So does this mean that Toei counts Another as a Kamen Rider after all? Because it was already pretty bullshit that despite functioning like every other Agito on the show that could transform, word passed around that he wasn't considered one. Yeah he may not have the official title in his name, but I figured that was always because the names "Kamen Rider Another Agito" and "Another Kamen Rider Agito" both sound incedibly dumb and verbose.

Also nice that AA gets some special screentime during the season about doctors, just like Accel did in Drive's first V-Cinema. Though it kind of makes me wish we got G-3 in there during Drive.

If you like clip shows, sure. In every way other than that, Agito is better.

Well for starters Kuuga just does a different thing. It's unprecedented and was never repeated, it's a show made out of a question, hey, what if monsters appeared in real world, among real people, how would they deal with it. That's what it draws all of its drama from. It manages to create suspense out of very little. Ichijo is great specifically BECAUSE he isn't a Rider, but he's no less of a hero for it. I'm gonna go ahead and say that liking Kuuga is acquired taste and that it's one of the few tokusatsu you could call adult with a straight face. Also, bike action. There's so much biking in Kuuga, it's almost like they remembered the show was actually about a masked biker or something.

I'll concede that Agito is basically just as good though, it's just that Agito is the best Rider made by Shirakura, and Kuuga is the best Rider made by Takatera, and they're both very different people.

I find Godai's evolution as a Rider better than Agito. Agito just sort of gets his powers, where as Kuuga's develops and evolves as the situation demands and Godai consciously works towards strengthening himself and his combat prowess. Not to mention, with only one Rider, Godai's struggle is much more centralized, him vs the Grongi, not him vs other Riders and then the Grongi. Also I find the police force actually developing their tactics across the entire series till they could actually fight the Grongi themselves was much better than just having a suit ready and then bringing in a better suit later. We actually see the police in Kuuga struggle like Kuuga does, until by the end they can shoot Grongi dead, and not just the cops, but every character involved in fighting the Grongi provided support. Also no pointless drama or characters being antagonistic for no reason. All the characters in Kuuga felt very grounded and resolute in their desire to either protect humanity from the Grongi, or being friends with Godai

But you have to be fair here anon. After the whole "can't have bike action scenes anymore since actors might hurt themselves" we need to take what we do get and focus more on it. Yes, the bike action in Kuuga outside of the Gouran add on is very cheesy, and not even really fights, just stunt maneuvers, but then compare it with everything else we see, especially in modern times, where sometimes we see a bike for one episode and then it's never used again. Kuuga actually tries to implement the Rider part, and almost every episode features Godai riding the Tri-Chaser. So you have to give them that at least. And at least it was never some garish CGI bike action scene, or driving off ramps in the quarry

Most of that is better covered over a couple episodes during the second half. The first half was just a bunch of extremely bland episodic stories culminating in a slightly different new form for Kuuga. The odd cut away to the scientist chick learning nothing new every now and then too I guess.

Without those episodic stories we wouldn't build up who Godai is, and who the people around him are. It develops, him as a character, and a normally peaceful man coming to terms with having to be a fighter on his own. The second half covers Godai going through new changes that are completely foreign, thus the first half is receiving Kuuga's power and becoming familiar with it, and the second half is delving into completely new territory from what Godai becomes used to.

See, you're mistaking 'utilizing different forms' for 'shilling' Kuuga switched forms as the situation depended on it. Mighty was for straight beat em ups, as the Grongi started using more weapons he started utilizing Dragon form more to keep up against the weapon usage. Pegasus form was only used like two times to fight ranged enemies, and Titan form only ever came out when Godai needed a wall, or got really angry. And then you got fucking Ultimate Form, which only shows up in the last two episodes. Agito did almsot the exact same thing, only this time, his forms didn't have as much plot central importance, Agito just sort of pulled out his new forms, and then when his sword and staff form didn't work, he just smashed them together, and then theres Burning form, which was probably his only plot important form, and Shining form, which, despite being his final form, didn't really do much. Ryuki and Blade didn't need to shill forms, because instead they shilled card based toys, collect them all kids! And if you're comparing Kuuga to fucking Fourze and Ghost in terms of form and toy shilling? You are clearly very wrong.
