Blade for example takes 14-16 episodes before it picks up and even starts making any sense. Generally 6-10 episodes is what you should go through to give a show an honest chance since they just barely start developing any characters properly until that point.

Both are good shows though, ToQ stays fun the whole way through.
