Anyway let me start by asking - why is there a DX in the first launch of Rider toys? Wouldn't DX only make sense if there was an "original" version, like Tetris -> Tetris DX? Or is it just your typical marketing buzzword?

It's just the name of the line and that makes it easier for people looking for them. Currently all the toys get a shitload of versions: candy toy, gashapon, PLEX mini ones, etc.

In the case of collectibles especially, the lights and sounds versions of the shokugan and gashapon ones look a like but with some features missing.

When it comes to the Asian run of KR shows, they have the cheapo "First Hero" versions which looks exactly like the DX, just with the electronics gutted.

Candy and Gasha are usually the same size, candy are just less detailed than gasha. And kind of but not really, take the Ex-Aid gashapon gashats. They have the call out, but no jingle after it. They also don't have the nubs to activate the sounds, so they are instead on a cycle that you activate with the black trigger.

There's Japanese, Korean and Asian runs of the DX line.

Basically, after the show airs in the Japan,

One year-ish later, it'll be brought over to Korea dubbed, along with the toys.

Two~three year-ish later, it'll be dubbed in Mandarin/Cantonese/English and brought over to Taiwan/Hongkong/SEA respectively....

So if you're too cheap to buy Japanese-run DX toys, you can actually wait for the Korean-run...or even the Asian run. Some of the toys may have changes though. OOO's Asian version had English sounds (Falcon, Tiger, Locust!)

It's a question of "when" Pallad will betray him, not "if".

My guess is the main Riders have him on the ropes, figure out a way to counteract Dangerous Zombie's bullshit, or prevent it from keeping him alive, then Pallad figures he's more trouble than it's worth for his plans, and swoops in to finish him off before the heroes can do it.

I saw the last thread, and was it really mentioned that Ren's wish was to save everyone (because of influence by Shinji)? I thought that was what only Shinji wanted, and Ren's only wish was to save his girlfriend.

In all honesty it's up to interpretation? We're dealing with TV Nihon subs and Kobayashi not explaining the lore behind the rider battle well enough or what the extent of the wishes they can use.

It's more poetic if it's Ren's doing as it makes the series about Shinji motivating/influencing a seemingly uncaring asshole to be better person which was sort of a lead up with Zolda and Ren admitting Shinji is a better person than them in a prervious episode.

Rather than Yui and Kanzaki deus ex machina-ing everything up making the whole series meangingless

Yes, there's a formula for the original show, but it was also the original show and they needed a formula to make sure there was a default to rest on if they didn't know what to write, and even then that one wasn't established until the 20s. And they quite often broke the formula at multiple times.

The only two that are actually "Samey" and formulaic are V3 and Super-1, which are also agreed upon to be the worst of the Showa shows. X, Amazon, and Stronger all have various factors introduced to to either reference the original formula while doing their own spin on it or just break the formula entirely.

None. Toei and Bandai only account for Japan-based purchases and "fangroups" to determine where to take the direction of their products for things like Kamen Rider. This is primarily because those are the largest purchasing bases. They've even tried to centralize their "older" audience with the Toei Fan Club so that they don't need to read 20 different 2ch boards.

Based on what I've seen heard, incredibly mediocre, is already very dated at launch and is badly cloning aspects from mainstream AAA games, some of which are very out of place in the game. Has a lot of outright bad design decisions of its own and the story pacing is really lopsided with most of it not being there until the end game.

That's all second hand from friends though so I can't say personally.

There's something I realized about the main riders. They each have the same personalities as the protagonists of the game series they represent.

Emu is humble but determined like Mario or Kirby. His M personality is cocky and 2 cool for school like a Sonic the hedgehog type mascot.

Hiro is similar to troubled Final Fantasy protagonists like Cloud who are a bit pompous and cocksure of themselves with a a personality more about getting the job done. His storyline revolves around losing someone he really cares about too.

Taiga is edgy and elitist but also a seasoned veteran like most FPS protags. He also believes that he is the best out of everyone.

Kiriya is more style than substance and super competive. Similar to protags like Captain Falcon or dudes from Crazy Taxi.

Dan is more like the main villain of a horror games. Seems calm and controlled at first but turns down right sociopathic and creepy at the drop of a hat. Similar to dudes like Wesker from Resident evil
