So I decided that the GM Sniper K9 will actually play the command role, being the special snowflake unit and having that neat drone backpack gimmick that the sniper rifle can mount on. The squad is going to be a little more "even" with a Jesta, Jesta Cannon, Jegan ECOAS, and a Jegan ECOAS Conroy Haagesen custom because I noticed it was up on P-Bandai again.

Only problem is the Conroy custom isn't arriving until May. Guess he's going to be a late addition.

I just finished building mine a few days. Really great kit, wide range of articulation with lots of nice detail it's really made me positive on the Real Grade line as my first RG kit despite some complaints I've read about it. Definitely my favorite out of my small collection. I will say though after doing some research it seems the Astray is the DLC Gundam. It has a lot of optional parts that aren't available for the RG officially and you'll have to look to third party stuff (1/144 Kai Backpack) or kitbash (Flight Unit). Regardless though it looks so nice sitting on my desk that I don't really care.

Plus 1/60s aren't as popular as you'd think they'd be in Japan simply because of their size as well as their price tag.

Space is a premium, a 1/100 fits neatly on a normal bookshelf or small display cabinet while still having plenty of room for other models. Bandai is smart to make a higher-quality 1/100 kit line even if some dumb westerner who doesn't understand Bandai's actual primary market thinks otherwise, so don't be surprised to see more of the Hi-Res line in the future.

Sanded down a bunch of nubs on my Zaku II MG. Panel lined the top half of the kit yesterday, gotta line the legs and feet today. I still need to build the weapons too so I'll try to get that done. After that I'll add decals, not sure how many with this guy, then hopefully topcoat it tomorrow to call it done. After that is the Ground Gundam. I've got some real touch Gundam Markers coming in so I'm going to give weathering a go.

Finished it about 4 hours ago

Good kit

Most likely doing the Geara Zulu next, and when I finish that I'll go buy some new blades from the hobbystore if they finally have them in stock. Then I either start the MG F91 or the 1/100 FM Vidar.
Probably the F91 since it'll have less panel-lining to do so I can crack open a new set of panel-lining markers for that + the HG I do after it, which'll probably be the GM Striker.

I recently built the SD EX-Standard 00 Gundam as well, but I decided to use gundam markers for recoloring instead of applying the stickers because they're not big details. The process is hell, and I'll have to apply a clear coat to then panel line the thing so the paint from the gundam markers doesn't come off.

RG shoulder armor is notoriously fragile. Rest of the kit is just fiddly. I hate building RGs but just with panel lining and topcoat they look amazing so the process is worth it.

That's from the SDCC pack from a year or two ago. Really solid Giant Man, came with a bunch of other Ant-Men too. I need to put them in a different spot to reserve the current locations for Gundams. I only have 2 completed MGs, 1 HG, a near finished Zaku II MG and a backlog. The Wing Gundam is the Damashii, I'm eventually going to replace it with the MG.

So I had an idea and dug some old kits out of storage to make this.

I know it's dirty but I slapped it together fairly quickly. Now I need a paint scheme.

The idea I had behind this was that of a Zeonic Knight and I'm trying to think of what best embodies that. Obviously I'll strip the stickers off beforehand.

Not proud of this, but I'd hate to just not share out of any pride. MG Kampfer complete. There was a lot of issues I had, and I don't think anyone wants to hear that, but the biggest issue was that I couldn't get the blues to match how I wanted. The candy coating blue came out much lighter than I wanted, regardless of paint mix/layers, and the gloss blue came out much darker than I wanted, getting even darker and removing the shading when I added the gloss to it.

There is like 1 domestic gunpla site for me and the prices end up being basically the same as if I ordered from hlj. For it's bulk, it's very light and hollow so it likes to topple over, and since its ankles are horrible, it really needs to plant its feet to not. Articulation is bad in the legs, but the arms are pretty ok, with the balljoint in the shoulder giving it better articulation than older MGs I messed up during a screw part, actually, but it was user error. I wouldn't worry about it except that kits with screws can be loose.

An X-acto knife works wonders with nubs. Then I scratch the surface lightly until the cutoff area is barely noticeable.

I found this WIP picture online, can anyone explain something to me who knows more about plaplate? How does the builder bend the plates to the exact angle of the parts under them, like with the box-like shape of the shoulder or the whole back leg? Tutorials always show some heat usage like a heat gun or candle, does it take heating it, waiting until it's all soft, and then pressing it onto the part perfectly or is there some secret Japan-only plastic magic? I tried dunking flat sheet bits and cut runner pieces in boiling water then bending them onto a part already, mixed success.
