Rules:
Pick any 1/144 or 1/100 kit from the Graze family (Pic Related), and paint and customize it. As far as customizing it, I'm going to place a limit on that. The limit is 50% additions to the kit.
To define 50%, look at it like this, you could take a Graze Ritter and replace the arms (including shoulders), legs, and backpack and I'd call that 50%. I'm not counting handheld bits in that. If you're unsure of something please ask in IRC, the thread, or email.

Let's say I want to give my Dom a knuckle shield. As a filthy snapshit, should I buy a Zaku 1 kit for the shield or try to make my own with the Black Tri Stars' Zaku 2 shield? I'm thinking about buying pic related because it comes with 2, leaving some room for error.

As a filthy snapshit, you should know that things might not look too great without paint if they're not the same color, so it might be time to grab some hand brushes or an airbrush and paints.

The Gaia/Mash Zaku comes with parts for three shields actually since it needs two sets of the light purple frame for the shoulders. The only real problem you might have from there is making the handle

You don't create with Tamiya White putty, it's for seam welding with after you cement. What you need is polyester putty or epoxy putty, those can hold detail. I've never used polyester but epoxy cure up to rock hardness and you scribe into it a few hours after it is
placed. Then from there it will be solid after more waiting.

Import tax for some countries - in the Netherlands if the contents of the parcel is over 21 or 22 euros worth, then you need to pay tax or a fee on delivery. If it's marked as a gift when they ship it, you don't need to pay tax unless it's over 40 euros. It's really handy if companies mark it as a gift (Mandarake has done this for kits under 40 euros for me), but it's kind of illegal/unethical. Amiami doesn't do this, nor does HLJ

I have two Daban kits. The Jesta Cannon and Phenex.

Jesta Cannon was pretty good. Parts fit were generally hassle free, save for some flash and mould imperfections you have to shave off and a few pegs that are too fat to fit in their respective holes.

The peg one of the cannons connect to however is pretty thin and the plastic is soft, so obviously that broke off. I would hope it doesnt suffer the same fate on Bandai releases.

The Phrnex has been great so far, but the clear plastic on the Psycoframe is very brittle. The POM runner parts are very tight. The undergating is sloppy. But looking past those, the quality is great.

Delta Plus is fairly new, would probably have been done by the time Daban has the facilities to make good bootlegs.

This conversion actually seems a lot easier than I thought it would be. It's surprising how close the size of legs from a 2016 kit are to a 1983 kit.

Anyone built the GM Quel? I'm in the middle of building it and the hands wont hold the rifle or beam saber without parts popping off. My fingers hurt.... please help....

Most of my kits are OYW and I like the Goufy design so it was the most appealing RE/100, I do have my eye on the Bawoo and Dijeh as well out of the RE/100 kits.

Yeah I really like the RE/100 line, I plan on getting the GP04 or the Nightingale next. I have the MK III already and really love it.

I probably will end up getting the Dijeh and Bawoo at some point too, or possibly the Rebawoo instead since I really like that design.

I have the HG Rebawoo and it was pretty disappointing how much work was required just to make it look good as a regular OOB build. It doesn't seem like I would have that issue with the RE/100 version..

Mainly because the Origin Guncannon only comes with those claw hands and the round hands easily fit into the arms without any mods. I'm probably gonna replace them with some Builders Parts hands or Build Knuckles, depending on which looks better on the kit. The 80s hands have a charm to them though.

Modded the shoulders skirt and backpack now so that they aren't just held in by blu-tack. Gonna move onto the legs and make them a bit more stable (They're just kinda sliding around with only the feet keeping them in place right now)

Better engineering so it's more stable in all modes.

The proportions are quite different from a Messiah. It's more gangly. I like it but people are divided. I don't really care. That's up to your tastes. But the VF-31 series is objectively the best Macross kits put out by Bandai yet.

Just a note: The HG Nu is actually really good, especially with its funnels. Those things are rock solid and dont sag when you put them in attack mode. It's too bad there aren't any effect parts to take advantage of this though.

I do a panelwash as I go along. It makes it easier instead of reaching into the small crevices once the model is completed. It'll also help you avoid smudging other pieces if you do it one by one.

For my model, I didn't have to glue anything. The parts I had to paint were the back/spine plates, parts of the helmet, parts of the shoulder, and some small areas. Like I said, I had fun doing it, and it wasn't much of a hassle. I just compared my EVA to the completed one in the booklet to find out what I had to paint because it won't tell you what to paint and where.

Looks like you got the Series 007, while I have the Series 001. Not exactly sure what the difference is, but I'm sure it's have the same principles.

007 has the frame that it stands in, I think 001 is just the Eva.

I ended up with 2 Reis by ordering mistake.
HLJ was on backorder for all of the kits when I placed the order, but AmiAmi had an actual re-release date for them. I placed the order on both sites to cancel whichever didn't ship first, but AmiAmi doesn't do order cancellation.
When I learned of that, HLJ had already gotten the Rei model in stock, so I ended up cancelling the rest of the HLJ order.

I figure this way, I'll build Rei first, and if I fuck up it isn't a big deal.

I have 2 of each Ez-8's and a normal Ground Type Gundam. Although I got them on purpose so I can build one seriously and then use a different color pallet on the next one, just to experiment. Try it with your second Rei, maybe it'll come out even better than the original. But you can never have enough EVAs anyway.
Pretty cool frame on that 01, i love that the shoulders can fit right in there.

I have yet to paint my Shinji, though, I'll probably do that sometime soon after I'm done painting the weapons. I'd like to see your work when you're done man. Post it on here.

That's just your average early 80's kit for you. Dalong has no pics of the Guncannon II yet but here's a GM Sniper for you to get an idea. The Guncannon II actually has quite the range of motion to it (The feet move in four whole directions, there's hip movement other than up/down, arm articulation is actually up to par to early high grades) which is really surprising for a kit that came out almost three decades ago. I'm kinda tempted to get a Psycommu High-Mobility Zaku or a GM Cannon and do a straight build of it.
