What are some good mecha games?
>>
>>15412527
Western or Eastern release?
>>
>>15412527
Metal Storm
Armored Core series
Assault Suit Valken
Metal Warriors
Front Mission: Gun Hazard
Zone of the Enders 1&2
Gundam Extreme VS (don't know much about this series, but played one on the PS3 and it was pretty good and fun to play with friends)
>>
>>15412542
Doesn't matter, just looking for some fun games with giant robots!
>>
>>15412527
Chōsōjū Mecha MG is good, as is most of Sandlots work
Gotcha Force
Custom Robo
>>
If you have a PS2 (the holy grail of mecha games):
- S.L.A.I.
- Robot Alchemic Drive (R.A.D.)
- Armored Core series
- Front Mission 5 (SRPG)

If you have an original XBOX (rare):
- Steel Batallion
- Metal Wolf Chaos
- Chromehounds

If you have a PC (most of those games are on Steam):
- Gigantic Army
- Steel Strider
- Front Mission Evolved
- Dual GEAR (still Early Access)
- Slave Zero
- Gun Metal
- Strike Suit Infinity/Strike Suit Zero
- Assault Suit Leynos
- Armored Hunter GUNHOUND EX
- Astebreed
- Brigador
- Project Nimbus (still Early Access)
- HAWKEN (free, multiplayer)
- Mechwarrior Online (free, multiplayer)

Now get out.
>>
>>15412544
>Gundam Extreme VS
A new one should come out this year, called Gundam Versus. It seems to be like the rest of the series: fucking awesome.
>>
>>15412527
>>15412551
what systems do you own?
>>
I would also recommend Federation vs Zeon for PS2. Try it, it's good.
>>
>>15412625
Everything but any XBOX, PS3, PS4, and the Switch.
>>
Gekitotsu Robots is the best mecha game of the generation and created by the game master himself, Dan Kuroto
>>
- PS2
Another Century's Episode series (1,2,3)
Dynasty Warriors Gundam (1,2)
Gungriffon Blaze (there's an european version)
Gundam One Year War (japanese only)
Gundam Encounters in Space
Gundam Lost War Chronicles (japanese only)
Super Robot Wars series (OG, Impact, MX, Alpha 2, Alpha 3, Z)
SD Gundam G Gen WARS
Ring of Red
Zone of Enders 1
Zone of Enders 2

PSP
SD Gundam G Gen Overworld
Super Robot Wars Z2
Another Century's Episode Portable

PC
Metal Fatigue
Heavy Gear I&II
Mechwarrior series
>>
Anyone know a good PS2 emulator? I want to play some of the great SRW games like Alpha 2/3 and Z
>>
>>15412630
I'd suggest getting a PS3 and PS4 when you can, there's a lot of good /m/ games for both those systems
>>
>>15412628
Seconding this, perhaps the best in the series. Massive campaign, play through the whole series, and the really hit the nail on the head with the gameplay and versus. Probably sunk thousands of hours into this game in both single player and multi. The versus games after never matched the story mode of this.
>>
>>15412676
None of the Emulators are fantastic for PS2, if you can stomach it, I'd really suggest splurging for a ps2 with a mod chip from ebay, and playing things that way.

If you dont want to, use PCSX2
>>
>>15412676
PCSX2 is the standard, works well.
>>

What Mecha vidya is there on PS3?

Super Hero Generation is an SRPG like SD Gundam G Gen, but you play as Kamen Riders, Ultramen and Gundams.

Gundam 0081
Gundam Side Stories
Zone of Enders remaster
Armored Core 4/FA/5/VD (FA is usually the most complete)
>>
>>15412576
Chromehounds is a 360 game m8 and the online multiplayer has been dead for years making it fucking worthless now unless you really love playing a tutorial stretched across like 20 levels.

700€ for a good enough PC to play most of the PS2 library vs 20€ for PS2 Phat.

OP, there's also Battle Engine Aquila, for XBOX, PS2 and PC.

It's like Armored Core + Dark Souls + GTA + Studio Ghibli. It's seriously great. This is a game where you can poach and sell sharks, and when prices go higher because of PLOT, you can poach and sell sharks at like x3 their price.

This might be the place to ask.
I remember playing a mecha game back around 2000 on my pc. The design seemed western.
You controlled a robot in 1st person and fought against some animal like robots that when killed dropped people you could rescue then at the end stage you could use to buy upgrades.
The stage selection was on a globe and the stages followed the same format of finding mini bosses, killing them and the stage's boss would appear. The first stage was some greenlands with the boss being a red orb with spinning panels and the second one was a dessert.
Does anyone know of it?

>>
If you're interested in RPGs, the SaGa, Phantasy Star, and Wild ARMs series have lots of mecha elements to them. Though not specifically about robots.
>>
>>15426319
I liked it. Starting out, it's pretty rough. Early suits will be slow and maneuver like a pig, but as I got newer suits, I could feel the difference in mobility. Plus you can blow off limbs.
>>
>>15422197
MAV is basically Chromehounds on the PC, but updates are fucking slow. Don't get the steam version, though, as it's no longer maintained or updated. They pulled out due to Valve's shitty contracts and lackluster support.

Goliath is another PC game that seems like your average WW2 era floating island mecha survival game, but slowly gets better as it turns into a RPG after you find the first town and eventually make a mech that isn't carved out of wood.

