The thing with Wizard is that conceptually it could be a really strong series. The problem was that the production wouldn't step the fuck up to the challenge.

Shunpei is written like a kid. A younger kid, impressed by actual magic, easy coming of age, can provide this younger connection and naive perspective to things. Only they couldn't cast a kid to star throughout the whole year for some (obvious) reasons and they didn't really have Shunpei do much but bumble around in the backlines until he sorta stuck with Beast.

Rinko. How do you fuck that up. Information support and handwaving of public reaction: the character. She's kinda dumb and useless instead and isn't given anything to do.

Koyomi is supposed to be the heart of the team. You can see it really well in the movie. They gave her the ability to sense phantoms, she should be a constant moral support to Haruto and the only supernatural help. She would be that if her actress bothered showing up on set. The way she was actually written you just wonder: why would anyone care?

Haruto as it is was fine. There's charm to these heroes who sacrifice their way of living and their personal enjoyment to a cause that's larger than them. A plain sugar hero, Godai-kind, works very well as the bearer of hope icon in particularly dark and down-y storytelling. Maybe a bit of Doctor Strange to him? But there wasn't any of that storytelling so he just looked boring all the time. Challenges for him to overcome were really shallow victims of the week who were attached to random objects for the monster to break because the writer couldn't figure out any other way to portray this obvious trope

Dragon, Phantom leads, Fueki and Mayu were all just basically underwritten despite all being easily workable

Lazy producing, lazy writing, if it wasn't for directors trying to do cool action and Beast just being a guy that's sorta alive on the set, it would've really been an exercise in taking an easy idea and FUCKING IT ALL UP

Admittedly, Super-1 is pretty fucking terrible. It and Black are probably the only two genuinely formulaic shows in Showa, and whereas Black at least has moments of solid presentation throughout the show, Super-1's top moments are all in the first half.

The big issue is that Super-1 does the exact same thing Ghost does. It panders to kids alongside their parents' interests, meaning no violent martial arts since kids can replicate that!!! and more kids appearing in the show in order to pander. In V3, the kids were at least about 10-11 and could arguably do something, but in Super-1 there's a goddamn plotline about an actual four year old getting knocked off his tricycle.

I found it quite fine. It was slightly slow and there were many stuff that could have been avoided (like Shunpei's character). People bash at the story, but it was very solid and interesting. Its flaw was that the ending wasn't exciting at all. The last few episodes were mediocre. It wasn't so much magic-based as it should have been, and the ending fight was just.. normal.

But, Wizard did great when it comes to portraying magic. You won't find shows/movies about magic, that do well at that, very easily. Wizard stayed true to its theme and didn't turn out an abomination like a shit ton of other similar shows. It's the main reason I enjoyed Wizard. I was always excited about his using his forms and powers. It was much better than W, OOO and Fourze in that aspect.

Just finished the Ryuki movie.
It was a good movie. Femme was okay, Ryuga was also ok.
The rest of the cast was good as always.

I'm not disappointed, it was good. The whole series.

Its such a fun journey with fucking 3 sad ends(series, movie and 13 riders)