Super Robot Wars series just released V for the PS4 and Vita with English subtitles.
>>
>>15424637
The last title that used the "Battle" moniker was Great Battle Fullblast, for the PSP. It's a lot like GB4, although a tad short. You can choose those heroes:
- KR Decade
- Original KR
- Strike Freedom
- Gundam
- I forgot the Ultramen, I think it's Mobius and the original Ultraman?
Sadly, you don't play as Roa anymore. You can also use other mechs/KRs/ultramen as assist attacks. Even Mother Ultra.

There was also Battle Dodgeball 3, also on the PSP.

The series lives on with Super Hero Generation (PS3) and Lost Heroes (LH1 for PSP, LH2 for 3DS).

I'm pretty sure I'm the only person who played this, but it kicked ass.
SRPG about giant mecha bugs armed with everything from buzzsaws, miniguns, and lasers to giant drills and artillery. Customizable equipment on all your units. Cheesy, enjoyable writing. Anime girl eyes are one of the default decals available to put on your mechs. Hard at times, but not unfair.
What more could you ask for?

Looks like a lot of titles have been mentioned already, so lets dig a bit deeper.

Strania - The Stella Machina
Mech STG, because shooter games LOVE mechs.

So im playing front mission 3 for the first time and im having a blast, just one question, do i need to use the network besides using the shop?
>>
>>15430827
I think you only get optional parts and some programs, so you may want to use it or not. Most of the websites are just text dumps.

They were also making a mod that was essentially Gundam Extreme Vs Maxi Boost
>>

Zoids battle legends was the shit.

Any good twin-stick shmups?
>>
>>15431060

Found that on moddb. Looks closer to the new PS4 game, though.

Well, this thread sold me on the game. Waiting for the developer to (manually?) email the game. Hoping online isn't completely dead. If so, mods still seem worth it.
>>
Stardust Galaxy Warriors

I think STG is the most mech prevalent genre, with strategies being close second.

Hawken, Titanfall 2, MGSV, SRWV, Transformers Devastation

Besides Double Fine has made some seriously classic stuff. Haven't played any of their stuff since Brutal Legend but I doubt /v/ has any objectivity on their new stuff

Pick one and only one.

Most of their newer stuff feels half-finished, honestly.
Costume Quest was probably the last decent thing they put out.
>>
>>15431547
All their stuff since Brutal Legends are just rehashes, "HD versions" and poor man's versions of other games.

No.

Metal Marines
>>
>>15412527
I know it's already been said, but Metal Storm for the NES is a really good, kinda overlooked game. It's kinda like.... Gravity Man's stage in Mega Man 5 but as a full game, it's really fun.

Also, even though I've only played the first game (I'd have played the second but my PS3 broke), Zone of the Enders was just a ton of fun to play and I really need to get another PS3 just so I can play The 2nd Runner.

That and Xenogears, but I haven't played that yet.

Also, don't we have this huge-ass guide to mecha games?
>>

I'd say it's high time to update that thing. Pooling newer titles in a thread like this is a start.

War of the Monsters was a PS2 game that was like Twisted Metal but with kaiju monsters. One of them was a parody of anime mecha and there was also an american movie style one.

Metal Marines on Windows 3.1 was my shit back in the day. The SNES version just isn't the same, but it's the only version that I can still find playable versions of.

Nothing will ever replace that feeling of three golden marines breaking through the last pillbox and ravaging the enemy's now-defenseless interceptor missiles.

Yes

Supreme Commander. It's not completely mecha-oriented, but let's just say that instead of a "main building", your base is a giant mecha that can walk around and fire lasers at enemies.

Codex of Victory is the only thing I can think of on short notice.

I'm sure if we dig deep enough we could probably find some oldie like M.A.X. (Mechanized Assault & Exploration)
>>
>>15436544
>M.A.X.

Robotic Walker in M.A.X. 2 is broken beyond comprehension when pitted against organic targets due to its ammo that apart being anti-vehicle, it also has a one-hit-kill gas in every round.

And since Sheevat are a race that have bio-tech and pretty much every unit and building is organic...

If you want a Gundam VS game for PSP, check out:
Mobile Suit Gundam SEED: OMNI vs ZAFT
Gundam vs Gundam
Gundam vs Gundam NEXT PLUS
The last game has gameplay similar to Extreme VS games on PS3, where the first two are more like the PS2 UC VS titles.

NEXT PLUS also has a kickass Mission Mode, but it can be bullshit unless you use one of the better 2000/3000 cost suits and/or grind for EXP for upgrades.

Sadly I found the mech fights the weakest part of the game, but the extreme stylizing really helps make you push past the mediocrity that is mech combat. And for anyone wondering why, it's because you only have one or two effective attacks with a mech out of about 3 or 4 attacks altogether, and you have way more options and strategies when on foot.

I love the gungriffon blaze you people should definitely check it. the 1st and 2nd game on the saturn are awesome too. Just Blaze is more nervous and I love it. still didn't try the xbox episode.

A shame this fine game can't be converted to play with steel battalion and only the 2nd game is compatible with the Twin Stick controller.

That game is full of moments like this, the first time the Guncannons appear its guaranted they will kill you before you even see them thanks to their back cannons and then you have that stage that has you going against three guntanks being protected by a squad each

Sadly the PS3 one wasn''t as fun or hard, you really could feel how the Gouf and Dom were superior to the Zaku

This is a little embarassing, but it's related to the thread, how do you transform in ACE2 again?
I picked it back up and spent an entire level zipping around in the ReGZ aimlessly stuck in MA mode. Waded through the menus but I haven't found it.
